Commish 2009 Payouts (1 Viewer)

Idiot Savant

What, me worry?
This is sort of awkward. I really like my league commissioner. I think he really cares about his leagues and does a good job in most things. Where judgment is required he's shown much better skills than I would have, and I'm a commissioner myself.

The problem is he hasn't paid out his leagues yet, 7 weeks after our fantasy season has ended, and he runs a bunch of leagues with more than 200 teams at over $100 a pop. That's a lot of dough. With the economy being what it's been I start to wonder if he's having money issues, has maybe used the money elsewhere, and making his payouts has become a problem.

That's pure speculation (paranoia?) on my part but it raises for me the question of exposure. I'm in several of his leagues and am in the money most of the time, and I wonder if I'm a little too exposed.

I have not raised the payout issue with him. We are Internet friends and I don't want to be mistrusting and damage that relationship, but it's creeping into my mind that there may be problems here. How long is long enough to wait to be paid without raising the issue? And I wonder if I should cut back on my leagues with him to cut back on exposure. Thoughts?

I would think it's reasonable to assume all monies should have been paid by now. If this comish has multple leagues, he should have some sort of accounting setup to allow for timely payouts. I commish two leagues and I usually have the money out within two weeks from the end of our ff season.

The commish should contact everyone who won within 7-10 days of the league ending, giving a specific time which fees should be paypaled or mailed out. Tha mailing should occur by Jan 15 at the latest. Remember, as a commish I want my fees by a certain date, so I can pay for MFL.com and see if you are committed in return, I should not jerk around with your money, and should be willing to answer questions about when and how openly.

I really don't know the correct answer here, but it seems to me that a month or so from the end of the "fantasy season" should be ample time to pay out prizes.

In my league we still have cash prizes on the line until the end of the NFL Super Bowl, which is usually the first weekend in February. We always have an Awards meeting the first Saturday of March, about a month later. It's been this way for 8 years. We have a treasurer and we've never had an issue of funds not being available.

If you're still waiting its too long.

There is really no reason it should take longer than a week after the championship game in your league. Unless the guy spent all the money

Any thing after a week is too much if you still havent been paid you prob wont be....Stick with league safe from now on you put too much time and effort into it to get ripped at the end.....

:lmao: At this point you definitely need to contact him. Mid-February is ridiculous without being contacted.

You don't indicate what is normal for his leagues. When were you paid last year? If you're later than usual, you inquire.
