Completed Guppy Drafts (1 Viewer)

Johnny Rock

Footballguy
I really liked the Drafting With Guppies article. One of my leagues is like this. A few savvy owners but a lot of homers and a few that are woefully unprepared.

Although I have past drafts to use I struggle with mocks because my brain doesn't work like theirs.

Please post your recent "Guppy" drafts in order if possible so I can see how it might go this year. Maybe * your picks. If that's too much work please talk about trends that happened in the first 5 rounds or so, like "3 QB's went in the 1st round, 6 WR's in the first 2 rounds and Portis dropped to the 3rd round." Any info would be helpful. TIA.

Guppy Warning :fishy:

First of all, not all of the owners in this league are guppies. But there are enough to make the draft look very strange when compared to ADP. This is my second year in the league. It has two conferences of 12 teams each with inter-conference double headers in six of the weeks. The two conference winners meet in week 16 for the championship.

Starting Requirements

1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DT and 1 Flex (RB or WR)

Scoring

1 pt per 20 yards passing, 6 pts for all TDs.

1 pt per 10 yards rushing/receiving.

1 pt per reception.

Defenses get points for points allowed as well as 1 pt per 20 yards on interception, fumble and kick returns.

Last year, I started with D Davis, Tiki Barber and LaMont Jordan as my first three picks. I noticed the incredible value remaining at RB later in the draft. Manning and Culpepper went in the first round and other QBs followed regularly. So this year I planned to grab at least one elite receiver as trading was very difficult last year.

I drew pick 11 of 12. I was hoping for a top three pick so that I could get a stud RB and two top ten receivers, or one receiver and Gates at the turn.

Portis fell to me and was tempting, but the top receivers scored 40 points more than him last year. With the injury and the expectation that RBs would fall, I held off. Jordan and Westbrook were also on the board, but I did something that surprised even me:

1.01 1 Cowboys Like it Hot! Alexander, Shaun SEA RB

1.02 2 "DA WINNAHZ" Johnson, Larry KCC RB

1.03 3 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Tomlinson, Ladainian SDC RB

1.04 4 DC Lagers Barber, Tiki NYG RB

1.05 5 EJ's Bulldogs Williams, Carnell TBB RB

1.06 6 JCIE Smith, Steve CAR WR

1.07 7 Bucshot Johnson, Rudi CIN RB

1.08 8 PATZFAN James, Edgerrin ARI RB

1.09 9 Texas Pride Manning, Peyton IND QB

1.10 10 Auslanders Jackson, Steven STL RB

1.11 11 Wave of Mutilation Holt, Torry STL

1.12 12 The Dawgs Brown, Ronnie MIA RB

Manning would have been mine had he fallen two more spots, but I decided to go with Holt. Linehan has improved the Vikings' and Dolphins' offenses in recent years and I don't expect much of a drop off from the Martz years. Holt averaged slightly under 20 ppg last year and would have been up there with Larry Johnson and Tiki Barber if he had performed at that level for 16 games.

2.01 13 The Dawgs Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR

2.02 14 Wave of Mutilation Johnson, Chad CIN WR

2.03 15 Auslanders Jordan, Lamont OAK RB

2.04 16 Texas Pride Dunn, Warrick ATL RB

2.05 17 PATZFAN Jones, Thomas CHI RB

2.06 18 Bucshot Harrison, Marvin IND WR

2.07 19 JCIE Portis, Clinton WAS RB

2.08 20 EJ's Bulldogs Bush, Reggie NOS RB

2.09 21 DC Lagers McGahee, Willis BUF RB

2.10 22 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Davis, Domanick HOU RB

2.11 23 "DA WINNAHZ" Boldin, Anquan ARI WR

2.12 24 Cowboys Like it Hot! Owens, Terrell DAL WR

In the second round I achieved a first. I had never started any draft WR/WR before this one. I liked what I saw of Palmer on Monday night and Johnson is another receiver that should be heavily targeted. He scored 40 points more than Portis and Rudi Johnson last year so I gambled and crossed my fingers that last year's RB trend would repeat.

