Colts/Pats (1 Viewer)

I am not a homer of either team. However, I am a football fan who follows the game. I have my own personal opinions of each team and some of their players but I will leave those opinions out of my prediction. Based on what I have seen this year, the outcome seems pretty clear to me on this match up.

As strange it may sound, New England will light up the colts through the air, It will not be Peyton lighting up the Pats through the air. The Colts will try and control the clock with the ground game giving Addai the majority of carries and Keith will have 8-10 carries as well.

My prediction, Pat's 38, Colts 27.

So, bet the over/under accordingly.

Your thoughts?

I predict a similar score. Ive got the Patriots 38-24. I think NE will get out to a fast start early, and press Indy into scoring TDs rather than kicking FGs. Indy will try and stay patient with their running game, and NE will just continue to score and do their best to make Indy one dimensional. I expect NE will go for it on 4th down anytime they get inside the Indy 40, and keep their foot on the pedal the entire game. I can see them lining up in shotgun early with 3 or 4 wides and picking that D apart. This is nothing like any offense the Colts have ever seen before. That is the only area in which the other team is unfamiliar. NE knows Indy's O and D better than any other in the league. Indy knows NE's D better than any other in the league. But they have no idea what theyre about to face with the new Patriots O because its completely off the charts. Marvin being either out or injured and Indy's LT problems, coupled with the fact that NE is fully healthy are too much for the Colts to overcome.

I hope Harrison plays, It won't make a difference. I don't want any excuses for the Pat's WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pats by 20+

hopefully they'll meet again in the playoffs and everyone will be healthy.

27-24 Colts.

Home dome noise will be a factor when Pats are on O, messing with their timing at the snap. Running game suffers, Brady gets picked twice.

I agree that both teams and coaches know each other very well. Both will try a few new "wrinkles" but figuring that they may see each other again in the playoffs niether coach will give the other "everything" they have. Both defenses will play well but niether will be able to stop the other's offense,Harrison or not The Colts have shown they can still move the ball and score with or without him. All the X's and O's can be debated, these teams have seen each other enough to know what they have to do on the field. No question The Pats are playing offensive football unlike anything we've seen before, but The Colts are still an excellent team, they're the Champs until proven otherwise and they're at home. I think the game will live up to it's hype and be close in the fourth quarter when another old reliable will come in and make the difference. Adam Vinatieri will kick a game winner sometime around 7:00PM on Sunday night. I'm not a fan of either team, just an NFL fan looking for a GREAT game.

I don't have a prediction, but was thinking about this the other day...how great would a TIE be? Maybe something like 27-27 where both QBs/offenses played well, but both defenses also stepped it up late and in OT. If you are a football fan, it should would make the rest of the season really interesting. That is, both Ind and NE could go undefeated (15-0-1) and homefield advantage might be decided by something crazy like.... *cough* ....strength of victory! And assuming both teams meet in the AFC Championship game, this game would not be determining the AFC Superbowl entrant, but in all likelihood the GREATEST TEAM OF ALL TIME!

Anyway, as a Pats fan I'll be rooting for NE to crush Indy, but as a football fan a small part of me will be rooting for a tie!!!

I am a Dallas fan; so I am somewhat biased with my comments. Dallas was beating NE in the 3rd quarter after being down 14-0. NE is awesome, but they are not unbeatable. Penalties caused Dallas to lose their momentum and in turn NE capitalized....that is what great teams do.

I think the biggest thing that sticks out in my mind is how improved Indy is on defense. Dallas' secondary is suspect; I think Indy's pass defense is better....last time I checked; they are number 1 in the NFL against the pass.

I do not think it will be a blowout and it would not surprise me if Indy wins. It will be a great game regardless!!!

I understand all the hype, especially with NE scoring so much, but we're only 7 games into the season. I think these teams will lose 3-4 games combined this season. There are ups and downs, things don't remain constant.

Why do Dallas fans keep bringing this up? No one cares that the Cowboys led the Patriots for a few minutes, and it doesn't mean a thing. The Patriots ultimately won by 21 points, so the fact that the Cowboys had a very brief lead strikes me as Dallas fans trying to convince themselves that the Cowboys are better than they really are. You got drilled at home. End of story. As far as the Pats/Colts game, I will say 41-31 Patriots.

IMHO, Indy is the 2nd best team in the league, but I also think NE is better on both sides and they have a lot of momentum & motivation going into this game. Not saying that Indy can't beat NE, they obviously can, I just think in this particular game it isn't going to happen. Later in the year it could be a different story.

IMO, Indy's pass def is a bit overrated and that is going to show even though they will play it safe and try to force NE to work the ball down the field. NE will pick their spots, but it should be a big day for Maroney and Welker. On the otehr side I think NE def is a little underrated and will really try and focus on Adai & Clark which should open things up for Wayne & maybe Gonzales to make some big plays. IMO, IF NE can contain Adai & Clark (obviously much easier said than done!) this game could get ugly early. I understand the last game was ugly early, but it is a far different scenario now and there will be no big comeback if Indy falls way behind.

Should be a great game for a while, but at some point NE pulls away, just not sure if it is the 2nd or the 3rd quarter.

NE 44 Indy 27.

I predict both teams will forget to show up, since they'll assume that this has been media week for the Superbowl and the game's not getting played til next week. Could ESPN & NFL Network have covered this game any more? I know it's a huge game, but I don't think you could turn on NFLN at any point without hearing Rod Woodson blathering on about how the Pats have the 2nd ranked defense in games played in domes when Gisele is in Tom Brady's skybox and the moon is in the seventh house...(Does he do anything but quote statistical rankings?)

