I'm really glad the Bears didn't wait and take Kizer in the draft. I'm much happier with Trubisky so far.
I agree...
He has his faults, as all young QBs do, and defenses have taken advantage of his weaknesses and make life hard for Trubisky, damn harder than the vast majority of QBs thrown to the wolves given the complete and utter lack of skill and talent he has to work with in the WR and TE department (although Shaheen may have a future in this league, and as Trubisky develops it wouldn't shock me to see the 2nd Round TE from a school you've never heard of, become the security blanket for the first half of Mitch's career)...Just look at the All22 and you'll see how inept hits WRs really are...
With all of this being said, I think its a very safe bet that a qb who lacks something special would fall on his face if thrown into the Bears "scenario".... But Trubisky does have that "it" that all coaches pray their QB has. I saw it at Carolina, I saw it in the preseason, and I'm seeing flashes of it on Sundays now. I could be wrong about him, we never truly know what the future holds, but I'm going all in with Trubisky. I think ten years from now we will look back and see at least three pro bowl calibre QBs from the 17 draft class, again...Time will tell
One can rip on the Bears past decision making until they are blue in the face. I've done it, and the higher ups deserve it, but.....For the first time in maybe thirty years (outside of a few early weeks in 2006 when Sexy Rexy Grossman rode his deepball to the peak of his career) I'm of the belief that the future is very bright. And that's because with a franchise QB, its damn hard to #### things up.
Will everything work out for Trubisky and the Bears? Time will tell, but I'm damn excited to find out.