3.01 25 Cowboys Like it Hot! Gates, Antonio SDC TE

3.02 26 "DA WINNAHZ" Hasselbeck, Matt SEA QB

3.03 27 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Droughns, Reuben CLE RB

3.04 28 DC Lagers Moss, Randy OAK WR

3.05 29 EJ's Bulldogs Chambers, Chris MIA WR

3.06 30 JCIE Moss, Santana WAS WR

3.07 31 Bucshot Driver, Donald GBP WR

3.08 32 PATZFAN Jackson, Darrell SEA WR

3.09 33 Texas Pride Jones, Julius DAL RB

3.10 34 Auslanders Parker, Willie PIT RB

3.11 35 Wave of Mutilation Westbrook, Brian PHI RB

3.12 36 The Dawgs Wayne, Reggie IND WR

After a long wait, I finally had my third round pick. Only two QBs were off the board which was a big change from last year. But exactly as I hoped, Westbrook fell to me at 3.11. If I had chosen my usual RB heavy start, he would have been one of my first two picks in a ppr format. So I was thrilled to get a potential top 10 back at the end of the third.

4.01 37 The Dawgs Shockey, Jeremy NYG TE

4.02 38 Wave of Mutilation Jones, Kevin DET RB

4.03 39 Auslanders Burress, Plaxico NYG WR

4.04 40 Texas Pride Ward, Hines PIT WR

4.05 41 PATZFAN Williams, Roy DET WR

4.06 42 Bucshot McNabb, Donovan PHI QB

4.07 43 JCIE Gonzalez, Tony KCC TE

4.08 44 EJ's Bulldogs Brady, Tom NEP QB

4.09 45 DC Lagers Walker, Javon DEN WR

4.10 46 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Horn, Joe NOS WR

4.11 47 "DA WINNAHZ" Heap, Todd BAL TE

4.12 48 Cowboys Like it Hot! Mason, Derrick BAL WR

I decided to grab Kevin Jones over Heap, Gonzalez or a third receiver. I don't like gambling on unproven players but I felt that the risk was worth it. If I were to have two reasonable RBs, it was now or never. I don't feel that I missed much by taking the two stud receivers in the first two rounds. Jordan/Westbrook vs. K Jones/Westbrook.

5.01 49 Cowboys Like it Hot! Taylor, Chester MIN RB

5.02 50 "DA WINNAHZ" Houshmandzadeh, T.J. CIN WR

5.03 51 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Smith, Rod DEN WR

5.04 52 DC Lagers Palmer, Carson CIN QB

5.05 53 EJ's Bulldogs Witten, Jason DAL TE

5.06 54 JCIE Rhodes, Dominic IND RB

5.07 55 Bucshot Bryant, Antonio SFO WR

5.08 56 PATZFAN Bell, Mike DEN RB

5.09 57 Texas Pride Johnson, Andre HOU WR

5.10 58 Auslanders Delhomme, Jake CAR QB

5.11 59 Wave of Mutilation Evans, Lee BUF WR

5.12 60 The Dawgs Manning, Eli NYG QB

I watched in dismay as the other elite TEs were taken. Gonzalez fell to 6.6 in the other 12 team draft. I looked at Crumpler but figured that his receptions were too low for this format, and with the outstanding TE depth available I chose to go in another direction. I watch all of the Bills' games and as a homer I think Losman and Evans are going to vastly outperform all expectations. Evans is a TD threat every time he touches the ball, and the 2006 version of Losman is not the jittery Yoda fan that I watched last year. In this draft, maybe Evans would have fallen. But I wanted him on my team and think that he has a shot at the top ten this year. The reception numbers might be low though.

6.01 61 The Dawgs Burleson, Nate SEA WR

6.02 62 Wave of Mutilation Lewis, Jamal BAL RB

6.03 63 Auslanders Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB

6.04 64 Texas Pride Glenn, Terry DAL WR

6.05 65 PATZFAN Bulger, Marc STL QB Sat

6.06 66 Bucshot Bears, Chicago CHI Def

6.07 67 JCIE Green, Trent KCC QB

6.08 68 EJ's Bulldogs Galloway, Joey TBB WR

6.09 69 DC Lagers Vick, Michael ATL QB

6.10 70 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Crumpler, Alge ATL TE

6.11 71 "DA WINNAHZ" Foster, De'shaun CAR RB

6.12 72 Cowboys Like it Hot! Gore, Frank SFO RB

I know it's a ppr league, but Jamal Lewis should not fall to the 6th round. I made sure he didn't fall to the 7th and again passed on good TEs.