Seriously, as a Chargers fan, I hope the Colts win because A) I can't stand the Pats and B) it might cause the Colts to come into SD the next week content and overconfident. But my head tells me it's the Pats all day long, 42-17. I think Indy's able to move the ball but not put up that many points early, and will get forced into mistakes once they fall behind by a couple of scores. I really hope I'm way wrong here, but I see the Pats O Line giving Brady all day and he just destroys the Colts secondary.

I dont think he is the player he once was but the Patriots do special things when Rodney Harrison is on the field. You cant necessarily compare one year to the next but it is hard for me to believe that having;MossWelkerThomas StallworthHarrisonRandall GayAll as guys who didnt play last year playing in this game, that the Pats cant turn a narrow defeat into a convincing win. looks like all the contrarians who picked cleveland, san diego, and washington have finally learned their lessons.

The bolded part is not too bold of a statement considering that currently the Indy defense is #1 overall pass defense. So they have nowhere to go but down. That said, I agree completely with your prediction.

NE 44 Indy 27

38 - 24 NE.

Defensive and Offensive rankings are notoriously unreliable as they are extremely dependent upon the game circumstances which generated the rankings. There are advanced metrics that are available that attempt to minimize the differences that game situations and schedule strength can cause. I'm thinking specifically of DVOA or Defense-adjusted Value Over Average which was pioneered by Aaron Schatz and Football Outsiders.

As of week 8 Indy is ranked 6th in total defense and 3rd against the pass. In contrast NE is rated 3rd in total defense and 2nd against the pass. Washington is currently 5th in total defense and 4th against the pass. Look what NE's offense did to the Skins. I think currently NE has the advantage on both sides of the ball. These edges will be mitigated to some extent by the home field advantage of the Colts. I see NE continuing to be very potent on offense with Indy unable to stop them consistently. I see the Colts playing ball control early and then opening up after getting down early. I see them scoring consistently as well but just lacking the ability to keep up with the Pats. Just my $.02.

The Patriots whole organization has had this game circled since last year`s AFC championship game. They know they flamed out then and probabley cost themselves their 4`th S Bowl trophy with the loss. Got a feeling Belichick takes SOME of the air out of the ball with Maroney to keep Manning off the field. Not expecting as many points from this game as most, like the Pats 30-20.

Pats by 20. Every PATs WR gets a TD in this one. It's going to be a long day for Manning, he'll be doing something he's not use too, playing from behind... Don't get me wrong it will be close in the first half, but then after that just ugly if your a Colt's fan.

Bill will for sure be running it up in this one, Brady and the first team will never see the sidelines. The only way the Colts win this, is if Brady gets his leg, or throwing arm broken. Which I just don't see happening.

(I am hoping my little Welker has at least 2 TDs.)

Let's reflect on the last loss the Patriots suffered. In the AFC championship game, in Indianiapolis, against the Colts. The Patriots held a large first half lead. But it wasn't enough. The lead evaporated in the second half, and they lost. I have to think the Patriots style of play this season is influenced by that. They run up the score this year because a big lead in their last loss wasn't big enough. And now we've come full circle, back to the same opponent. Belichick has probably had this date circled on his calendar. Patriots big.

the pats are playing the same way this year that they did last year, but nobody 8itched about all this 'running up the score' nonsense.

do you dudes even watch football, or just read internet gossip columns?

Hope it's a great game and close like 28-27 NE (with Indy having a chance to win it with a 50-yard FG at the gun) to set-up a rematch in NE for the AFC championship!

I belive Richard Seymore also got knocked out early

Indy wins 5-2. Total offense 200 yards combined for both teams. President of CBS Sports attempts suicide. Bellichick complains Dungy attempted to "run up the score".

as I stated in another thread, welker turns this whole game around for us.

you can't think this year = last year.

I wasnt going to include the in game injuries to Seymour and Colvin because I am sure Indy had some injuries as well. Including Mannings' thumb but it sure didnt look like there was anything wrong with his thumb in that 2nd half.

pennington

lose-man

half the cincy d

ronnie brown

carlos rogers

who could be next.....?

NE 17

Ind 16

Late FG by Gostkowski wins it. I'll be happy to admit it if I'm wrong, but I don't see a high scoring game here. Both teams have incentive to create sustained drives and keep the other off the field.

1st tie in the NFL since 2002.

Sportstalk networks simultaneously cream themselves as the final whistle blows.

This game has to go to overtime and end on a field goal...

Not saying who wins it though...don't want to jinx it!

i think asante samuel does his best 'ty law' impression and picks peyton a few times and ices the game. with marvin limited or out-asante should stick reggie wayne and try to nullify him.

Some of us live and die this stuff.
I don't want to get into a side discussion that's going to seem nasty, so I'll do this as gently as possible.Live and die? I understand being a fan. I'm agonizing over my favorite college football team with its best chance ever just blowing it at Colorado. But it seems to me there's a lot more out there than who wins a football game that you have no control over. The term "us" seems to mark a connection to the team that's life/death, and for something that you have zero control over, as great as football is, why would you invest all your emotional energy in it?

Colts win by 3 on a last second field goal by Adam Vinatieri.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I can't wait to watch this game tomorrow. I have organized a big group to go to our local Buffalo Wild Wings for this one. With the Bears on bye, I'm hoping the bar won't be that crowded.

youre getting too deep here, Keys. sorry if the guy slipped up with the "US" term. minor deal in the grand scheme, dont ya think? And I defended the guy by basically pointing out the obvious. some of us are pretty into it. live and die? not so much. but relax already. obviously noone's going to die. I get it.
