Chris Brown-RB-Titans Feb. 20 - 10:32 am et

As expected, the Titans have not been in contact with free agent Chris Brown.

He'll be allowed to test the open market, and Denver has already been mentioned as a potential landing spot. Brown's running style is considered a good fit for a zone-blocking scheme.

Every available RB wil be rumored to Denver at one point or another this offseason.
:goodposting: Chris Brown in my opinion is not the type back Skeletor likes - he is often injuries and Skeletor is on record as stating that he wants a back to be able to carry the load full time and not have to come out on short yardage or passing downs.

He's already got one back with turf toe problems.

I get the feeling Brown may end up in Denver South, alongside Kubiak, Dayne, & Plummer.

But I heard he was heading for Houston and if that happens - then the position will need to be filled.

Brown did play his college ball at Colorado, so maybe this rumor could have some merit.

It's always good to go back home. :pickle:

Brown looking forward to leaving town

While some Tennessee Titans players are torn between testing the market and trying to strike a deal to stay in Nashville, one Titans free agent has had his bags packed for a while.

Unrestricted free agency can’t come soon enough for running back Chris Brown, who fell out of favor with the Titans and to third on the depth chart behind Travis Henry and LenDale White last season.

Brown, a two-year starter and former 1,000-yard rusher in 2004, is about to gain his freedom, and his agent says Brown is excited.

“We’re preparing Chris for free agency, and we’re looking forward to it,” Ryan Morgan said.

Brown had requested a trade through his agents, Morgan and Wynn Silberman, during training camp last season, but those pleas fell on deaf ears as the Titans were still trying to sort out how they were going to handle their running back situation.

At the time, there was speculation that the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and Denver Broncos might possibly be good fits for Brown.

“Those were some of the teams that we felt might be a good fit at the time, but we’ll reassess the situation and we’re exploring what our best options might be once free agency begins,” Morgan said.

Brown was the first-team running back for three of the Titans’ first four games. However, he lost out to Henry and White and played in just two of Tennessee’s final 12 games. He finished the season with just 156 yards rushing on 41 attempts.

Morgan said the lack of use in 2006 should mean that Brown has plenty of tread left as he readies to begin his NFL life anew once free agency begins March 2.

“We feel like Chris has a lot left for whichever team he winds up fitting with,” Morgan said.

Morgan said the Titans have not contacted him at all, meaning what most already believed, that they will cut ties with Brown and allow him to move on.

This is one of more intriguing RB FA this offseason. Not sure he ends up as a primary RB but more likely in another RBBC. I know that while everyone will be rumored to Denver, this might make the most sense as far as where Brown fits. With Mike Bell in place, Brown would be a nice compliment in that system. Not sure Brown will be happy in a RBBC but it might be the best fit for him considering he hasn't proven he can handle a full load without needing a toe truck.

I see the Giants as a likely home.

Running back watch

Tatum Bell could be on the move, but there are other veteran running backs who will be available in free agency. The biggest name to keep an eye on, particularly in Denver, is Indianapolis' Dominic Rhodes. He already has said he would be interested in Denver. Rhodes weighs 203 pounds and is stout, the kind of factors Denver is looking for in a back.

Another player likely available will be Baltimore's Jamal Lewis. He is expected to be released in a salary-cap move. Lewis re-signed with the Ravens last year hours before he was to visit the Broncos. The Broncos' interest might be less this year, but Lewis is the big-back type. If he comes at the right price, Denver could make a move.

A less expensive option could be former CU star Chris Brown. He is known to have interest in the Broncos. Other teams that might look at Brown include Houston, Baltimore, Minnesota, the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

I was thinking him or possibly tinker bell

Both tall but opposite styles. Brown's big and plays more of a small/speed game and while Jacobs is big and plays power game.
I know, I'm just talking height....that would have to be the tallest backfield in the league, by a large margin.

Tom Coughlin: " . . . I don't keep score."John Mara: "Well then how do you measure your team against the competition?"Tom Coughlin: "By height."