7.01 73 Cowboys Like it Hot! Johnson, Keyshawn CAR WR

7.02 74 "DA WINNAHZ" Taylor, Fred JAC RB

7.03 75 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Martin, Curtis NYJ RB

7.04 76 DC Lagers McMichael, Randy MIA TE

7.05 77 EJ's Bulldogs Kennison, Eddie KCC WR

7.06 78 JCIE Addai, Joseph IND RB

7.07 79 Bucshot Watson, Ben NEP TE

7.08 80 PATZFAN Davis, Vernon SFO TE

7.09 81 Texas Pride Smith, L.J. PHI TE

7.10 82 Auslanders Cooley, Chris WAS TE

7.11 83 Wave of Mutilation Culpepper, Daunte MIA QB

7.12 84 The Dawgs Warner, Kurt ARI QB

McMichael was my target in the seventh as I think Culpepper will elevate him to a new level. The guy has essentially been playing with backup QBs his entire career. But again I missed out on my TE. After seeing the way Culpepper moved around on Thursday, I moved him a few spots up my board. I think he was excellent value as the 12th QB taken. I expect three or four rushing TDs and I like Chambers/Booker as targets, along with McMichael.

8.01 85 The Dawgs Miller, Heath PIT TE

8.02 86 Wave of Mutilation Plummer, Jake DEN QB

8.03 87 Auslanders Jones, Matt JAC WR

8.04 88 Texas Pride Dillon, Corey NEP RB

8.05 89 PATZFAN Jackson, Chad NEP WR

8.06 90 Bucshot White, LenDale TEN RB

8.07 91 JCIE Muhammad, Muhsin CHI WR

8.08 92 EJ's Bulldogs Stallworth, Donte' PHI WR

8.09 93 DC Lagers Panthers, Carolina CAR Def

8.10 94 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Robinson, Koren FA WR

8.11 95 "DA WINNAHZ" Brown, Reggie PHI WR

8.12 96 Cowboys Like it Hot! Bledsoe, Drew DAL QB

Ok, I like Culpepper. but I am not stupid and I know that his knee makes him a risky pick. I added Plummer immediately because he is very high on my board. He didn't have to do much in the second half of most games last year as Denver won most of their games easily. With the doubts over their running game this year, and the addition of Walker, I think they will pass more. Looking at the opponents they face, I don't expect them to canter to victory in so many games. Plummer will throw more, and the passing game will increase production. I was hoping to start a QB2 run with this pick.

9.01 97 Cowboys Like it Hot! McNair, Steve BAL QB

9.02 98 "DA WINNAHZ" Barber, Marion DAL RB

9.03 99 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Branch, Deion NEP WR

9.05 101 EJ's Bulldogs Clark, Dallas IND TE

9.06 102 JCIE Favre, Brett GBP QB

9.07 103 Bucshot McAllister, Deuce NOS RB

9.08 104 PATZFAN Leftwich, Byron JAC QB

9.09 105 Texas Pride Barlow, Kevan NYJ RB

9.10 106 Auslanders Williams, DeAngelo CAR RB

9.11 107 Wave of Mutilation Steelers, Pittsburgh PIT Def

9.12 108 The Dawgs Green, Ahman GBP RB

With defenses being worth a lot in this league, I had already decided to try and get a good one. But I figured that the Ravens and/or Redskins would fall to the latter part of the draft. But when the Steelers were there at 9.11, I altered my tactics and grabbed them.

10.01 109 The Dawgs Seahawks, Seattle SEA Def

10.02 110 Wave of Mutilation Winslow, Kellen CLE TE

10.03 111 Auslanders Simms, Chris TBB QB

10.04 112 Texas Pride Givens, David TEN WR

10.05 113 PATZFAN Jurevicius, Joe CLE WR

10.06 114 Bucshot Coles, Laveranues NYJ WR

10.07 115 JCIE Bruce, Isaac STL WR

10.08 116 EJ's Bulldogs Cowboys, Dallas DAL Def

10.09 117 DC Lagers Vinatieri, Adam IND PK

10.10 118 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Kitna, Jon DET QB

10.11 119 "DA WINNAHZ" Williamson, Troy MIN WR

10.12 120 Cowboys Like it Hot! Clayton, Michael TBB WR

When Heath Miller went, my late TE target was blown. Some owners were even taking a second TE. That totally threw me. I was relieved to get Winslow as Wiggins was the player immediately below him on my list had I missed out. I was not happy with this, but there is at least the possibility that he will be somewhat productive. I plan to address this position through a trade early in the season when the opportunity presents itself.

