Clay matthews moves to ROLB (1 Viewer)

Shutout

Footballguy
The Packers have moved Clay Matthews from left outside linebacker to the right side.

Matthews' responsibilities won't change; his primary job remains getting to the quarterback. Installed at left outside linebacker, first-rounder Nick Perry "will be given every opportunity to play early," said coach Mike McCarthy...Rotoworld

impact on his production?

What's this mean? I hope you realize the mistake here. couldn't help but comment...Anyways as for your question I would highly doubt this makes a huge impact. But this may be a good question, because teams usually have their better tackles on the blind side, right?

ROLB in the 3-4 is typically more productive, though not always.

Matthews did outstanding from the left side and that is result of his ability...

And the play calling which kept him as the primary 4th pass rusher instead of the other side.

I see no real reason for concern or to lack optimism on his productivity. They will keep the blitzes coming from Clay.

He may be more naturally suited to the left side, but if that's the case, I'm sure they would fix it over time.

ROLB is the position he played during his rookie year. Local reports are that they will also be moving him around a lot more this year.

moving a player around and causing confusion still works better if someone else can bring pressure. a lot still hinges on Perry. you can move a player around all you want but if they aren't scared of anyone else the OL can still make easy line calls to shift/slide/double over.........unless your a manimal like J.Allen or something then it don't matter

Perry is bigger so they think he may be better over the TE. It's just the start of OTA's so nothing's set in stone but they may want Clay on the weak side.
