Big Idea And A Brand New Tool At Footballguys - The Assistant Coach (3 Viewers)

We've long had the Assistant Coach forum here. This is not that.

This is a brand new tool I'd like to introduce. This is the first I've talked about it publicly and I can't imagine a better group to present this to than our folks in the forums.

I'm proud to introduce the Footballguys Assistant Coach

It's something we've been working on for a while and I'm proud of it.

In my opinion, it's the right way to use AI.

And that way is less about creating content out of thin air. It's about connecting the reader to smart content we've already created.

The Footballguys Assistant Coach is more navigation aid than anything. We have a ton of content. You have pretty specific questions. The Assistant Coach helps connect our content to the questions you have.

It's important to note - this is our first cut at it. It's very much beta right now but we wanted to get it in your hands first.

It's also important, this tool can't do everything.

We knew we wanted to walk before running. So we've very intentionally debuted with a tight focus. Will it one day give you @Sigmund Bloom's favorite Phish songs? But today, it's focused on helping with Draft Strategy, or choosing between two players, or rankings customized to your league. As we go, we'll expand.

Please kick the tires and let me know what you think.

I'd love to get your feedback and we've created a form for you here so you can easily share thoughts and what you're seeing. It's by far the best way to get your ideas on our radar and way better than a message board thread. Please use this simple form to give us feedback.

And from the page, here's a bit more of my thinking.

Why The Assistant Coach?

For over 25 years, Footballguys has been more than just a source of fantasy analysis. We've been, and continue to be, a community of passionate players helping each other win, grow, and enjoy the amazing game of fantasy football.

We've always believed the best fantasy experience comes from the right mix of trusted experts and smart tools that reveal the angles and edges. We built our reputation introducing foundational strategies, like Value-Based Drafting. And award-winning projections. Then tools like the Draft Dominator that sync to your league and deliver tailored advice for your league.

Now, we're introducing The Assistant Coach: a new way to access the same Footballguys insights you've trusted for years. It's still powered by the same team of passionate, football-obsessed experts. But, it's delivered more conveniently in a chat-style format to provide you with better, faster, and more direct insights tailored to your league.

The heart of Footballguys, and fantasy football, will always be the people. The community. The connection. The group chat, the smack talk, and the draft together every year. That's never changing.

We're using technology to amplify what's always made Footballguys great: fast, personalized, expert-driven advice, delivered in the most helpful way possible.

We often receive feedback that there's so much content on Footballguys that some things can be difficult to find. The Assistant Coach will help you more quickly find the most relevant information you need.

We're building this because we believe you deserve a smarter way to play. One that combines 25 years of expert insight with today's most helpful technology.

This is really cool. I immediately looked at draft strategy for my big auction home league and noticed a couple of things.

- It doesn't know the the league is auction and I completely understand why. We do our auction live and the teams are put into the CBS site by our commish after the draft. There's no way the AI would know this. So I decided to tell it that it was an auction league and it updated the info. Cool!

- It is interpreting our rules a little incorrectly. Our league uses 1 point per 5 rushing yards for all positions except QB where it is 1 point per 10 yards. The AI is telling me it's 1 point per 10 yards for all positions. One thing to not here is that our commish just recently made this scoring change on the site so this might be down to how often the AI pulls updated rules.

I then asked it to give me player auction pricing for a league salary cap of $100 that we use for the live draft. This is where it hiccupped a bit. It's telling me Jamar Chase is worth $102, Gibbs $91 etc. Not realistic pricing at all. These seem high even for the standard $200 cap leagues.

Thank you!

Also, the VBD baselines seem a little off or I'm not understanding how they are established. It's telling me that for this league, the baseline for QB is 339 projected points, but that puts it at QB 7 which seems really high. And WR is at 254 points which is WR18 which also seems really high for a standard 2 RB/2 WR/1 Flex setup.

I submitted the issue.

I like this application and process ... clear picture on response, easy to understand and laid out nice! Well done!

I asked a simple Dynasty Draft pick option in Standard League format for value between RJ Harvey and Kaleb Johnson

List of both values, strengths, rankings ...
Conclusion was clear and distinctive comments based on "league scoring & format" ... but I like it!

Thank you, GB. That will help us figure things out.

tip of the cap for an excellent use of AI. well done.

Thank you. This has been a big thing and something we've sweated a ton to get right.

Major props to @Simon Shepherd for the work on this. It was super important to us that the focus be on it being a "bridge" to our current content. @Sigmund Bloom made me promise there ;) But seriously, that's an important thing to us. We make our living creating content. We want to honor the people creating it AND use a tool like AI to help customer find that great content and get the most value from it.

I'm very happy with how we're going here. And especially with how it's being received. You never really know until you turn it loose.

Major props Joe. Not for the AI tool, but for the beefed up player pages that make this tool work. You guys really knocked them out of the park this year.

Thank you GB. it's nice to work on something and see it had the result we were hoping for. That means a lot.

And you know this, but the props all go to our team. I'm just the face for this gang. It's the smart people I've gathered around me that deserve all the credit as they're doing the work!
