Chester Taylor's stock just tanked (1 Viewer)

Glad I traded him two weeks ago for a 2nd rounder this year and a first rounder next season. I took over a young rebuilding team and Taylor did not seem to fit plus I was worried this might happen. I think Taylor will still be an OK backup RB but unless AD gets hurt he does not make a good starter going forward IMO.
the Peterson pick really throws a wrench in my fantasy Keeper plans (2 player keeper league).i have Edge as 1 keeper (love the Levi Brown pick), and Chester was going to be my 2nd keeper.. but if he's splitting carries w/ AD (assuming he survives the summer w/ no injuries),------ i'd rather keep Reggie Brown WR-Phi [sic] hoping he has that trademark Year3 Breakout Season, over Chester Taylor RBBC in a low-scoring offense.
FWIW, I dealt CT in my keeper league, along with a late 4th, for the 2.01. We keep 15, so it's not a lot to get. But, I will be able to keep Schaub, Hackett, or Keyshawn now. Traded with the team who owns 1.01, so it makes sense IMO for us both.

Not sure what it does to Chester's value, but those of us who have been holding onto Melwede and Fason in larger dynasty leagues might have roster space available now.

Good spot for Peterson for us long-term holders. He'll be able to sit for most of 2007 and/or split time and heal his collarbone. The last thing you want for a guy with injury-prone questions is starting from day one.

For redraft leagues I'm not ready to write off Taylor just yet. There are still lots of questions surrounding Peterson's collarbone, if they have to operate will he be ready for the season? If he is, I'd imagine they'd still be somewhat cautious and work him in slowly. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if by midseason Peterson was getting the lion's share of the carries. Time will tell.

The Vikings drafted Peterson because they needed his explosiveness. He can't be very explosive on the bench. It's harrrrible news for Chester no matter how you slice it. Nice, serviceable season out of Chester last year but 5 td's and a 4.0 average on 300 carries just isn't going to cut it. Won't surprise me at all given Peterson's reported work ethic to see him starting game 1.

I wouldn't count Chester Taylor's value out yet. Peterson is going to meet with team doctors and may need surgery. This could be one of those colossal bust picks of all time if AD never gets right. If he does, then yes, CT's long-term fantasy value is greatly impacted. But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater just yet.

Chester's going to end up being a huge value play for 2007 if his stock falls as much as I think it will.
what do you think his ceiling is while he's sharing carries with AD and while Jackson is starting at QB for his first full season in the NFL?

Let's see if AD is healthy enough to play in 2007 before we worry about Chesty. In a dynasty league, I'm punting him. But in redrafts? I'm smelling value.

a minor collarbone injury is going to sideline Peterson. :confused:He ran a sub 4.4 with the injury, I don't see how that keeps him out of training camp at all.

Stick a fork in Taylor he's done. As HK said he benefitted from circumstance not ability, Peterson has ability.
Ya, he benefitted from having no pass game, an adjusting O-Line, and facing 8-man fronts all year. Not to mention he had injured ribs the 2nd half.

As a ceiling, I'd look at Deuce McAllister 2006. Remember, a year ago at this time:(1) the Saints were going to suck(2) the Saints drafted Reggie Bush(3) Deuce didn't look great in 2004-5(4) Deuce had a lot of mileage on his tires(5) Deuce was still recovering from an ACL tearCompare:(1) Vikings 2007 doesn't look quite as bad as the 2006 Saints were expected to be(2) Peterson not as good as Bush(3) Taylor had decent 2006(4) Not a lot of mileage(5) The rookie, not Taylor, is the one recovering from injury.

make all the excuses for him that you want but they went out and drafted the best RB in the draft with their #7 pick in the first. Taylor was a workhorse but isn't that talented.

I'll state right now the Vikings will not be good on offense...so I'm not going to use the '06 Saints as my ceiling...not even close. Brees>>>>>>>>T. Jackson , that's just for starters.

I think the pick was a testament to the talent of Peterson, not Taylor.

Can't really argue with you there but the fact still remains that Taylor's value was due to his workload, not his 4.0 ypc behind a bunch of all-pro lineman or his 6 td's. He benefitted greatly by not having a decent back behind him, that's not the case anymore.
