not happening
Titans went a real long time with no true game breakers. Fisher once gave a real long wonderful speech on this that you can prob find at titansonline.com.
Before him maybe Dyson, maybe that Chris Sanders. Like them though, they had Roydell Williams who could somehow get open deep and drop gimmes.
They were, forever, burdened with these effective efficient guys that weren't hitting any home runs. Few teams took as long to score a TD each week. I wholeheartedly believe they would have been the worst team in the NFL if not for Munchak's OL all those years.
CJ's arrival gave Fisher leverage to convince them to get/draft Britt which was the highest WR they picked in a zillion years.
For some reason, many around here seem to forget the Titans were the top team in the NFL just a few years ago and had a 13-3 or 14-2 record. They quickly lost in the playoffs, but their regular season record and the accompanying stats were awesome. The last game or two wrecked what was a D only allowing about 11 points per game. Their weak offense only needed to score 12 to win(in theory) and this is probably why they didn't get so much love. Regardless, they were excellent recently.
Schwartz really hurt them leaving and took some key players in free agency. Haynesworth wanting 100 mil ended his career(about) and the Titans throne as a top D. He was as good a DT as I've ever seen for a year or two-definitely the fastest 330-350 lb guy I've ever seen. They had three top DBs that made the pro bowl and all-pro teams. Hope is gone, literally too. Finnegan lost his head with Andre and hasn't been the same since. He was great before. It's like the just have Griffin left. Kevin Mawae should go in the HOF and they lost a very key lineman. Before him, they did also have HOFers which is simply more credit that's due to Munchak. They had two awesome line coaches. One is now in Philly, the other is their head coach with not enough time to coach them one on one. Their OC died and their warrior QB died a year or two before briefly into his retirement. What they have left is what they have left. I mean it does seem like that. These are all that remains.
To give up one of the few that remain won't happen. Fisher had a gift for getting it done with whatever the GM gave him. Munchak doesn't and probably few others can do it like Fish. This doesn't in anyway mean CJ is walking. They still have two excellent tackles and a great blocking TE. It's something.
As I already wrote two or three times and surely will be written by many-their interior OL is pitiful and they're sure to address it in the offseason. During that best year I mentioned above, Roos was 1st team all-pro while Stewart was second team all-pro. They are extremely fortunate to have two Ts that were drafted late blossom into such great players. (again, Munchak OL coaching job) I'm so sure they know how lucky they are to have those Ts.
This is just PFT making a story in their classic fashion
