Checking in from Iceland...taking questions now. (1 Viewer)

Is there anything to the old myth that Iceland was named to keep new settlers from knowing how nice much of the country was and Greenland was named to trick settlers into moving there instead?

I think in the summer time Iceland is warmer than Greenland.
Iceland has a surprisingly temperate climate considering its latitude, due to warm(ish) Atlantic currents. It doesn't get warm in the summer, but the winters aren't particularly harsh.

Greenland is ice fields, glaciers and tundra.

What appears to be the dominate automaker?
The cars there are awesome. The roads are dominated by European style subcompacts and micro-cars, but with a strong minority of 4 wheel drive vehicles, including a bunch of Land Cruisers, other SUVs and Toyota Pickups with giant offroading tires and snorkels. It is an amusing contrast.

i loved iceland when i was there almost 20 years ago. it was gorgeous in its own weird way. same could be said of the women too.

On a scale from 1 to 100, 67 being perfect, 86 being so-so, 38 being terrible, and 12 being pretty decent, how is your day going?

How are the casual encounters for craigslist Reykjavik? You're a FBG on vacation so I'm sure you'll be looking for something like: m4www

what kind of armed forces does Iceland have? I'm assuming a navy- anything else?
almost non existent...they have 4 naval ships per my walking tour guide.

This is a country with a population of 300k that we are talking about.

Big fan. Did a trip with Righetti and the fellas there some years ago.

Hook up with the chicks. They're hot.

That main strip in Reykjavik has some good bars that are open late.

Do one of those jeep tours into the hot springs in the middle of the country. Bad ###.

It's touristy but Blue Lagoon is worth a visit.

Have fun!

Any sightings of the northern lights this time of year?
I haven't seen them, this time of year it's light 24 hours so not sure if you can see them or not. I did notice some tour pamphlets but not sure if it's a seasonal thing.

They're evidently most prominent in spring/fall. I'm in Glasgow right now and hoping to see a bit, but it has been very cloudy pretty much all the time.

Weather patterns? Same random sun/clouds/rain that the UK seems to get?

Having a bite to eat and taking advantage of some WiFi...questions?
Are you also Jayrok or is Jayrok you? Are you the same person? Seems very strange that two people would have the same Bill Murray face as their little symbol thingy (avatar or whatever it is called)
