Class of 2012 Hall of Fame Finalists (1 Viewer)

LOL, apparently only JWB is allowed an opinion. Ask him about Tasker. ;)
I seriously doubt you have an informed opinion about Aeneas Williams if you think he isn't HOF worthy. :shrug:Tim Brown is more well known, and it will come down to what you value in how you judge him. I suspect he will make it, regardless. You don't miss an opportunity to slip in a mention of Tasker, which is good since he won't ever get legitimate mention in HOF threads. ;)

Tasker will be the Senior Candidate in about 25 years and I'll laugh thinking of you when they announce it. Honestly, Williams was the top of that "tier" if you will. Hard to argue for me either way. I know he was very well regarded.I think sometimes people get upset when the good, successful teams get more players in the HOF (including me: Myron Cope for HOF!) but really, when you play a less glamorous position, you need that team success. I was surprised and happy that Cortez broke through that barrier this year but Williams will have the same issues, fair or not. I'm clearly biased as a Bills fan, but I do think that Tim Brown is pretty overrated. People are making fun of Martin for being a compiler but really Tim Brown isn't that far behind. Unless I read wikipedia wrong, he has no All Pro selections, compared to 2 for Reed. His overall career stats are a little better than Reed's but again, the team success for the Bills, of which Reed pretty clearly contributed to, pushes him ahead of Brown. Both are behind Carter though. Better pure WR and better at his peak, IMO. Edit to add: And please don't be one of those guys that talks about Brown's punt returns when you basically eviscerated me in a Tasker thread arguing that Special Teams are basically useless.

Ridiculous. If Harrison or Bruce go in before Carter and Reed, they might as well shut the HOF down. The current electors are making themselves look like fools.
Who would pay a dime to get into Canton to see the exhibits of mediocrity cloaked as greatness The pro HOF is a joke. If you had a pulse, you get in.
Hornung, Swann, Millner, Woijiecowicz (spelling could be off there, but heck with it, I am not getting off the couch to look it up), Slater and Darrell Green are a few Hall members who I do not believe were consistently excellent but every Hall of Fame has guys like that. Nobody in the PFHOF was mediocre. What you wrote is just silly.
You're right. The Hall has a few mediocre players and a lot of very good players who were not great and/or distinguished. Off the top of my head...

Mediocre

Joe Namath.

Bob Griese.

John Riggins.

Larry Csonka.

Very Good

Lynn Swann

Art Monk.

Franco Harris.

Curtis Martin.

To name a few.
How is a player who isn't in the top 50 in any WR category classed as Very Good

 Maybe I was in a generous mood in the moment. Swann actually was a very good receiver. System obviously wasn't favorable to him, nor did he play for long enough. Needless to say, he is not a true HOFer. That said, he was a dynamic, smooth, very good player in his time. Like a lot of these folks, people get too quick to make the leap from "very good" to "Hall of Fame" worthy.
