Clash of Clans (Official thread) (5 Viewers)

At Silver 1, aren't you better off with just rolling out 220 gobs and hammering collectors? Won't get the big scores but if you're boosting for an hour its straight cash money homie. Been raiding with JR (as a TH8) in that range and it is nothing but full collectors. Never seen so much easy gold/elixir.

Will be raiding there for a while with JR (who is now all growed up to TH9!) and report back.

That's what I've been doing for the last couple months Cliff -- just cleaning up with Gobs and heroes.  But both heroes are down and this weekend has been slim pickins, so thought I'd try something new.

Hopefully this is either just a down stretch loot wise or they've changed the algorithm some and I'll find better bases again a bit higher up (seeing way more TH8s than usual right now), but if the good bases don't come back I'll have to figure something else out.

Damn can't figure out how to get the pictures to work on mobile. Anyway if someone can look at 11 and let me know thoughts on how to get the Queen to walk from the air defense at 8 to the one at about 5. I am worried she is going to take off the other way

Have been trying GiGob and would love to hear if/how others are dealing with my issues...

Takes 60 minutes for Jump + Rage to cook.  Are you gemming 24/7?

It's net negative on Elixir (spending ~150k and pretty much never get two storage units).

I get raided after every third attack while I wait for troops/army -- making the net negative Elixir loss worse.

Even if I gem spells I'm only attacking about twice an hour.  So average DE gain is maybe 4-6k per hour (Silver I, TH9).

Am I doing it wrong, or are these just things people are willing to live with?
Having done this for the last three days, this is by far the most efficient de farming method. Way better than AQ walks. I can live with the elix loss, although I got some whales and im probably in the plus right now.

In terms of the spells, I very rarely use them all. Typically, ill use one jump and one rage. Sometimes I don't use any.

What ive learned is that it is very base specific. Just next until you find the right base. I had to next an 8,000 de heist bc it was a ring base and I would have never gotten it.

I have made three raids today. One was 5800, one was 5400 and One was 4100. I can post them if you think it would be helpful

Eta: I just uploaded to youtubes. I'll post when it processed. In the first attack, you can see me trying to figure it out. Takes a little getting used to.

I rarely use spells. My GiGob troops cost about $100k elixir so I'm looking for some combo of accessible collectors and storages in the 200k range. If there is a huge score I'll use the jump and whatever other spells I need to get to the core.

I dropped down to Gold 1/Crystal 3 and I never get attacked seriously beyond collector raids.

I'm sure some of my problem is base selection since I've been doing nothing but collector/first layer raids for quite awhile now.

Decided to add some WBs, Giants, and Jump/Rage spells into the mix to give me ways to get into the first layer again.  Aside from being fed a steady diet of junk bases, with my AQ down I wasn't able to hit some bases I normally would.

Seems to be helping some so far even though I'm mostly staying out of the core.  Not sure if the days of the all-Gob raids are done forever or if I'm just in a really cold spell in terms of nexting.

Oh, now that I'm not in Honda you want to learn GiGob?!? LoL

Yeah, Acer is killing it over here. So is Jason from the DE numbers he's quoting. Someone will beat my record for daily farming, I know it!

But yeah, agree with the guys, decide how much you want to spend and find a base that is appropriate. After a little while, you can just see it in your scout and decide if want to spend two spells on that raid or not. Lately, I've been staying away from DE and doing primarily walls. I've been able to earn G&E at a pretty equal rate by keeping my spell use down. I can post some of those if you want to see them... It's more targeted small intrusions rather than larger, "All-in" type container type attacks.

There seems to be some evidence that they have changed the nexting pool a bit.  Inactivity now appears to be exclusively how long collectors have been not picked up rather than whether you attacked in matchmaking or war.  So if you want to maintain cups I guess the way to do it is to not pickup collectors.  It acts as a defacto free shield after a period of time which isn't exactly nailed down yet, but seems to be 48 hours or so.

This also greatly reduces or eliminates collector raids as it seems like they won't let collectors fill up and expose it to the matchmaking queue.

One of the few things I thought they got right during this whole update/earning mess was exposing the dead bases to the queue. Not a fan of this move if true. If you next through 25 bases you oughta be able to run across a dead base or two for a score. Are we heading back to the time right after the update when earning was at an all time low?

You mean the update that happened this morning?

As a fanatical collector collector this lines up with what I've noticed in the pat 4 days or so.

