The Browns have signed free agent wide receiver Bobby Engram, the team announced Thursday evening.

The Cleveland Browns today signed free agent wide receiver Bobby Engram, the team announced.

Originally selected by Chicago in the second round (52nd overall) of the 1996 draft, Engram has started 113 of the 176 games in which he has appeared during his 14-year NFL career. He has registered 650 career receptions for 7,751 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns. Engram has seen action with Chicago (1996-2000), Seattle (2001-08) and Kansas City (2009), with his most productive season coming in 2007, when he recorded 94 receptions for 1,147 yards and six scores.

A four-year letterman at Penn State University (1991, 1993-95), Engram started 33 of 45 games, recording 167 receptions for a school-record 3,026 yards and 31 touchdowns during his collegiate career. Born on January 7, 1973, the 5-10, 192-pound Engram is a native of Camden S.C., where he attended Camden High School.

i think he's there strictly to educate the young WR's. if he sees any time on the field then it's due to injuries.

Bobby Engram of the WR class of 1996. Last man standing?

Harrison....gone.

Muhammed....gone.

Moulds....gone.

Kennison....gone.

Keyshawn Johnsons....gone.

Amani Toomer....long gone.

Joe Horn....gone.

Terry Glenn....gone.

Owens...???

Bobby Engram outlasts them all? GTFO.

Usually when veteran WRs hit the wall, they are done. Engram went from 1150 yards in 2007 to 500 yards in 2008 to 61 total yards in 2009. He's done.

If he even makes the team I will be shocked.

I'm not saying he didn't hit a wall, but he only had those big numbers because everyone else got hurt and then his numbers slid because the whole team got hurt and sucked even when healthy. He doesn't have much to offer on the field but he was brilliant in Holmgren's system without any exceptional physical skills. He's there for his brain, not his body. If he doesn't make the team i expect him to be coaching there or somehow working for the Walrus. All of Bobby's beefs with the FO were with Ruskell, not Holmie.
