same. just finished ad and tesla upgrades so i just hit the road to TH8 last night. i do have some collector and wall upgrades left, but i got bored with TH7 and the TH upgrade is 8 days so I should be at least done with the walls by the time it completes. More importantly I hated seeing my lab be idle for so long, complete normal non-DE upgrades a week ago and don't have enough DE to upgrade anything.

This is what happened with me when I went to TH8. I still don't have all my collectors upgraded, but at TH7, I had maxed out everything else (including walls) and couldn't sit on piles of resources while I waited for the collectors to upgrade.

This time, I'm not upgrading my walls (leaving them at purple) until I've done everything else. Then over the last few weeks or whatever of being TH8, I'm just going to farm a crapload of gold probably with ridiculouz wizard/dragon armies, dump them into my walls + let the collectors upgrade.

 
What are your thoughts on DE upgrades in the lab at TH7? I am nearing completion of my elixir upgrades, but my BK is still level 1 and have not upgraded minions or hogs (20,000 DE seems far-fetched for a TH7 anyways) I'm thinking the DE drill will help this significantly. I was thinking of just focusing on BK upgrades and try to get him to level 3 before upgrading to TH8. Even getting 15k DE seems difficult to do as a TH7.

 
TH7 you won't have enough DE for any sustained use of DE troops. While you could use minions, you really don't need to.

So yes, I'd save the DE for upping your BK to level 5. His rage ability is definitely useful to you. When you hit TH8, then start the troop upgrades.

They're mostly used in GoWiPe armies right now but most ppl consider GoWiWi more consistent so Pekkas are more for fun. Disclaimer; I haven't seen how the new Pekka level impacts this.

I wouldn't hurry for them, not really useful until high level play if at all.

Their stats are more powerful, but they run into walls, seem to move slower, and get hit by all defenses minus AA. I'd think dragons are more useful.....

By upgrading barracks. Each level of barracks allows you to build a new troop:

Level 1 (when a barracks is first built): Barbarians

Level 2: Archers

Level 3: Goblins

Level 4: Giants

Level 5: Wallbreakers

Level 6: Balloons

Level 7: Wizards

Level 8: Healers

Level 9: Dragons

Level 10: Pekkas

 
A few of the early single player games can be beaten very cheaply with a single balloon since they just have cannons, nothing that can shoot air units. You can request balloons for your Clan Castle troops and use them in your attack to pick up some easy resources that way even before you can make them yourselves. Helps if you let the clan know you'll be asking for some in advance, as they take 8 minutes to create.

Edit to add: make sure you touch the screen every once in awhile as you wait for the balloon to wipe everything out, as it times out in about 3 minutes and quits the fight if you don't.

Defense left - Two L6 Teslas Two L10 Arch A handful of bombs

Collectors - Most are 8 and 9. A few up to 11. Probably a total of 35-40 collector upgrades left.

Walls - All Purple maybe a half dozen black pieces.

I still have a ton of DE troop upgrades to make. I'm starting to see the value in upgrading golems and minions at TH8. Haven't touched pekkas either.

I have a week vacation coming up. Trying to decide whether I want to start th9 over that time period or just wait out the 2-3 months for all the research to finish.

By my math all 5 workers will be idle in 16 days.

Need to run the math on that again, but collectors aren't really going to make or break my decision here. Someone has an excel sheet somewhere. I'll have all my last tower upgrades kicked off by tomorrow AM.

Yah sounds like you can keep your builders busy with collectors while you spend more lab time on DE troops, Golems and Minions are needed for high level raiding. Lab upgrades are the bottleneck as you get higher, many of them take 14 days.

That's what I'm thinking. You have the opportunity to keep the builders productive while you keep up with lab upgrades. You'll probably appreciate that when you get to TH9.

 
ive been maxing my collectors during the th9 upgrade. all are maxed except a couple which is no big deal

 
Just checked back in the old thread. March 28 is when I hit TH8. So spent around 100 days there.

Difference in resources between level 9 collectors and level 11 collectors over those 100 days is about 11.5 million of gold and elixir each.

 
Some of our posts in the original thread as newbs are so adorable. Being worried about the 700 gold we might lose if attacked, etc.

Are L4 hogs war attack cc approved?

92 dps doesn't exactly suck compared to 105 for L5.

Based on all of the guidance in here I made sure that happened before I hit the upgrade button. It's like a mini-raid every time I log in now and it's one less thing I have to worry about upgrading.

I tend to ask or go case by case. The higher level guys or those that have a tough base to attack I let the L5 hog guys fill. The low level guys, level 4 probably enough in most cases

You also lost about 2.2 million of each while upgrading all collectors from 9 to 11. Assuming you collected every bit since (and lost none to raids), the delta is around 9.3 million of each -- which of course is still really good!

But there was another cost that should be factored in -- builder days. You spent 84 builder days that could have been used elsewhere.

I was just thinking last night, as I sent out 4 workers to clear the trees/bushes/mushrooms for the day, how I use to have to save up to get a single tree removed to help with my base layout. Good times.

 
For any TH8s, the regular bombs can be upgraded to L5 now.

I guess they moved down the TH requirement since they added a new bomb level.

Yeesh. Even bombs are pricey. I can upgrade a tesla with the amount it costs to upgrade 2 of my little bombs.

I'm really doing something wrong though. When I watch the videos, nothing is popping out of the ground. When I fight this one, #### pops out of the ground and owns my troops.

Bombs or spring traps. Once you know where they are, send a single unit over to set them off if possible, before sending rest.

You're definitely further along than I was when I jumped.

And I have no regrets. I think waiting until you are 100% complete before moving up works for some people, but it is overemphasized as the only wise course. For others like me, opportunity cost weighs significantly. I can have a fourth wiz tower, a couple of xbows, level 6 balloons etc. sooner, which in turn will help me steal and hold more DE than I could as a TH8.

Now I wouldn't advise upgrading TH if you are only 30-50% complete at your current level. But I wouldn't criticize someone who did it at 80%, as it can indeed work and may be the smarter play for that person.

ETA: whatever you decide, I would make sure your storages are full when your TH upgrade finishes.
