Don't mess with Texas
New Orleans Saints running back Chris Ivory has undergone surgery to repair a sports hernia, coach Sean Payton announced after practice today.Ivory, who led the team in rushing as a rookie last season when injuries ravaged the depth chart, had been missing training camp as he recovers from foot surgery.Payton said he expects it to take about three weeks for Ivory to recover, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The Saints have a full backfield now with Pierre Thomas, first-round draft pick Mark Ingram and free-agent addition Darren Sproles, who is expected to fill the role in the offense previously held by Reggie Bush.Follow me on Twitter: @BradBiggs

I don't think this is a big deal. He might have missed the next 3 weeks anyway due to his prior surgery. And he's mired behind a lot of guys on the depth chart. I wouldn't expect him to get significant play time unless injuries pile up like last year.

Can't seem to find any new news on Christopher Ivory. I think he's worth a stash in dyno leagues, but I'm not sure of the extent of his injury or the timeline for his recovery.

The kid averaged over 5.23 yards per carry in limited duty last year.

Chris Ivory (Lisfranc surgery, sports hernia) has yet to participate in practice.

Ivory still can't pass a physical. And considering the serious nature of his injuries, we're not expecting to see him anytime soon. Ivory is a candidate for the PUP list to open the season and he isn't draftable in fantasy. Aug 15 - 9:37 AM

The New Orleans Times-Picayune believes Chris Ivory (Lisfranc surgery, sports hernia) could "potentially be healthy enough to play by Week 1 or 2."

Still on the active/PUP list, Ivory has yet to practice. The Times-Picayune concedes that Ivory won't be rushed in a deeper backfield this year. He remains a candidate to miss the first six weeks on the reserve/PUP list.
