Collusion posts (1 Viewer)

If you're going to make a post about a trade in your league being collusion, please make sure it actually IS collusion first. if you have to ask if something is collusion, chances are good, its not. If it's collusion, you know it right from the start. period. if you're not sure, then you just look like a whiner.

I am working on colluding (is that right???) on a trade right now. When it is complete I will ask my comish (which is me) to come in here and ask about it right away!

it's colllluuuuuuuuuuusion

Beat me to it Baronson ...

Is this collusion?

A trade is completed ...

1. By two family members.

2. By one of my rivals.

3. Involving a player that I wanted.

4. Giving a good team a good player.

5. Giving a bad team a draft pick.

6. That I would have never done if I was the guy.

7. That is against an imaginary rule that has never been discussed.

8. On a Tuesday.

9. By a guy that I'm playing against this week.

10. To cover a bye week for each team.

No.

A trade is completed in which the two owners are acting to improve team 1 dramatically at the expense of team 2 and no reasonable value can be found in the deal for team 2, except possibly outside value (like a share of the winnings, etc.).

Yes.

There is gray area. But not all uneven trades are collusion. Some are just bad deals, or are just deals you wouldn't do. Collusion is sneaky, shady, rule-circumventing, and obvious if you are paying attention. I'd say if you have to ask around for other opinions on the matter, then it's probably close enough to OK and isn't collusion. If you think they are cheating, ask them for an explanation in front of the league. Be open about it all and look for the value for each side and why they may possibly want to do it. When you do find those owners that are determined to cheat, get rid of them.

How about if you have one of those nice simlutanious Os with the Mrs? Both seem to win and come out happy in the end - is this collusion?

The only one I've ever seen in a league of mine was a guy trading with his fiance. She was trading him a team's far and away #1 WR for the team's #2 WR that wasn't even at half the points of the #1 guy. It made zero sense as to why that'd benefit her team, and knowing their relationship, the rest of the league called them on it and he had to admit it.

Did the trade come after sex?

exactly.

an example of collusion:

Team 1 gets Steven Jackson and Andre Johnson

Team 2 gets Charlie Frye, Blair Thomas, a free pass to Six Flags, and 7 minutes in a dark closet with team 1's wife.

in fact, i'm going to go out on a limb and say that no one should post a collusion post unless its funny. because otherwise, all anyone will say is "i don't care about your league, you big dummy" and then Joe and Co (that rhymes) will lock this piece and wrist-slap people for "not being excellent" and then someone will to the pointing shirt thing that i still don't understand and then unicorns will parade down Madison Avenue with leprechauns riding on them playing bagpipes to the tune of the Ohio State fight song...

where was i?

All I know my fantasy life got a lot easier when I started taking no more than 30 seconds to look at trades made by others and thinking one of the following

1- that looks like a fair trade

2- wow, I would not have done that trade if were team ___

3- I don't get either side of that one.

I think Team 2 wins that deal. The shirt thing is explained in another forum under common things (or something of that nature). Sorry for the vagueries, forgot where I saw it, but it is like an FAQ or something. Basically, stop making excuses.

i'm perfectly capable of looking it up. point is, i don't care enough to do so.kind of the way you didn't care enough to look up if "vagueries" was actually a word. which its not.but i think it depends on the wife as to who gets the better end of that deal. i have some friends who would give up Steven Jackson AND 7 minutes with their wife for Blair Thomas... :)

I did see one in a baseball league I was in. The last place team traded Roger Clemens to the first place late in the season team for two young, close-to-worthless players. When questioned, he said he wanted to rebuild.

It wasn't a keeper league. Oh, and the two guys were brothers.

The thing is, when it's collusion, it's obvious enough that you don't need to ask.

Well played. Football and linguistic advice all from one source. What a site!

The thing is - You would already have to know it was collusion before posting it here - just not know the definition of collusion. In order for someone on this board to say it is collusion you would have to tell us "Owner A called up Owner B and said lets trade player 1 and player 2 because I'm out of it and want you to win the league." Without that information we can only guess because no one here is going to know what went on in these owner's heads.

In sum: it's pointless to ask these collusion questions

most of the time it is an owner that is just pissed off another owner bettered his team
:goodposting: Everyone in FF has been a bit disappointed to see a team make out in a trade, the difference is that most people understand that is part of FF, give the other team their due props, and move on.

I think that all depends on Team 1's wife. If Team 1's wife is Jessica Alba, I wouldn't care if I got kicked out of the league for the trade. Keep my players, keep my money, keep the trophy... I'll take my seven minutes every time.If Team 1's wife is Roseanne Barr, then yes, this is collusion. Of the worst kind. Ever.
