Here it is.....my KC mock draft. I looked for my predictions from last season but they have been purged long ago.

----------------------------------------

1. Holmes WR OH ST-The more I hear about this guy the more I like him, especially his character. When asked in an interview recently about what he would do to celebrate his first TD, he said he would hand the ball to the ref, like he was taught. I LOVE that. KC has lost a LOT of depth in Boerighter and Horn leaving, and I dont think Jeris Mcintyre is an answer, Cro Thorpe hasnt shown much yet. I would love to get Holmes in the offense as a #2-3 and let Dante Hall just do is return job and totally forget about playing WR.

2. Winston OT MIAMI-He could be gone, but I have seen mocks with him going from 1.25 till our pick in Round 2. The kid is a team leader, and is one the fastest and quickest Ots in the draft. The reports from NFLE are that Will Svitek has been outstanding. If so thats fine. Willie Roaf is still going to retire this season more than likely, so Winston and Svitek would make a nice pairing 2007 and beyond. Svitek can start in '06 @ RT and WInston can start in '07. I dont envision Kevin Sampson, Jordan Black or Jeremy Parquet being the solution. If Winston is gone, the pick here would be........

3. Zemaitis CB PENN ST - With a new Cover-2 scheme being brought in, I think this guy is what we need. He doesnt have the man-to-man shutdown skills, but he is a player who seems to play better in a zone and is a leader and was a high character guy. If AZ is taken in round 2, I would nominate Dusty Dvoracek, DT -OKLA here. He is a high motor DT with a nasty side, something KC has sought for since 2002....Siavii, Sims and the like are not nasty boys.

4-pick to NYJ

5. Pinegar QB FRES ST-A guy who is one of those who will need some time to mature and learn. Trent Green still has 2-3 seasons left and Pinegar may not even be groomed as a starter, but with his production and his character, he is a guy who should play, at least as a backup, for a long time.

6. Ware, S SO CAL-Could be a huge steal here. Good tackler and tough as nails. Greg Wesley is a marginal NFL Safety and I really think Ware could start in 1-2 seasons. Also, Sammy Knight is over 30 and Jerome Woods may be cut, which means that Ware would have the door wide-open to earn PT.

6. Runnels FB OKLA-Is ROnnie Cruz the answer @ FB for KC? I dont know but I know that Runnels is one of the best blocking FBs in the draft and at the very least will make the team with his leadership, hard work and character. Seeing him play 4 times on TV gave me an appreciation for the guy. Is not a ball carrier but @ the end of his stay, neither was Richardson.

7. Busing OLB MIAMI (OH)-A sleeper/project who could end up playing as a SS. Shows great tackling abilty and is smart and plays well in coverage.
Nailed it.

Chiefs release 10-year veteran safety WoodsBy Len Pasquarelli

ESPN.com

Ten-year veteran strong safety Jerome Woods, a onetime fixture in the Kansas City secondary who lost his starting job in 2005, was released by the Chiefs on Thursday afternoon.

Woods

Woods, 33, appeared in only seven games in 2005, with two starts. He lost his starting job to Sammy Knight, who was signed last spring as an unrestricted free agent, and then was injured at mid-season. He recorded only two tackles for the year.

The addition of two young safeties in this year's draft, second-round choice Bernard Pollard of Purdue and seventh-rounder Jarrad Page of UCLA, helped make Woods expendable. The Chiefs coaches seem to like both of the rookies, who will be far less expensive as reserves than Woods, who had four years remaining on the six-year, $18 million-plus contract he signed in February 2004.

It had been rumored, even before the draft, that Woods' hold on a roster spot was tenuous, in part because he was not considered an optimum fit for the "cover two" defensive scheme that new head coach Herman Edwards is installing this offseason.

"It is always difficult to say goodbye to good football players and fine people," said Chiefs president and general manager Carl Peterson in a statement. "Jerome Woods certainly fits into both of those categories. ... He was a consummate professional on and off the field."

There figures to be at least a modest market for Woods, who could probably play a few more seasons as a No. 3 safety for someone, in free agency. Several teams continue to seek a veteran presence at safety and Woods, the Chiefs' first-round choice in the 1996 draft, will garner some consideration from those clubs.

In 128 regular-season appearances, including 105 starts, Woods amassed 720 tackles, five sacks, 12 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 15 interceptions and 49 passes defensed. A former University of Memphis star, Woods earned one Pro Bowl berth, in 2003, in his 10 seasons with the Chiefs. Most effective playing close to the line of scrimmage, Woods five times posted 70-plus tackles in a season.

The downside for Woods is that injuries have limited him to just 33 games over the last four seasons. He missed the entire 2002 campaign with a broken leg. Prior to that, Woods had missed just one game because of an injury in his first six seasons in the league.

Len Pasquarelli is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com.

I always thought he was a liability to their pass D. Maybe/possibly it's very hard to play in the secondary for them as they score quick and teams often try and counter with alot of passes(or so it seems) but he didn't seem to be the best outfielder IMO

he was more of a hitter and did not have much range imo. Since the rule changes enforcing the 5 yard bump he has been much less effective since the safety needs to be more of a CB/S blend.

Fox sports - Jets

Adam Schein:

Something pretty amazing happened at Jets mini-camp last week.

The head coach was late for his scheduled press conference.

Eric Mangini was too busy coaching.

That would've never happen during the Herm Edwards regime, as the loquacious coach seemingly was more interested in legendary pressers than longer workouts, and practices were dubbed "Club Ed."

The days of the entertaining pressers are gone.

But the road back to respectability has officially begun.

What do Chiefs fans think of Kris Wilson at this point in his career? If Gonzo were injured, how would Wilson do?

I see that Hermie is in mid-season form. The only adjustments Herm will make will be making a new list of coordinators to blame.
