Charlie "Shining Path" Bosworth, RIP (1 Viewer)

Hectic day at work today, just unbelievably busy and distracted. I finally get in my car to head home and the car in front of me has a vanity plate that read:

SHINEY

Got dusty in my car but then for some reason it just put a big smile on my face.

RIP :goodposting:

Tip: press control+F5 to reload images to see updated avatars. Still thinking about trying to adjust mine.
saw this one and thought of you. Add some z's and it's even better
That's pretty good; about what I envisioned actually. I think I'm going with that for now, but I don't have the energy to add Z's. Maybe later.Edit: If someone with Photoshop or other photo-editing software could save that .PNG as a .JPG (to make it an acceptable size) and using a clear or white background instead of the purple one that mysteriously generates when I open the picture in paint, I would appreciate it.

I'll need 26,550 more posts to have enough material to be considered in the tier twice removed from SP.

RIP Shiney.

I sincerely hope that there is a Heaven and Shiney is looking down and seeing how many lives' he has touched.

Shining Path is a first ballot HOF FBG. Always enjoyed his topics and posts. I'm just floored at his passing at such a young age. What a tremendous loss to the FFA. But more importantly, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and close friends. WOW...
:goodposting: first ballot HOF FBG would be a worthy thread... very saddened by this... thank you to scooby gang for the eloquent eulogy... the weight of meaning was commensurate with the impact of the loss (actually, that would be impossible, but you know what i mean... good job, man)...shining path was EASILY one of the most erudite & wittiest posters in the FFA (& that is saying a lot)... if possible, he separated himself as much by his infinite patience & good will...sometimes people who haven't been exposed to a community like this & have no common frame of reference wonder about the phenomenon of i-friends... we exist in a world where, for lack of a better word, it is very important to us that we are CORPOREAL (things like having a face)...but in this corner of the universe, it is incredibly UNimportant... shining path revealed a lot about himself & what kind of person he was through his many interactions & the countless people he touched... whether he met them in person is completely incidental... the nearly continuous, unbroken stream of intelligence, insight, understanding, warmth & humor could only have emanated from a good soul/spirit...i started a thread one time that was called (something to the effect of), most incongruous avatar/name... for me, & probably many, shining path was #1 with a bullet... the pure audaciousness of conception of putting together the name of a violent south american rebel faction of freedom fighers with the image of the paragon of harmlessnes, a tele-tubbie, was sheer, unadulterated genius...maybe his handle was in a way prophetic... he did blaze an incendiary trail across the FBG landscape... the shortness of duration (far too short a time) was compensated for by the luminosity & radiance... we were collectively blessed by his presence, & that is a rare gift we can be thankful for...* i don't know what shining path's beliefs were, but i always liked the irish idea of a wake... so though i am terribly saddened (& if it isn't too irreverant to say at a time like this), i choose to celebrate his memory by reading the deservedly legendary RBD (all 65 pages)...even when his cracks were like a quick jab, they were always funny... & they were funny because of his unique take & slant on things... he was an original... R.I.P. shining path - you will be missed, but not forgotten...

Don't know why I haven't posted in here yet. Didn't know him too well, but still, it's hard to accept when part of your community moves on.

RIP Shiny.

So is mine showing up yet?

edit: awesome. Big shout-out and thanks to Jamny, who is working overtime on this.

:shiny:

I want to change my avatar, but I can't photoshop my current, and I can't save images to my work comp to upload a new av. :goodposting:

Rudnicki or any mod, feel free to change my avatar for me to a sweet Tinky Winky!!!

Just changed mine using paint.

An artist I am not.

ETA: Maybe I did....how long does it take for a new avatar to load? Is there some approval process through a mod or something?

Takes about 15 minutes to load on the server. You may then need to do a forced refresh (CTRL-F5) to see the change.

wow. One of the few that made my time here actually worthwhile. It is a strange world where hours of tributes are paid to Michael Jackson on television and web pages but it takes us days to realize we had lost a great one in shining path. RIP.

Maybe things would be different if shiny had shot a dance video for "Dinitrosyliron complexes and the mechanism(s) of cellular protein nitrosothiol formation from nitric oxide."

I tried substituting the eyeball for tinky winky's face, but it was horrible and disturbing.

All the avatars are happy. That is good.

shining path's passing has affected me more than I feel comfortable admitting. I feel like a jerk for letting my own sadness and grief prevail over celebrating all the humor and good will shiny brought to us over the years. But the avatar tributes are an appropriate and uplifting celebration.

Little help adding some Tinky-Winky accents to Matthew Broderick over there?

 That's awesome. jamny added some headgear to the Ferris headshot, but that museum one will be my personal photo for a while.
I tried to put him in the famous car pic, but he didn't fit.
What do y'all use to do this stuff? Photoshop?

Just edited mine... hope it turned out ok. Wanted to keep the antenna on but it didn't work out too well using Paint.