11.01 121 Cowboys Like it Hot! Feely, Jay NYG PK

11.02 122 "DA WINNAHZ" Elam, Jason DEN PK

11.03 123 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Brooks, Aaron OAK QB

11.04 124 DC Lagers Clayton, Mark BAL WR

11.05 125 EJ's Bulldogs Brees, Drew NOS QB

11.06 126 JCIE Giants, New York NYG Def

11.07 127 Bucshot Rivers, Philip SDC QB

11.08 128 PATZFAN Rackers, Neil ARI PK

11.09 129 Texas Pride Colts, Indianapolis IND Def

11.10 130 Auslanders Edwards, Braylon CLE WR

11.11 131 Wave of Mutilation Benson, Cedric CHI RB

11.12 132 The Dawgs Toomer, Amani NYG WR

Hmmmm, Benson in the 11th. A chance at the starter or eventual starter on a run-first team. Not quite Larry Johnson, but definitely some potential there. I decided he would be excellent trade bait if the Bears made him the starter.

12.01 133 The Dawgs Bennett, Drew TEN WR

12.02 134 Wave of Mutilation Bell, Tatum DEN RB

12.03 135 Auslanders Brown, Chris TEN RB

12.04 136 Texas Pride Carr, David HOU QB

12.05 137 PATZFAN Lloyd, Brandon WAS WR

12.06 138 Bucshot Jones, Greg JAC RB

12.07 139 JCIE Porter, Jerry OAK WR

12.08 140 EJ's Bulldogs Randle El, Antwaan WAS WR

12.09 141 DC Lagers Duckett, T.J. WAS RB

12.10 142 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Jaguars, Jacksonville JAC Def

12.11 143 "DA WINNAHZ" Brunell, Mark WAS QB

12.12 144 Cowboys Like it Hot! Buccaneers, Tampa Bay TBB Def

How did Tatum Bell fall that far? I picked him up in case there are two or three games where he is the sole back due to injuries elsewhere. He could be top five in those weeks. I'll take that in the 12th round. If he does somehow win the job, then I could really get some value. I do expect him to be a situational player though.

13.01 145 Cowboys Like it Hot! Falcons, Atlanta ATL Def

13.02 146 "DA WINNAHZ" Dolphins, Miami MIA Def

13.03 147 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Stover, Matt BAL PK

13.04 148 DC Lagers Curtis, Kevin STL WR

13.05 149 EJ's Bulldogs Brown, Josh SEA PK

13.06 150 JCIE Ravens, Baltimore BAL Def

13.07 151 Bucshot Wilford, Ernest JAC WR

13.08 152 PATZFAN Broncos, Denver DEN Def

13.09 153 Texas Pride Jenkins, Michael ATL WR

13.10 154 Auslanders Vikings, Minnesota MIN Def

13.11 155 Wave of Mutilation McCardell, Keenan SDC WR

13.12 156 The Dawgs Janikowski, Sebastian OAK PK

I was desperately trying to risk the urge to add the Ravens defense, and they were finally taken. We only have 14 man rosters. I decided that McCardell had fallen three or four rounds too far, so I took my fourth WR after narrowly missing out on Coles earlier.

14.01 157 The Dawgs Gado, Samkon GBP RB

14.02 158 Wave of Mutilation Graham, Shayne CIN PK

14.03 159 Auslanders Kasay, John CAR PK

14.04 160 Texas Pride Wilkins, Jeff STL PK

14.05 161 PATZFAN Davenport, Najeh GB RB

14.06 162 Bucshot Akers, David PHI PK

14.07 163 JCIE Reed, Jeff PIT PK

14.08 164 EJ's Bulldogs Patriots, New England NEP Def

14.09 165 DC Lagers Stevens, Jerramy SEA TE

14.10 166 GIEZEL'Z DIEZEL'Z Troupe, Ben TEN TE

14.11 167 "DA WINNAHZ" Redskins, Washington WAS Def

14.12 168 Cowboys Like it Hot! Vanderjagt, Mike DAL PK

With waiver wire moves frozen until after the week one games, I had to take my kicker in the last round. I almost went with Kasay due to his accuracy and range, the likely success of the offense, and his week 9 bye. But Graham was too good to ignore and I again changed my mind.

