Below are the clinching scenarios for both conferences. I mite be an Eagles homer but it seems to me that the Cowboys have the least likeliest of all scenarios.

NFC

* Green Bay Packers — clinch homefield advantage throughout the NFC playoffs with win or San Francisco loss

* San Francisco 49ers — clinch first round bye with win and New Orleans loss

* New Orleans Saints — clinch NFC South with win

* Atlanta Falcons — clinch a playoff berth and remain in NFC South race with win; With loss, can clinch Wild Card if both the Bears and Cardinals lose and either the Giants or Cowboys lose

* Detroit Lions — clinch a Wild Card with win; With loss, can clinch Wild Card if Bears, Seahawks, Cardinals all lose and either the Cowboys, Giants or Saints lose

* Dallas Cowboys — clinch the NFC East with win and Giants loss

AFC

* New England Patriots — clinch first round bye with win and Texans loss or a win and losses by both Ravens and Steelers

* Denver Broncos — clinch the AFC West with win and Oakland loss; clinch a playoff berth with win and a loss by the Jets, Titans and Bengals

* Baltimore Ravens — clinch the AFC North with win and Steelers loss; clinch a first round bye with win, Steelers loss and Texans loss

Latest and greatest:

Oakland -- clinches division with win AND a Denver loss; clinches wild card with win, plus a Cincinnati loss, plus one of the following: Tennessee loss OR New York Jets win.

Cincinnati -- clinches wild card with win, OR with Tennessee win/Oakland loss/NY Jets loss

Tennessee -- clinches wild card with win plus Cincinnati loss, plus either of the following: 1) Oakland loss/NY Jets win; 2) Oakland win/NY Jets loss/Denver win

New York Jets -- clinches wild card with win AND losses by Cincinnati, Tennessee AND Oakland

NFC:

San Francisco -- clinched division; can clinch first-round bye with win* OR New Orleans loss; can clinch #1 seed with win AND Green Bay loss.

New Orleans -- clinched playoff spot; can clinch division with win OR Atlanta loss; can clinch first-round bye with 2 wins AND San Francisco loss.

Detroit -- clinched wild card

Atlanta -- can clinch wild card with win OR a Chicago loss; clinches division with 2 wins AND 2 losses by New Orleans.

Dallas -- clinches division with win

New York Giants -- clinches division with win

Chicago -- can clinch wild card with 2 wins AND 2 losses by Atlanta

* ESPN says New Orleans needs to lose at least once for San Francisco to get a first-round bye, but the Yahoo playoff scenario generator says otherwise.

ESPN is wrong in that the Tennessee game is meaningless to the Bengals' playoff chances.

Cincy clinches with:

1) win or tie

or

2) jets loss/tie and broncos loss/tie

or

3) jets loss/tie and raiders loss/tie
