Clash of Clans (Official thread) (3 Viewers)

My best guess for ranking bases is something like this:

1) Calculate the base's DPS. Apply a factor to certain defense types (i.e. put a higher factor on XBows/Infernos due to their power, put a higher factor on splash so that it is roughly equal with tower damage, put a lower factor on Air so that it is roughly equal with tower damage).

2) Calculate total wall hit points. Apply a factor to make it not count all that much, but enough so that it still counts towards something.

3) Calculate total hero level. Or perhaps it is just DPS with a factor and can be filed under (1). Either way, they need a value.

4) Give each TH level a set value.

5) Calculate trap damage. Apply a factor to it. Not sure if it would have to be up or down.

Add everything up, and you have a base's value. Then just compare values between bases. I think a system like this explains some of the things we are seeing. Like L2 XBow bases being ranked behind L1 XBow bases, if there are enough other factors to overcome it. Like a huge jump in base ranking when new defenses are put down (they rapidly increase a base's DPS compared to just upgrading things). Like shuke not climbing in the rankings because DPS is such a large factor in the process.

ETA: Might be able to add a (6) which give a factor to offensive troops.
with all the excel gurus on this site we can crack this
Already volunteered to run the regression if someone wants to give me data for an entire Clan.

List exactly what each village has, and its rank. Wouldn't take much to get a good estimate of how each item is valued.

Might make sense to put together a template that will force everybody to submit the information in a uniform way.

How many CC spaces does a Golum use?
You will unlock golem before being able to get it in CC, unfortunatly. But witches are a very strong troop that you may dabble with as early as TH4 ;) Also, 3-4 furcoat giants isn't THAT far off from a golem (I think, need confirm).

I don't know what you mean. Unlock? I have Lev 2 Golum (th8) I was going to drop in a war cc for fun.

Ah okay I'm not always sure who is at what TH level in this thread. Figured anyone who'd unlocked golem knew what its troop size was.

Biggest difference would be spring traps.
This, and if you face a single target defense this may be true but if you end up facing a wiz tower or mortar early then it takes away from the aggregate health of the giants a lot quicker. i tried supplementing golems with furs in a war once and realized this when the giants got obliterated by two mortars and a wiz tower grouped in one corner where i dropped the giants. gone in seconds. a single golem would fare much much better in that situation.

Has anyone used Goloms in a defensive war CC to slow things down?

Should I practice hogging on #45?

Or GOWiPe #44?
45 is a great hog base but will be tough with level 3 hogs
Bummer. 7 days until my 4's are ready
We used to be fine running mostly low level hogs and cc max hogs. If you time the release of the max hogs right and get them away from the splash damage you can heal them all the way around the base while the lower level hogs do the bulk of the work. If no double bomb spots there really isn't a issue.

A google form ought to work. Would be easy for everyone to fill out, hit submit, and then the owner can put it into excel easily also.

ETA: http://www.google.com/forms/about/

I've got to finish some cases for a brief, but I imagine that each category would be like "How many Archer Towers?" What are the levels of AT1? AT2? AT3? and so on for each defense/wall/hero...

And don't forget about the death damage it deals as well as the 2 golemites that spawn after. You would need 6 LVL7 giants to begin comparing to a golem.

Someone in FBG4 did this past week. Forget who, and I forgot to see how it worked out.

Come forward, sir.

Wheres the best place to find new war bases online?
Imo the best place to find bases is wait till we get matched with an asia clan and steal the ones that give us the most trouble. The bases in this hemisphere are usually formed and refined on SC forums and reddit. The asia guys probably have their own base think tanks and usually the best ones ultimately get picked up and sent over.

I have a student teacher. I may be able to put a google form or spreadsheet together tomorrow if someone really wants to crunch the numbers.

I'm experimenting with my, probably stupid, hypothesis that a single Golem in a TH9 Clan Castle for defense can stifle some ground attacks for a few reasons...

I've been talking about it in FBG4 for a while and finally, the guys humored me and helped test it out...

The slow moving golem takes a bit longer than arch/wiz to get to the draw out point. The golems, don't deal much damage, but if they are engaging with the attackers within the the range of your defenses, it can be beneficial to allowing your towers to drop a few wizards and archers.

In our war a high level GoWipe just came at me and only managed 1 star

Balloon was deployed first and didn't draw the Golem out at all. Finally engaged with 2 golems on the edge of my walls where my opponent had to waste a Heal to keep their troops from getting murdered from my AT and Cannons. Finally, opponent, seemingly frustrated, used a zap to finish it off. Wasted 2 spells to dispense of my Golem and slowed the progress of his attack.

Opponent got to my TH but the attack ended at 47%

Obviously this was just one attack and I'll continue to test my theory here and keep the thread posted. If nothing else, he panicked and used 2 spells way too early and it threw them for a loop.

LEt's see, now that it's scouted out, how the 2nd attack fares.

I like the golem idea. A while go I was asking for a few cur coats and some wizards behind them. The idea being that I could buy the wizards a few seconds of dealing damage while the attackers took down the fur coats. I think it's interesting.

Upgraded Freeze is the best and most consistent way to deal with infernos and high level TH10 bases. In my clan a lot of new TH10's struggle in war until they get their Freeze upgraded. For war i think the freeze spell is priority #1 to research at TH10 (probably followed by golems).

Wouldn't the wizards be too fast? I'd think they get so far ahead of the furs that they'd be dead before the furs provided cover.

I was actually looking at this as well since my lab is 2 days from completing. I disagree about the golem though. Ground is dead and buried. Flying pigs rule the skies at TH10.

Okay...I think I'm going to begin my march to saving for TH9. I don't have much else to upgrade except for walls and a few elixir pumps. How much DE do I need to save in order to get my AQ day 1? I might try to sneak in 1 more BK upgrade during the 10 days it takes to upgrade.
I believe it's 40k to get her then it drops back down to 15? Or so for level 2 upgrade.

You can not get new PMs

I am going to make a google form for clanners to fill out

Is there anything you need or a specific way you want it compiled

Let me know and send me your email and I will share it with you

Am I the only guy that has this site on speed dial? http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Clash_of_Clans_Wiki

It answers all these silly questions in one spot