Hopefully you can see from that how conventional tactics and expectations aren't worth much when drafting with :fishy:

Final Team (with byes)

QB Culpepper (8), Plummer (4)

RB Westbrook (9), K Jones (8), J Lewis (7), C Benson (7), T Bell (4)

WR Holt (7), C Johnson (5), Evans (8), McCardell (3)

TE Winslow (6)

PK Graham (5)

DEF Steelers (4)

Thanks for posting such a detailed synopsis!I must say, I've never gone WR/WR either, but in this league, WR's fly off the board and great RB value is there seemingly every pick.Anyone else have an "unconventional" actual results they'd like to share?

Too much work to post the whole draft. Here is the team I ended up with and the round where I took them

1.04 Larry Johnson

2.09 Torry Holt

3.04 Ronnie Brown

4.09 Roy Williams

5.04 Donald Driver

6.09 Chester Taylor

7.04 Jake Delhomme

8.09 Kevin Jones

9.04 Rod Smith

10.09 Drew Bledsoe

11.04 Antonio Bryant

12.09 Dominic Rhodes

13.04 Ben Watson

14.09 Josh Brown

15.04 Arizona

QB: Delhomme, Bledsoe

RB: LJ, Brown, Taylor, KJones, Rhodes

WR: Holt, Williams, Driver, RSmith, Bryant

TE: Watson

K: J. Brown

D: Arizona

This is my work league and we play on Yahoo using Yahoo standard rules with tweaks towards defense (why I don't know). We start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DEF. The weakest area on this team is my defense, but I plan on rotating week to week with the best matchup (AZ plays SF week 1).

SHOCKED that LJ slipped to me at 1.04. SHOCKED!

This league played out exactly like the Guppy Article stated. All the starters were filled and then the backups. I was lucky to get Delhomme at QB because I was at the start of the backup QB run. Chicago was the first defense off the board at 4.10. First kicker off the board was Rackers at 8.01.

I won this league last year, and hope to win it this year. It's almost not worth playing with these guys because they make it easy, but I try for other goals to keep me interested like going undefeated etc.

Gentlemen and Ladies, I read this thread earlier today and decided to not post a draft I had this afternoon. I feared that it would be "too guppy" and thus not provide any truly useful information for anyone drafting in a normal guppy league. Gosh...I really hate using "guppy" and "shark", but that is the premise of this thread, and I have to admit that the league I am about to describe is WAY WAY out there! :bag:

But, if anyone else happens to be invited into a work league type of draft, this may be amusing. For the record, I had no desire to play here, but they only had three people who were interested at my place of work. Thus, if I played, it would be a 4 team league. Again... :bag: Since it was decent $, and since they REALLY wanted me to play, I accepted. :bag: (Yes...that is my 3rd bag so far.)

Therefore, I guess I will go ahead and describe it anyways. Please be kind, for I would never usually post about (or play in) this kind of league. My normal leagues have been going on for 15, 13, 5, 4 and 3 years respectively...I think that is correct.

This is a money league ($100 entry fee, trades = $2 and FA transactions = $4). Since this is only a 4 team league, I tried to convince them to double the amount of starters, but no one would agree to it.

Thus, the starting requirements are:

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 TE

1 PK

1 D/ST

Bench = any 10 other players

Total roster = 19 players

Passing Touchdowns 6 points

Receiving Touchdowns 6 points

Receiving Yards 1 point for each 10 Receiving Yards

Receiving 2-Point Conversions 2 points

Fumbles Lost -1 points

Any Fumble Recovered for a Touchdown 6 points

Field Goals

0-39 yards = 3 points

40-49 yards = 4 points

50+ yards = 5 points

Extra Points Made 1 point

Sack 1 point

Safety 4 points

Interceptions 2 points

Fumble Recovery 2 points

Blocked Punt/FG/PAT 2 points

If anyone can not figure out which Team I am, then perhaps I should wear a forth :bag: .

I doubt this will be useful to most, but in the end, I figured that I could not be the only guy that has been begged to fill out a small league. If I do win the $, I plan to throw a party for all of the guys and try to help to develop their league in the future. Oh, also of note, all the guys here are a bit older than myself and make more money than me. However, in the spirit of the original article, I very well may be surprised with the final results. :D

Again, please be nice here. :(

This is my work league on Fox Sports with standard scoring 1QB/2RB/3RB/1TE/1PK/1DEF. There are a few of us who had never played FF before, me included (Who Dey). A couple of the guys didn't do the draft and let the computer pick for them. I did read the Guppy article and many more on here before I had the draft and I'm sure I made mistakes but I'm happy with my team.

