Chicago weather for Sunday. (1 Viewer)

Not much. TMJ has reporters there live and they are stating that Crosby tried a 40 yarder and the wind pushed it wide by 20 yards and Ryan has been having problems punting it further than 30 yards.

Forget kicking it seems. No deep balls. Everything will be short it appears. Unless Jennings goes invisible and sneaks down the field undetected.

does anyone know - do winds cut down alot on soldier field? I mean ON THE FIELD.
Check out the description of the Bears/49ers game from 2005:http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20051113003

Pay special attention to this bit:

Earlier, Gould attempted a 39-yard field goal and the ball appeared headed straight to the goalposts, got caught in a gust, then almost comically ended up about 20 yards wide right. Nedney hit a 30-yarder in the second quarter.
I watched this game on TV when it happened, the way the wind affected that field goal was RIDICULOUS. The QBs--neither of them great to begin with--could not compete with the wind. Favre doesn't have a noodle arm, so he might be able to find through the winds today, but I'll most likely be benching Crosby today. To put it as clearly as possible: winds can definitely have a big affect on the game on the field, tread cautiously if you've got anyone in this game.

I live about three blocks from Soldier Field and was just outside walking to/from breakfast. There are a ton of GB fans here. It is EXTREMELY windy and very cold. The sun is peeking out from fast-moving clouds. There are snow flurries, though if they're like this it's not a huge deal. Nothing is sticking. The cold shouldn't be a big deal, either, but the wind should be. It is constant and the gusts are very, very strong. It seems like it would have to affect the game.

 Now this is why we subscribe to this website. A guy right at the field. Thanks for the post.

Final decision for me is I'm starting P. Manning over Farve. I was with Farve last week but I'm just too scared of the conditions. My opponent has Jennings as well so I'm just going to roll the dice and hope Farve doesn't hook up with him and Manning has a decent day in the dome.

I went outside for 5 minutes without gloves, and I thought my hands were going to fall off. It is COLD. Not good weather at all. This game is going to be ugly.

I feel a bigger deal should have been made out of the weather here amongst the FF community.. from the sounds of things Favre knew he would be doing diddly this game.

Cost many a chance at their title game I'm sure.

I made a post this morning that the wind was howling and everyone else in the Chicago area concurred. ANyone who read this thread would have known Favre was a bad start.

A big :lmao: to this thread.

I benched Favre and played McNabb and now still have a shot at a victory.

Please tell us you aren't serious?
Well, the extreme weather conditions didn't come out of nowhere mid game and if Favre knew pre-game he wouldn't do anything, this is pretty vital information to know. With all the fantasy resources out there these days, is it really that much to ask for?

This thread was a good start and you need to take responsibility instead of blaming others. :bowtie: :pickle:

I do, but doesn't mean I can't blame others while I'm at it. It's not a zero sum game.More influence from 'experts' might have saved me from my own ineptitude.

Not bad, but a tad predictable. Not unlike the weather.

This thread basically saved my championship. I was planning to start Favre all week and after waking up this morning (with a nasty hangover :goodposting: ) , I decided to drag myself out of bed and check the Shark Pool, like I normally do before the games, and after reading about the Chicago weather in this thread, I decided to go with Mcnabb over Favre. Thats about a 27 point swing in my league. And the incing on the cake is my opponent decided to leave Driver in. I guess he doesnt read the Shark Pool. Nice.

This thread was on page 1 of the board all last week.I read it last week and benched Jennings because of it.

Do you want a text message sent to you personally??

Sorry to be a bit sarcastic, but seriously, what are you looking for??

I was obviously being a bit obtuse. But let me play devil's advocate anyway, this thread does mentions wind and how it will affect Crosby. To be fair there was a thread that mentions Favre and the wind, but mostly he was shot down. You benched Jennings, as I bet you had a great 2nd option on your bench. Just like the guy who benched Favre for McNabb. I just think most people would take random guy suggesting it on the message board as an overreaction, after being shot down by 10 others, when no paid 'expert' addresses the issue leading up to the game.

I'm not sure if you were being obtuse if you feel the need to refer to "experts" in the condescending way that you are doing so.The guys on this site do a great job, but they aren't God and they can't manage your team for you. I looked very carefully at the weather forecast, mostly from reading this thread, and I decided to bench Jennings because of it. Now, I did have a pretty good option on my bench to start in his place, but when I saw wind chills in the single digits and 30 MPH winds with a chance of snow, I didn't feel comfortable taking a chance on Jennings.

Actually, I can't see how anybody who saw the weather forecast last week wouldn't be very hesitant to start QB's, WR's, and K's from this game. If you had a reasonable option on your bench, it should have been exercised.

That's the thing. I'm really not referring to them in a condescending way. They are way better than me, and I'd expect the projections/rankings to reflect that. I don't see why you can't allow them to have made a mistake by having Favre as top 8 QB with their Sunday update.

OK. They made a mistake rating Favre as #8. Not their first mistake, won't be the last. There is still some responsibility on your part to manage your team. I look at the rankings as just another piece of info to process, not as the be all and end all of who to start.

Look, if I didn't have an underperforming, but still dangerous Steve Smith sitting on my bench, I would have played Jennings and I would be in the same boat as those that started Favre. In that case, I wouldn't come on this board and say that somebody should have told me not to do it. It's my fault if I start the wrong guy and it's my fault if I don't have multiple options on my bench.

In other words, it's my team and my fault.

We agree then. It was my fault. And they made a mistake.
