Chinese jerseys vs. Real ones (2 Viewers)

I was looking into buying some jerseys (like a 49ers one and a derrick rose one) but I don't really want to spend the $100+ on the official ones, as I don't have that kind of cash right now. I've heard you can buy from chinese online sellers that are knock-offs for like less than $50

does anyone have any experience with these sellers? i would only be wearing them like on game days or whatever, not really that much.

I got one from ebay a couple years ago because I was looking for a non-official color scheme for my team. I am happy with it, but you can tell it's a knockoff on close inspection. The NFL shield (and any small patch) is poorly replicated. The jersey is pretty warm, making me account for it instead of just throwing it on when it's hot out.

There are more choices currently, and I would explore those. You don't need to go to the asian knockoffs. Google black shadow nfl jersey and you should find some good options.

there are many differences / you get what you pay for. If it were me, I would save my cash until I could get the real deal or not get one at all.

Knock-off jerseys can look really good, but don't expect them to last as long. Try to never put it in the wash, because it could fall apart. That said, I've been happy with the few fakes that I've purchased over the years. Just make sure that you take the time to make sure the fonts and stripes are correct. I laugh at the idiots who buy fakes that are completely wrong.

You may consider who your money is going to...these are not legit business...it is any organazation that wants to make money breaking our laws.

I question the folks on here that say there are no differences. Have these people ever owned an authentic? doesn't sound like it

Since authentics are so expensive I can see the logic in not buying them. However, anyone who thinks the knockoffs look like the real thing are kidding themselves. I have a knockoff McFadden and two authentics (Tim Brown/Asomugha). The difference in quality is night and day. By my experience with the $35 knockoff, the fabric and numbers feel cheap from the get-go. Then, once you wash them colors start to fade, the actual jersey shrinks unevenly and the numbers start to wrinkle. $200 is a ridiculous price to pay for an authentic if you don't plan on wearing it a lot, but you get what you pay for.

I bought 2 the normal NFL jersey are just fine. The mitchell n ness are good too but you can tell the difference between knock offs and real mitchel n ness

If your letting people that close to you to even tell the difference, thats a different problem, lol. :hophead:

I purchased a Packers Puff coat at NFLshop.com when it was on clearance this last summer. The first thing I noticed was the big "made in China" tag. It seems to me that China is making all the NFL gear whether or not it has the official NFL hologram tag. If I could pay full price and buy American, I would. However, next time I will be sure to save money and buy a knockoff replica.

Seriously..."my sweat shop, Chinese-made garment, is better than your sweat shop, Chinese-made garment" :bag: . Unless you plan on storming the field during the third quarter with your team down by 3, who cares???

Well there is a difference between a sweatshop making knockoffs and one making authentic ones.

If you intend to have it for a while, go authentic. If you are buying your kid one or something, get them a knockoff they can destroy.

I have no trouble pointing out a knockoff in person.

Rots of ruck.

I don't know from experience but a buddy of mine uses richshoes.com. I only have authentic ones (baseball and football) and we he came over with his I couldn't tell the differance at all, even on the Mitchells.

thanks for the advice so far guys

just thought i'd like to clarify that i'm not trying to compare the knock-off to a real, authentic jersey. i know they aren't in comparison. i'm just trying to get some jerseys that look mostly real and don't feel like they are just some plastic crap, that's really it. just ones that i can wear a few days a week for games over a t-shirt and wash maybe once a month

Really? You're going to go there, or are you just bitter that all your Michigan jobs are now in India and China? That and the cars you make are only good for Hertz and Avis.

Wait...like you can spot them or you actually walk around pointing them out?

I am imagining some guy with Tourette's just pacing outside of NFL stadiums. When he thinks he see's a knockoff, he goes buck wild. Possible jumping up and down while yelling "KNOCKOFF! LEMME SEEYA HALAGRAM!!!". He will be the guy in the Mickey Mouse jacket and shoes that have velcro.

I've bought a few NFL & NHL jerseys from tarajersey.com.

I've seen some people wearing obvious & noticeable fakes out there, but the ones I have appear real. I've never had anybody ask if they're real, but I have had many people compliment them.

Real NFL Authentic jerseys are made to withstand playing in an NFL game. The main difference is knock-offs would rip apart if a real lineman wore it in a game with opposing linemen pulling at it. But the good ones look almost identical, and will hold up for years of normal non-game wear. If you get a good knock-off, you really can't tell.

You can get a jersey for $38 shipped instead of $200, it's worth the risk.

They look and feel real...
what site did you get them from? sites are different
This is where a lot of folks here ordered jerseys. There were a few glitches from time to time, but overall I think they filled the orders pretty well.
I have bought from this site and was pleased with it. Bought a hockey jersey also and it was nice. Agreed that if not careful that the numbers do get a little scrunched but not too bad. I cannot compare to the real thing though but a buddy of mine who had a real one was pleased with his supply from here. There was 6 of us that purchased at same time and all were pleased.

There's really no reason not to buy an authentic if you are planning to use it more than once. For instance, I only have one (Hester, even though I'm nto a Bears fan) and it is from his rookie season.

I still wear it, and it's probably going to be pretty darn cheap on a "per use" basis by the time I stop using it.

In fact, I'm considering a Bradford jersey, and I'd like the Texans to get a young stud that I can really root for, since the Rams and Texans are my AFC and NFC teams - parents team I was always exposed to plus growing up in Houston when the tea was created.

I think there are some terms getting thrown around here that mean different things to different people.

If you go to NFL.com there are 3 levels of jerseys you can buy...replica ($75-$85), premier ($125-$150), and authentic ($285 - $300).

I can think of a lot of reasons not to buy an authentic.

I only partially agree with this. Often you pay the middle man and can save money by being a wise shopper.

Are they always $45.99?

Yeah, pretty much have always been the same price when I have looked. You can get a better deal if you buy multiple jerseys. If you order 5 they are only $26, and the 5 can be of any jersey not all the same one.

Yep...3 levels of jerseys in the NFL, with the pricepoint being a screen-printed version. Some leagues have a screened option (NFL, NBA)...some don't (MLB).

 @ half the responses in here. Sounds like a lot of these guys either got hosed on lousy knockoffs or found out about the good ones after they'd already paid far too much for an authentic.

Of course there are knockoffs that are cheap and easily identified. But there are also plenty of them out there that are pretty much indistinguishable from the authentics. We're talking about clothing here... it's some material and some stitches, and that's about it. The only real difference between the authentics and the better knockoffs are whether or not they got the NFL's blessing to make them. And given that we're talking about novelty shirts that probably cost less than $5 to make and are being sold for $200+, I'm not really bothered by whether or not they are "real." At the end of the day, who really cares?

Not to mention that the very, very few people (and I highly doubt that there are really any of them in this thread) who really could tell the difference are obviously a bunch of :nerd:s whose opinions you shouldn't really value anyway.

Do your homework and save yourself $150-$200.

:lmao: Other than obvious things like mispellings or use of an "O" in place of a "0".....typically look for things like:- cheap twill

- incorrect font

- incorrect braids, piping...wrong colors, etc

- cheap clear buttons

- flock transfers in place of embroidery

- labels

No offense, but these would all be ridiculously obvious to anyone who puts in even 5 minutes of research. As I said, there are definitely plenty of cheap knockoffs out there... but there are also plenty of very, very good ones.

Regarding factory differences, manufacturers like Reebok and Nike have to go thru approved factories....these other Chinese manu. don't...which is one way they can produce cheaper.

Some of the production is also done in the US. Name/number sewing, screenprint, etc.
