Chromebook -- Highly recommend (1 Viewer)

Just received an email from my kids' school.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to make you aware of a concerning trend that has recently come to our attention, known as the "Chromebook Challenge." This involves students intentionally inserting objects such as paper clips or pencils into the USB ports of their school-issued Chromebooks. This behavior can cause the devices to short-circuit and, in some cases, even pose a fire hazard.

Unfortunately, we have already received damaged devices that will no longer charge due to this type of misuse. When a device is turned in for repair and damage to the port is confirmed, this will be documented in the report from Lenovo. In these cases, the cost of replacement will be charged to your student’s account.

We ask that you please speak with your student(s) about the seriousness of this issue and the importance of using their school technology responsibly. Deliberate damage not only results in financial consequences but also disrupts their learning.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in keeping our students safe and accountable.

Sincerely,

I had no idea this was a thing.