We live in a great world: you can take LT2 with your first and get LJ "on the turn" :D

Just a couple of key items about my guppy league (12 team, Yahoo/PPR/6pts all TDs/WR-TE flex/std otherwise)

1. 2 QBs taken in 1st (PM and TB)

2. 4 QBs taken in 2nd

3. The owner with the first pick took LJ and then didn't take another RB until rd 8, after taking both a DEF and a PK

4. I picked 4th, first 6 rds were: SA (Peyton went 2nd), Gates, Holt (!), KJones, DFoster, DMason. I added DWilliams in the 7th. QBs are Vick/Simms/Leinart (10/11/WW)

I'm going to post one more because it's pretty funny: I went to ESPN for a mock and inadvertently entered the live draft room. About half-way through the draft I chided someone for taking too much time in a mock and he replied, "It is not!" Then I figured it out. Oops.

10 team, default league

Anyway, I got the first pick and it went rather well:

9.01 QB Marc Bulger, StL QB

1.01 RB Larry Johnson, KC RB

4.10 RB/WR DeShaun Foster, Car RB

2.10 WR Torry Holt, StL WR

3.01 WR Larry Fitzgerald, Ari WR

10.10 TE Ben Watson, NE TE

11.01 D/ST Ravens D/ST, Bal D/ST

13.10 K Shayne Graham, Cin K

BENCH

5.01 DeAngelo Williams, Car RB

6.10 Donald Driver, GB WR (!)

7.01 Drew Bledsoe, Dal QB

8.10 Marion Barber, Dal RB

12.10 Deion Branch, NE WR

Laveranues Coles, NYJ WR (14.10 M Bennett)

Michael Clayton, TB WR (15.01 I Bruce)

Wali Lundy, Hou RB (13.01 B Troupe TE)

I got Lundy off the WW after going WR-crazy for a little too long. That's okay, I usually go RB-crazy.

^We live in a great world: you can take LT2 with your first and get LJ "on the turn" :D
Ah...you figured out which team I was! :D :brilliant: ;)Difficult...was it not? ;)Anyways, you seem to have fared very well yourself! :)EDIT: My major screw-up was missing out on Gates. I was certain that I could have taken L. Fitz first and then get Gates on the next pick, but the Cinnci homer surprised me and took Gates one pick before I planned on taking him. I gambled and lost...that IS worth a :bag: . But the rest I am happy with.

This is my team in my 12-team guppy league. There were 4 QB taken in the first round, and 14 taken when I picked my first QB in the 6th. QBs get 6 points/TD, and it is a point-per-reception league.

1:10--Stephen Jackson

2:3 --Cadillac Williams

3:10--Reggie Bush (can use him as my flex, had 2 solid backs, figured I could go for high risk/high reward)

4:3 --Antonio Gates I still have no QB or WR, but Gates is in a scarce position & almost as good as a #1WR

5:10 --Derrick Mason (time to get myself a WR)

6:3 --Aaron Brooks (coulda waited later, but was afraid more people would pick backups)

7:10 --Laveranues Coles

8:3 --Michael Clayton

9:10--Drew Brees (if I wait to get a starting QB, I don't want to wait too long to draft a backup)

10:3 --TB defense

11:10--Marion Barber (not bad for the 11th round)

12:3 --Tony Dungy (this league drafts a 'head coach', you earn 10 pts if the team wins, lose 5 if they lose)

13:10--Troy Williamson

14:3 --Vernand Morency

15:10--Cedric Wilson

16:3 --David Akers

17:10--Bobby Engram

18:3 --Eric Parker

I just checked the transactions, and someone just dropped Thomas Jones. I will try to pick Jones up, then try to trade him for a backup TE, a QB, or a better WR. I've finished in the $$ both years I've been in the league, but I've never won a championship. Hopefully this is the year.

I am glad I read the Drafting with Guppies article because it prepared me for this. New league, 12 teams, 4 keeper. 1qb, 2rb, 2wr, 1te, 1k, 4 idp (any combo). Regular scoring on all, save passing tds = 6 pts.

