Clausen and Moore (1 Viewer)

For those of us in QB-focused leagues:

What is the likelihood that the team gives the reins back to Moore at some point this season? Maybe some Panthers homers can chime in: How committed is the team to starting Clausen the rest of the way?

Fox basically said he doesn't know who's going to start week 4, although he was leaning Clausen. That should tell you how much faith the team has right now in it's QB's. If things don't get straightened out soon between Moore and Clausen, you may see Tony Pike get some reps.

They drafted three quarterbacks. One was turned into a WR, but they've also instilled a "mountaineer offense" for him. Seems to me that being committed to any QB right now wouldn't be wise.

Some here praise Moore, but I don't see it and I sure don't see how a team drafting three translates to them being pleased with the starter.

They didn't draft Bradford. They drafted QBs that will take some time to develop.

Claussen was supposed to be NFL ready after playing for Weis but he looks like a typical rookie QB. In fact, he looks like Pike would probably and that's the reason why Pike isn't playing.

Pike was a pretty highly ranked talent that curiously fell in the draft. Physically, he has the arm, the size etc. He was a QB that needed time to develop.

Armanti should be used for excitement only on occasion as he's probably 5-10 180 pounds wet, but he's got big play potential that few QBs have and excellent composure. The mountaineer offense wasn't a success in preseason and he's muffed punts and kick returns.

Starting an "aww man he's going to make mistakes and we're going to lose while he develops" type rookie QB is a tough decision for any coach. For Fox, I think it'll cost him his job if they lose often in 2010. Is Claussen ready? A talented rookie can put fans in the seats and create excitement that owners love and Fox probably keeps his job. A bumbling one... not so much.

I have friends that tell me football is third to hoops and Nascar in Carolina. The way I understand it, the Panthers need to win and win with regularity to have a chance of changing that. Fox is in a very tough spot in so many ways.

He said Monday it was more than likely Clausen, and last night Clausen was interviewed on tv about leading the Panthers against the Saints this weekend.

(KFFL) Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said it is too early to tell if QB Jimmy Clausen or QB Matt Moore will start in Week 4, reports The Associated Press.

Clausen will get a couple more starts. And if he performs as badly as he performed last week, Moore will get another shot for sure.

Why would you go back to Moore before you give Pike a shot?
Pike isn't ready yet. At best, he may see some snaps at the end of the year just to give him some game time experience, but he's trying to learn how to take snaps under center. I think as well that Clausen gets a couple of starts and if he doesn't get better, then Moore will go back in.

The Panthers will be going back to Matt Moore as their starting quarterback in Week 7 versus San Francisco, according to their official team twitter page.

Great news for Clausen in dynasty imo. Give him time to develop and learn the NFL game. His confidence has to be shaken and with the way that team is playing there is no point in continuing to shatter his confidence. Clausen has looked very bad thus far and the play calling has been extremely predictable and bad as well which has not helped him out any for the record.

Fox doesn't care. He's a lame duck. You really won't know anything about this team until next year's new coaching staff is in place. Right now it's a crapshoot.

This situation is even more ridiculous than I had figured. :goodposting:

Way to run an organization into the ground. These are some cheapass bastards.

It first happened earlier this season when I asked Fox about the decision to trade Chris Harris and he stepped across the company line for the first time and admitted it was about “the budget” rather than going with young draft picks LOSERS.

Intentionally or not, Fox is pushing those “decisions” off directly on management, specifically owner Jerry Richardson, who simply isn’t writing big checks anymore. Cheap ### bastards. Season ticket holders should demand their $ back.
