We're about to go live this weekend with a new version of Footballguys' Rate My Team.

Here's the highlights of what we changed:

- @taylorfbg designed a brand new interface for this with separate league and team reports
- new grading system split down by position, starters and depth
- shareable graphics to post wherever you post stuff!
- league import - now works with ESPN and CBS, which it hasn't before
- the top of each report lets you change the tone of the text - we can either just straight up rate your team, roast it or praise it. The roast is (by far) my personal favorite!
- we are now using some very focused, highly guided AI prompts instead of the mad lib-style coding we have used in the past, to generate the report text. These work on Footballguys data and our voice, and customize exactly to your league. In the past the text got repetitive, fast: this we think is a nice use-case for AI, although of course if we could write everyone's reports individually we would!

Just tried it... our dynasty draft is complete, and the grading seems a bit, um, harsh?

The highest grade for any team in the league for 2025 is a C- (and that's for one team... every other team then ranges from D+ down through F). According to Footballguys' overall redraft rankings, teams in our league have the top 119 players (overall) rostered, and we don't start having big gaps until Tier 50.

Generated a "Roast My Team" report... got this response:
"The current season grades show which teams are actually trying to win in 2024, while the long-term dynasty value grades reveal who’s prepping for a future that may never come."

"With no superflex and a weird obsession with return yards, this league is a playground for chaos." (Our league doesn't score return yards. Return TDs, yes. Return yards, no).

I tried several times to " rate my team". I keep getting the same answer. This is for shark pool #2 FBG league.

This league does not have rostered players yet, so we can't rate the teams.

Running Back Woes: Depth Issues Could Stall Momentum
Running backs are the team's Achilles’ heel right now, with a starter grade barely scraping a C and bench depth rated an F.

Saquon, Josh jacobs, jordan mason, sean tucker, kareem hunt, trev etienne.

Now, I know it's not the greatest RB room ever assembled, but I'm either a legitimate moron or this thing is broken?
We only have to start 1 rb btw

I've had fun with the tool, particularly the Roast My Team feature but it is still deeply flawed and probably should only be used for entertainment purposes.

It still thinks JJ & Caleb are rookies. It doesn't seem to understand starting lineup and roster requirements. And it very inconsistently over/under values bench players. Also, it loves to dig at Jets teems from the 20teens even if it doesn't make sense.

Still, it comes up with some great roast material. I love it's roast of my TE position:

Kyle Pitts is your starter, which means you’re either a true believer or you just love pain. Your backup is Michael Mayer, who’s about as inspiring as a preseason snap count. This is the kind of tight end room that makes you wish you could start a kicker at TE. If you want to avoid weekly TE goose eggs, you’ll need to stream like your season depends on it—because it does. The only thing worse than your TE situation is the fact that you actually drafted it this way on purpose.

one note for the developer, one of my big leagues is only 1 RB and that's currently not an option

other than that, the app is great...really like dashboard it puts out...and like that there are separate grades for starter and depth.

I think this was super cool. I found it very useful.

I know I am just being nit picky, but it noted my lack of kicker depth. I found that to be a bit odd. I am not sure I have ever considered depth at that position, but maybe that is what has been holding me back.
