Cleveland Browns (1 Viewer)

Pittsburgh is 10-5.

Cleveland is 9-5.

Tennessee is 8-6.

If Cleveland wins, they still have a shot at the division (Pitt loses to Baltimore, Cleveland wins vs. SF in Week 17).

Tennessee must win to stay alive this week.

If Cleveland and Tennessee both lose, Cleveland is the #6 seed and locked in.

Would they rest Derek Anderson and throw Quinn out there, either to see what he can do or to market him for 2008 to someone?

I say yes to Quinn seeing some playing time if Cle/Ten both lose this week, but not starting.

There has been speculation of this around town. Nothing set in stone obviously as Romeo would never say such a thing before playoffs are clinched/division is in/out of reach.

Quinn would be very doubtful for the SF game if the Browns win this week, unless Romeo is scoreboard watching next Sunday after halftime and Pitt is blowing Balt out.

I can't see the Browns losing this week but if they do I think Anderson, Lewis, Edwards and Winslow owners need to have a Plan B ready. I don't think any of them play much more than a half at best in Week 17 and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them like Lewis and Winslow sat out completely. Lewis needs to be kept as fresh as possible given his age and Winslow has battled injuries all year and played through them. A week of rest for both of them might not be a bad thing.

I think it is highly unlikely the Quinn starts at all (barring injury). I suppose it may be possible for Quinn to see some limited action in the 4th quarter of week 17, but the Browns are trying to get better and better as they strive for the playoffs. They are going to want to keep their regular starter in tune with the rest of the team even if they clinch a spot.

The odds of seeing Quinn even in the 4th quarter of week 17 aren't very good. Too many different things would need to happen.

I suspect many Anderson owners got knocked out last week, which is what happened in both my leagues.

My feeling is that they need to keep the train rolling with Anderson. Besides, does a QB really need rest? He could get benched if they've clinched, but only after they are blowing out their final opponent. Cleveland has nothing to lose by putting the pedal to the metal going into the playoffs - they could catch someone off guard.

I don't think Quinn sees action unless the Browns are on the winning side of a big week 17 blowout of a meaningless game (meaning they already clinched their best playoff position). I think playing Quinn in any other circumstance would be a distraction to the team as many will focus on Anderson vs. Quinn instead of the team preparing for their playoff matchup.