I was still shocked with the QBs in the first round. Only thing I was disappointed was missing Turner by 5-6 picks in the 18th. Didn't think anyone would think of him. I am the Evil Hillbillies, if you want to tell me how I did. I think I jumped the TEs too early, but with the way things were going, I thought they were about to make a big run. If I had know LJ Smith would be there in the 16th freaking round, I would have waited.

WFFL 2006 draft

I am obviously Mon.

start 1qb/2rb/2wr/1te/1k/1def

1 pt for 10rushing/ 10 recieving/20passing, 5 pt bonuses for 5 receptions/100 rushing/ 100 recieving/250 passing/25 completions/ 20 rushes.

Didnt think portis would last until 2nd round for me. I have to make do with Favre Wiggins Miami as my starters but am tryign to move depth for better starters atm. Lots of strange twists in the draft that i didnt expect but went along with.

Really wasnt looking to draft the WR's and RB's but when my picks came up i didnt like the qb's te's or defenses at taht point so i just kept picking the wr's and rb's. Ended up letting Coles go after the draft to pick up turner when i realized i missed him. One other thing to note is I dont have to worry about bye weeks in the league because we just use a carryover score from the previous week. It can help or hurt your team but it makes you look ahead a week for those guys you think are on the bubble.

~crag

I'll bite. I consider this league a guppy one because I don't think most of the owners make their own projections (I know I don't). ADP doesn't carry as much weight in this league either. With that being said, most of the owners are pretty smart and know the game. This is my 4th year in the league (12 teams, 14 round draft) and I won it last year due to late acquisitions of Chris Cooley (around round 8) and Larry Johnson (round 7).

Starting Requirements

1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DT and 1 Flex (RB, WR or TE)

Scoring

1 pt per 25 yards passing, 4 pts for passing TDs.

1 pt per 10 yards rushing/receiving.

1/2 pt per reception (WR's & TE's only).

Defenses get points for points allowed as well as turnovers, kick returns, etc.

Last year we gave WR's & TE's 1 PPR and it made them too valuable. This year we reduced it to 1/2 PPR, and we also added a flex position to remove some of the RB dominance. I had the #2 pick and my strategy going into the draft was to lock up a top RB (since we only have to start one), then go WR/WR and pray that a starter like Dunn or Gore fell to me in the 4th, or one of the RB combos like Car, NE or Indy. I will gladly take D.Driver if he falls to me in the 4th, or D.Mason, as I feel both are steady receivers that I can use in the flex spot.

1.01 L. Johnson

1.02 S. Alexander

1.03 L. Tomlinson

1.04 T. Barber

1.05 S. Jackson

1.06 R. Johnson

1.07 E. James

1.08 L. Jordan

1.09 R. Brown

1.10 W. McGahee

1.11 R. Droughns

1.12 W. Dunn

I took SA over LT because LT has a bye during week 3 (division game for me) and because SA has a better playoff schedule. Let's hope there isn't a Madden curse. Droughns and Dunn in the first?? I was hoping one of them would fall to me in the 4th (slight chance going by mocks and ADP). My ADP list goes out the window at this point.

2.01 P. Manning

2.02 T. Brady

2.03 C. Palmer

2.04 S. Smith

2.05 W. Parker

2.06 C. Williams

2.07 R. Bush

2.08 T. Holt

2.09 M. Harrison

2.10 C. Johnson

2.11 L. Fitzgerald

2.12 R. Moss

As I planned to go WR/WR, I was happy to see Brady & Palmer go in the 2nd because it allowed Fitz to fall to me. I like the WR's over the questionable RB's at this point. Obviously so do 5 other owners.

3.01 B. Westbrook

3.02 R. Wayne

3.03 A. Gates

3.04 J. Jones

3.05 A. Boldin

3.06 D. Foster

3.07 S. Moss

3.08 M. Hasselbeck

3.09 C. Chambers

3.10 T. Jones

3.11 R. Williams

3.12 P. Burress

I was split on Wayne/Chambers, but I went with Wayne since it's a PPR league. Foster comes off the board in this round, so there goes my best chance at a RB combo. I notice the guy picking 4th and 9th (he is in my division) are also going WR/WR, and I wonder if they plan to run with 1 RB each week as well. The guy drafting #6 (also in my division) is taking the shark method and going RB/RB/RB (the article was right). PORTIS IS STILL ON THE BOARD (everyone is scared about his shoulder).