Im confused, my TH8 that I dont log into gets hit every 12 hours or so. I still get the notifications when an attack is going on. I havent logged into that account in weeks

Yeah, as of last night I was finding plenty of bases with full collectors that had been hit before.

JR would get popped 2-3 times previously then go untouched until I logged in again.

I looked at PDP, he's completely burned out now with full collectors.  So something pushed him into the queue at some point but he's since fallen out of rotation.

I haven't seen any burned out bases in weeks now.  I might be too high to find them.

In a war with a one canon plus 2 max infernos and 3 xbows (2 L2 and 1 L3). No walls. Ranks as the bottom 9. Going to be interesting to watch all the fails on it.

Question

My TH is showing that I have 20,000 DE in it right now. How do I use that?

I have been able to acquire 170,000 DE in 4.5 days. Now I just need to decide if I want to spend it on witch 3 or wait for another 2 days 14 hrs for my AQ to wake up and put her right back down.

How I can get to the 20,000 DE in my TH might affect my decision.

Have gone back to just GiBarch. 8 WB, 10 giants and the rest barch with gobs and CC furs and heals. Was passing on too many loaded TH8s with just gobs. GiGob without jump relies on WBs getting through multiple level which is just not good enough.

The gobs work if you have the boosted hour to spend but I haven't been getting attacked so the 15-20 minute build for a full GiBarch is just fine.

Your TH is just your 5th storage for gold and elixir and 2nd for de. Nothing different are far as using it.

I would think your focus would be hero's. Don't see you needing witches unless you are going to war.  Might as well put BK down and then farm the rest for queen while she is still sleeping.

I see. They changed the DE storage from 200,000 to 180,000. I never realized that

Maybe you are right. At this rate, I will be max in DE by the end of the day.

Ended up going full GiWi ... 27 Giants/16 Wiz/7Gobs/7WBs and all heals.  Slower than I was doing before, but at least for now that all-Gob/collectors-only build is off the table.  Just not seeing enough loose loot to make it work.

Clash royale is live. I played a few times. Seems ok so far. I liked it better than marvel fighting game.

Eta: I cant fight again for 3 hrs bc I have all my chest slots full. Not gemming. Might get old quick

It's interesting... I'll give it a chance and see how it ranks on the Skill/Luck chart.

This will be my last post on clash royale. I made a clan. Its fbgs. Use ffa as the password if I dont recognize your name there.

If there is enough interest, ill start a thread.

Carry on

The changes coming to Clan Wars matchmaking are as follows:

  1. War sizes 35v35 and 45v45 are being removed in order to boost available matches in other war sizes;
  2. Clan Wars matchmaking will place a much greater emphasis on defensive (village) progress, and less emphasis on offensive (army) progress;
  3. Powerful, late-game defenses and troops like Inferno Towers, Eagle Artillery and Grand Warden will have much greater matchmaking impact;
  4. Clan Wars matchmaking will favor matches between Clans with similar recent win/loss records in their recent wars;
  5. Team-versus-team compositional checks have been added to help weed out imbalanced war matchups.

At the same time, matchmaking calculations have been rebalanced with the goal of better representing village progress. Previously, a village could be carefully manicured to hide a powerful defense or troop from matchmaking. For example, a player could intentionally not build X-Bows and under-upgrade other defenses to hide an Inferno Tower from matchmaking, and be treated as a TH9-level defense. Now, Clan Wars matchmaking will make a much sharper distinction between players who have built high-level items and those who haven't. Not only will this prevent higher-level players from preying upon lower-level players with hyper-optimized War Bases, but it will also allow high-level players to upgrade lesser units, like Cannons or Minions, without worry of undue penalty by the matchmaking system.
Seems to say the opposite.

They can't have it both ways. You either weigh the th or you weigh the defenses. You can't up the big towers and not have people evaluate whether these are worth Engineering.

Devaluing offense for inferno eagle warden is a huge buff to 9.5 and 10.5. I seriously doubt they can or even care to figure out how to flag minimaxes.

What they are really trying to do is prevent th9s matching pink wall th10s with Max infernos and nothing else. If you read the forums it's all anyone #####es about. This is easy. Weigh infernos more. Weigh walls less. Check th mismatch. Which is what the big YouTube guys said was coming along with the "streak matching"

Also keep in mind their terminology isn't exactly in line with everyones common vernacular. They confuse a few terms.
