**Christmas Day - Giants at Eagles** (-13.5, 43) 4:30 (1 Viewer)

A lot of negativity here by Eagles fans, but this was not a terrible performance by Eagles by any stretch. Only close off a couple fluky turnovers. Defense was better. Offense showed they're still dangerous. One and done talk is a bit over the top IMHO

That said, the defense is still not that good. A playoff caliber team getting the turnover breaks Giants did would have won. THis Eagles team has the firepower on offense, and the ability to occasionally make a sack that makes them capable of beating almost anyone in a shootout, but it's really hard to see this defense letting them string off several in a row against playoff caliber opponents. Will take a lot of luck and some defensive adjustments to get back to the Bowl but nobody should wanna play them in the playoffs.
20-3 prior to special teams gift wrapping a short drive TD for the Giants and then the Pick-6 on Hurts late 3rd, again nothing to do with the Eagles Defense
Eagles offense was looking strong in the 1st and 2nd Q, they did what they had to in the 4th to win the game

Maybe they aren't as good as last year but they are likely to open at home vs Rams/Seahawks? I'm sure they wouldn't mind a revenge game against Seattle.

Is Philly now the 2 Seed?
What about the Detroit Lions?
They don't even have the division locked up. Pretty sure they need to beat Giants again in final week to lock that up, but seems likely they will. Win both and they're at least the 2 but nothing is certain right now....could be 2 or 3 or 5. (San Fran isn't losing two in a row to let Eagles steal the 1)

I thought defense overall was.....better? OK? Not great. Yardage numbers were fantastic if you take away the 70 yard TD, decent even if you count it, but a better QB would have hit a couple of those passes Tyrod missed. The real concern is the lack of big plays by the defense except for a (surprisingly) rare sack and the inability to stop teams on third down.

Offense showed they can adjust, and will be dangerous anywhere, but the best we can hope for this defense is to give them a chance in a shootout... they aren't going to dominate anyone at any time. Makes them dangerous, but ultimately likely too flawed to go all the way

Detroit is going to lose on Sunday. Dallas at home might be the toughest place to play.
What if Dallas doesn't bring their A-game and Detroit starts feeling good about themselves and decides to take one from the Cowboys, what then?
I don't disagree that Dallas would be a favorite but Detroit is pretty good at the same time.

This is all very plausible. But Dallas at home has been pretty unstoppable. Dallas on the road is good but not great, by contrast.

We can play "what ifs" all day. The fact is, Dallas, at home has been dominating all season long. It's possible, they could lay an egg, no probable, but possible.
