5/16 seems to be holding.  

Still nobody knows ####. 
or not.  Who knows anymore.  

I just don't really understand exactly how the vs. mode would be something novel and different than royale, yet fit in the framework of regular clash.  If it is a totally different game then it would have made sense to just launch a new app.  

That might narrow it down to something like the old game Uniwar.  A turn based game that isn't so much like royale.  If not that then a more command/conquer type game where you build a base from scratch each time makes some sense.  Both of those if fully developed would make a better standalone so as not to distract the core environment.  

Nobody has really ripped the C/C concept into a mobile game yet and got a huge hit.  It's a difficult concept to get on a small screen.  Really need a keyboard.

As you know we are working on a massive update, completely different from every other update and we couldn't be more excited to show it to you (very soon!).
In the meantime, learn about the balancing update for your home village that will go live at the same time as the BIG update! This round focuses on powering up late-game spells and helping the grind through Town Hall level 9.
 

  • NEW: Clone Spell level 5 (Town Hall 11)
  • Clone Spell levels 1-5 clone capacity increased • Clone Spell level 3 now available at Town Hall 10
Weak Clone Spells are underwhelming, especially at Town Hall 10, so we’ve unlocked more cloning capacity. The newest Clone Spell reaches 40 capacity, letting you get 8 Balloons or even 2 Dragons per spell!
 

  • NEW: Freeze Spell level 6 (Town Hall 11)
When facing off against the Eagle Artillery, every second of a Freeze Spell counts. The newest level helps to give your troops the time they need.
 

  • NEW: Heal Spell level 7 (Town Hall 10)
The utility of Heal Spells becomes quite limited against the heal-blocking effects of the Inferno Tower. A new level will help make those healing opportunities more compelling.
 

  • 7th Gold Mine and Elixir Collector now available at Town Hall 9 (was 10)
Resources are tight on Town Hall 9, so giving earlier access to these collectors will help ease the grind.
 

  • Bomb damage increased
This highly important change ensures that one Bomb will always destroy a Wall Breaker of equal level.
 

  • Balloon attack rate increased
Balloons have enjoyed very high use rates since their latest “fast drop” balancing. This change doesn’t affect the speed of the fast drop or damage per second, but an increased attack rate means each bomb does less damage. This softens their initial attack, but makes follow-up attacks happen sooner.

Upgrade Time/Cost Discounts:

  • Freeze Spell levels 1-5
  • Clone Spell levels 1-5
  • Heal Spell levels 4-5

The big change in the current world is the "modification" button on defensive buildings. There is probably a long list of options for it and no clue when it is unlocked. 

 
Can't update

get "a new version of the game is available" then I go to the App Store I get "open" and not "update"

Trying to figure out a strategy here.  Keep getting 100 v 100 results for no gold.  Spread my base out all over the place, but it just took longer to get three starred.  Can't upgrade anything yet.

Put your cannon in the middle of your other buildings.

So, I added the little spring trap like thingy and have won the last 3 battles.  Surrounded my cannon in the middle with walls and collectors then spread the rest of the buildings to the corners with the spring trap at the corner of one of them seems to be working.

Earned enough to start a second army camp.

 
I mean I get it they need to make money, but what amounts to a clone base with a fake PVP aspect isn't really groundbreaking.  

Can't see this bringing people back.  Had hopes it would be more of a command and conquer type environment where you start from scratch each time and do a true pvp, even a 2v2 type pvp like a starcraft in the future even.  They axed IOS 7.0 for this update which the primary reason 7.0 was axed was that it doesn't support device to device pinging.  Now the only ping you get is just to see if you won?  

And I haven't really figured it out yet but it appears that you MUST play in the night mode to unlock day mode defenses.  At some point the two bases have an interaction.  I play with a lot of people that have 3,4,5 up to 9 accounts.  That's a lot of work and time to get all that farmed out to stay relevant on the war scene.

I don't know, I may be in the minority but I'm genuinely excited to play the game again.

side note - if you're active on the "new" base does that shield your "old" base from getting attacked?

Yeah, there were people that were convinced they would launch first a 1v1 C&C mode, then expand it to 2v2, etc. with more stuff later.

So much for that.  

There just isn't much compelling here to grind.  Massive disappointment really.  They have a true pvp game released for what? 2 years now? And can't even get really what amounts to a new concept in this one.  And the daily hard cap of actually playing?  We in an arcade now?

You can use Gems to unlock more loot, pretty smart of them.  Give the casual players an easy to get daily limit of 6 attacks and if the trophy pushers want to pay to get more loot so be it.

It is going to take a week or two to figure out how this cross over impacts the real base, but it seems like it is going to add a bunch of different ways to change base design and attacks.

I know you are the eternal pessimist, but so far it seems like it is a very well thought out way to give everyone new content in a way that makes sense in the clash world. 

 
Update does nothing for current Maxxed TH11's who had full gold/elixer storages for months - nothing to spend it on.
Freeze & Clone the only things there.   I think that is also part of the point of making this world is they are done adding anything big to that main world since such a low percentage of players every get there.

I don't think that is the purpose of it.   I hit the cap for today and it was all of the loot needed to build and upgrade everything for TH2. The upgrade times are really fast in the new world as well. 

This is giving casual players something easy to reach so they don't feel overwhelmed and quit.  However, if you want to grind it out as fast as possible you can use gems and do it.   Keep in mind for 99% of people they have their main village to grind out also.

It was a great game, but time to move on to something else.  Or nothing.

I see culdeus is still prone to emotional responses and overreaction.
I wanted a pvp game, I got a pay to win environment with no PVP element at all. :shrug:

I also wanted a mod free game, and there seems to be no commitment to that either.  From what I understand they haven't handed out a single ban for modding this year.  The bans are so far for blockchain/keychain activity out of 2016 they are just catching up to.  And no perma bans since November AFIAK, just the 2 week ones.
