CJ2K vs. Indy run D (1 Viewer)

The Indy run D has been putrid, but the Titans have been imploding. What do we see for Chris Johnson for week 14? Start him with confidence?

As dissapointing as he has been lately, he is just too talented not to play him. I would have to have a Jamaal Charles like RB to even consider benching Chris Johnson. Indy has a terrible run defense and I think he will carve it up as long as they can keep the game close. I'm thinking it will be considering the Indy struggles of late. Fisher needs to regain control of his team.

Can we change his name to CJ1K? I'm not optimistic, but I'd say 16-18 carries for 72 yards and a 50/50 chance of a TD. If the game is close, the numbers will be closer to 100 yards rushing and a 70% chance of a TD.

I'm thinking about benching him for Ivory or maybe even Tolbert. He's had 20 carries in the last two weeks (7, 13). I don't understand Fisher.

I'm playing w/ Charles and McFadden, I have no other options (except maybe Goodson, which is a stretch)

You cannot bench any RB vs Indy's run defense. Tashard Choice and Felix Jones just ran for 188 yards and a TD vs them. Chris Johnson is your #1 draft pick. You play him this week. Despite his performance lately.

From Chris John's Twitter.....

"Take my own advice "HOLD YA HEAD" get greater later"

Does this mean he'll have a big game vs. Indy?

they play the Colts twice every year. I'd look up how he's done in the past to make a decision

Nope not with this matchup....he will explode this week.
It's hard to blow up if your coach is giving you the ball.
He will be fed early and often. They can;t win unless they run, run, and run some more and keep Manning off the field.Start him with confidence.

The only way they were going to win the last two weeks was if they went with a heavy dose of LBJ. Instead Fisher decided to put the game in the hands of Rusty Smith and Kerry Collins.

Ok....roll with who you want. It is your team. Hope it works out for you.

Where the heck is the offensive continuity with this team. The OC better figure out how to use the offensive weapons he has or this team will continue to flounder. This is a team that is having trouble getting first downs let alone scoring. Even the Indy defense can perform against a team that continues to shoot itself in the foot. If Manning gets the Colts up by a couple of TD's what will the Titans do? They couldn't move the ball in the air against the Jaguars for cripes sake.

The way the team is headed you'd think the OC would do everything in his power to save his job and give CJ the ball. You figure no one can blame a coach who tries to utilize his best (and nearly only) weapon, but you fire the guy who tries to get cute and win with the scrubs when the star is healthy. The fact is that two weeks ago everyone said Tenn would try to win it with their star because only an idiot would put the game in the hands of a no name rookie QB, but they did. Last week we all said, this will be the week they go with CJ because Collins is just good enough to get the attention of the defense and he still got only a modest amount of touches. Logic doesn't apply to this situation anymore. There are no stats, arguments or history that tell you what is going to happen. If your gut says this is the week he goes off then you roll with CJ. If not, then #1 pick or not, you set him on your bench and look for a better option.I'm deciding between Blount or McFadden instead of CJ, but somewhere deep inside me, where no press clipping or random post from an insider can get to, where chaos lives and instinct rules, I think Johnson will break one of his 65 yd TDs and end the day with 145 total yds and 2 TDs.

Two weeks burned, I feel teams have gone balls out to stop the Tenn run and it's working. I've got blount in his place and not feeling that bad about it right now.

What happend to screen plays to CJ? Not checkdowns, but screens? That's a way to get him a blocker or two, some space to gain speed and fly past linebackers and into the secondary. Should be at least 2-3/game.

Dude, that last paragraph was beautiful ;-)Gosh, I. Hope you're right.

I feel like the key to victory over the Colts the past few weeks has been to keep Manning on the field as much as possible. The more he's out there, the more picks he throws, and the more points your defense adds to the scoreboard. :D

He had 13 carries this week and averaged 4 ypc. The week prior he had an awful ypc but only 7 carries. For a guy known for ripping off long runs, he wasn't given the ball enough to do that. It's not that teams are stopping them...it's that the Titans aren't giving him the ball. To me that is by far the biggest thing to worry about.

That is the biggest concern, but you can't overlook the fact that defenses are stacking the box and it has been pretty effective. It seems somewhat fishy that they have given him so few touches. I would think that even if you're losing you would want to get the ball in your best player's hands. Something doesn't seem right with the whole thing.

Do all of you wondering about continuity and the OC wanting to save his job know that Mike Heimerdinger (the Offensive Coordinator) was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago? He's undergoing chemo therapy now and has basically relinquished control of the offense.

Gotta think that hurts CJ and might be a reason for some of their offensive woes in the last few weeks.

I didn't watch the Texans game, but I can tell you that last week he was getting nothing on his first-half carries and the Titans weren't moving the chains to get him more attempts. The score was 17-0 and the game was in the 2nd half before he had some good gains that raised his average. By that time it was too late to ride him.

Nine first downs against the Texans in Week 12.Eleven first downs against the Jags in Week 13.

Think on that for a moment. They're averaging fewer than 3 first downs per quarter. And these aren't shutdown defenses.

This team is beating itself right now. Until that stops happening I don't see how you can predict anything but a struggle for CJ.

who is CJ2K?? if you're talking about Titans RB Chris Johnson , in 3 games against the Colts, he avg's 18-74, with just 1 TD..

Benched for LeSean McCoy until further notice. This of course means he'll blow up for 43.1 points this week, and then I'll play him next week to the tune of 5.3 points.

Great posts from both of you. I guess the question is whether you think this is the week the Titans will stop shooting their foot off.

Does his out look change with Britt back?

I really don't trust what I see out of TEN, and have had CJ benched ever since they announced Rusty at QB. It helps in my case I'm sick deep at Running Back (Charles, McCoy) - most people wouldn't have the luxury of benching CJ, but if you can avoid him at this point that's the way to lean.

Ya, simple. Now if I can only find another top 10 RB. ;)

Hey, if the trainwreck there keeps playing like they have the last couple of weeks, he's not a top 10 RB. Yeah, we all know what he's capable of, but if you don't get the ball (or when you do there are linebackers hitting you 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage), it's really hard to look like Gayle Sayers. Val

I'm starting him with confidence. Very happy his next two games are IND and HOU.

Lets do this!

I'm in a similar situation. I have Moreno and Hillis, so I'm probably going to sit CJ this week, which is the first round of our playoffs. It just doesn't seem right though.
