Wasn't it like two weeks ago people were saying max TH8s that could take down TH9s in war were the major MVPs?

Less than a week ago TH8s were:

The competition for TH8 is about to get really intense. You can pull 10-15 of those in and they can donate max level troops and can still snipe for the high clanxp stars. TH8 will be like a 330 pound linebacker out of Louisiana that runs a 4.5 and benches 600 pounds.

My pre-draft stock has fallen like a rock

No, this is where we will be once we hit level 5. For now TH8 are in the gutter. Short term sell long term hold.

Not sure why changing up is hard to stay with. Our TH mix will change which will result in others TH changing up and our approach has to shift with that.

Quattro and Honda are probably at a different phase right now and what I propose might seem really wacky.

I think it is the overuse of absolute words in some of your statements that tend to make folks raise an eyebrow...that or the changing mindset ever 3-4 days but I could be wrong. You've taught me more than most will ever make an effort to learn in this game so I mindfully follow along here and insert turrible jokes whenever possible whilst doing my best Bucky imitation on bases

It only took me about three months to max out my TH9 buildings, coming from a maxed out TH8. That didn't include maxing out my heroes.

As long as you are set when you can upgrade hounds to l2 to do so what you do between skulls and hounds should be whatever farming troop you use most.

• TH8 is the only TH that cannot 100% max it's own max. Even TH10 has an easier time 3 starring a max TH10 than a TH8 on a TH8. This is a flaw in the game, but it is what it is.
• The archer queen is the single biggest difference among-st TH10 and determines whether a raid is 1, 2, or 3 stars.
• For the moment, the most overpowered troop is the skypig. TH9 have no real answer for it. The sooner you get there the better.

This has always been my stance on upgrading - without your economy pumping in resources, you are dead in the water. That means farm troops need to be upgraded. For barch Barb 6 was a bigger upgrade than Arch 6.

You already have loon 6, so you can Dragloon for war attacks and be successful till you get hounds. Would probably do Hogs 5 after Barb 6. Then Hound 2 followed by Arch 6 or Minion 5. Of course there is a lot of DE needed for these, so availability comes into play.

So where to TH10's farm for elixir? Is it as painful as it is as a new TH9? Is it ever worth it to attack TH8's or is it purely a TH9+ farming world?

I hovered around 2000 trophies and barched. I hit a lot of easy TH8 too. It was not quite as bad as I thought it would be. I initially bought gems thinking I would take the easy road to getting my camps done. The 8MM elix I came into TH10 with, immediately went to lab, spell factory, and de drill builds. I gemmed the elix to get the first camp. Soon after I realized that since build times were SO long (10+ days) I didn't need to gem the others. My elixir stores were filling up naturally while waiting for a builder. And at 2000 trophies, no one really tried to take it from me (got shields from snipes all the time, leaving TH out). Gold adds up really quick too, got infernoes to L2 and L3 without much hassle. Also enough elix for freeze 2, 3, and 4 upgrades.

The approach that doc (beerguzzler) recommended obviously works too. But since I don't stay on for long raiding sessions, I was worried that once I was over 3 million elix or so, I would be an easy target for elixir hunters in master's. That dilemma of breaking shield to add 200-300k elix, only to lose it when you log off.

It was a grind for a couple of weeks, during which I back-burnered hero upgrades. That is definitely the downside to the approach I took vs. what doc recommends. Others in FBG1 have done something in between. I would say it depends on your preferred raiding frequency.

Skulls are max baloons. they have skulls on the sides, ergo, skulls.

hounds and skypigs are both names for lava hounds

It's not possible to skip TH levels, to skip a TH as is being discussed here means to rush through a TH level ASAP without taking time to do the upgrades. Unless you're Ron, then yes, all the upgrades were gemmed straight cash homey!
