Cleveland Browns defense playoff schedule (1 Viewer)

Injuries this past week have decimated my DST units of both the Jets and the Bengals and so I'm reviewing my options. While doing so I check the current scoring and lo and behold, the Cleveland Browns are sitting in the free agent pool and they are currently the #2 fantasy defense in total points in my league which awards 1 point per 25 return yards? WHAT? That can't be right. How is this possible???

Not being any kind of Brownies fan I had to go and look up scheduling information to see who they have played and who is still left on tap.

Quick check of the Cleveland schedule and they have actually played some fairly decent teams thus far, and have what I would think of as a few soft matchups left on tap. Let's recap:

Week 1 - MIN 34 @ CLE 20

Week 2 - CLE 6 @ DEN 27

Week 3 - CLE 3 @ BAL 34

Week 4 - CIN 23 @ CLE 20

Week 5 - CLE 6 @ BUF 3

Week 6 - CLE 14 @ PIT 27

Week 7 - GB @ CLE (Bad matchup)

Week 8 - CHI @ CLE (Neutral matchup)

Week 9 - Bye

Week 10 - BAL @ CLE (Bad matchup)

Week 11 - CLE @ DET (Good matchup)

Week 12 - CLE @ CIN (Bad matchup)

Week 13 - SD @ CLE (Neutral matchup)

FANTASY PLAYOFF SCHEDULE

Week 14 - PIT @ CLE (Bad matchup)

Week 15 - CLE @ KC (Good matchup)

Week 16 - OAK @ CLE (Great matchup)

Am I crazy to think that the Brownies may just be a decent DST to own come fantasy playoff time. That game against Pittsburgh in week 14 feels a little brutal but it is in Cleveland at least and weeks 15 and 16 are both looking really juicy.

Browns D surrenders tons of yards and points, but they are getting some sacks, and, in your system, Cribbs return yards are a big positive. I would probably feel fairly comfortable using them against KC and Oakland.

BTW, don't dismiss this week against GB so quickly. Again, the secondary will likely get shredded, but the D should register some sacks, particularly if D'Qwell Jackson and Kamerion Wimbley are both playing.

Starting bad defenses against bad offenses doesn't always pan out. It's good to know, but I'd consider this a backup plan...or a backup to the backup plan.