4.01 M. Bell

4.02 T. Heap

4.03 H. Ward

4.04 J. Shockey

4.05 T. Owens

4.06 T. Gonzalez

4.07 D. Jackson

4.08 D. McNabb

4.09 J. Delhomme

4.10 C. Dillon

4.11 D. Driver

4.12 K. Jones

2nd Tier TE's and QB's are coming off the board now. D.Driver is on the board at my pick and I am in heaven. Since I know Team #1 has already taken 2 RB's I figure he will take a WR with one of his next 2 picks since the remaining stud TE's have already been drafted (thanks Draft Dominator). Portis, K.Jones & Gore are still on the board, so I know I will get a RB2 in the 5th round. Yes, PORTIS IS STILL ON THE BOARD. Right after I pick Driver, I realize that he and Wayne have the same bye week (week 6). :wall: This prevents me from taking M.Jones and other WR's with week 6 byes later in the draft. I am still satisfied with Driver though.

5.01 D. Mason

5.02 C. Portis

5.03 E. Manning

5.04 J. Galloway

5.05 R. McMichael

5.06 T. Houshmandzadeh

5.07 D. Brees

5.08 J. Horn

5.09 T. Bell

5.10 T. Glenn

5.11 D. McAllister

5.12 A. Crumpler

Team #1 takes a WR as expected and leaves Portis on the board. I happily draft him at 5.02. Portis in the 5th when I already have SA and WR's like Fitz, Wayne and Driver? I am loving my draft right now. If he is healthy.......

6.01 Panthers

6.02 M. Clayton

6.03 Bears

6.04 D. Bledsoe

6.05 D. Davis

6.06 Steelers

6.07 J. Walker

6.08 M. Muhammad

6.09 J. Witten

6.10 F. Gore

6.11 M. Bulger

6.12 M. Vick

I wanted Gore for RB depth but he got picked right before my slot. Thanks to Draft Dominator, I notice 8 QB's are off the board. I wanted Bulger and figured Team #1 would take him if I didn't. Team #1 takes a QB with the next pick. Teams are now starting to use high picks on defenses (3 go in this round).

7.01 A. Johnson

7.02 L. Smith

7.03 R. Brown

7.04 T. Green

7.05 D. Rhodes

7.06 J. Plummer

7.07 J. Jurevicius

7.08 Colts

7.09 R. Smith

7.10 H. Miller

7.11 Cowboys

7.12 C. Brown

I think LJ Smith is a sleeper and I don't think he will make it back to me in the 8th, so I reach for him here. I probably should have gotten more RB depth (Rhodes, Maroney, D.Williams & J.Lewis were available). Guess I'm a guppy too (completing my roster and passing on depth).

8.01 D. Bennett

8.02 N. Rackers

8.03 D. Givens

8.04 M. Anderson

8.05 M. Jones

8.06 A. Vinatieri

8.07 E. Kennison

8.08 L. Maroney

8.09 C. Taylor

8.10 D. Williams

8.11 B. Watson

8.12 J. Lewis

I also think Watson is a sleeper so I pick him here. I figure either he or LJ should bust through. I still sacrifice RB depth though. No way J.Lewis should fall to the 8th round.

9.01 C. Cooley

9.02 A. Brooks

9.03 D. Branch

9.04 K. Johnson

9.05 D. Culpepper

9.06 D. Clark

9.07 B. Roethlisberger

9.08 K. Warner

9.09 D. Stallworth

9.10 B. Johnson

9.11 K. Barlow

9.12 M. Jenkins

This is the back-up QB round. I really liked Warner, but didn't think it was wise to have two QB's with injury history.

10.01 M. Brunell

10.02 C. Simms

10.03 F. Taylor

10.04 B. Leftwich

10.05 J. Stevens

10.06 C. Benson

10.07 Buccaneers

10.08 L. Coles

10.09 S. Graham

10.10 S. McNair

10.11 M. Clayton

10.12 L. Evans

I wanted Coles because he had a good SOS for week 6 (when Wayne & Driver are on bye). Since he wasn't there I went with Clayton who also has a good SOS that week and some decent upside.

11.01 Ravens

11.02 T. Duckett

11.03 Seahawks

11.04 Broncos

11.05 M. Vanderjagt

11.06 J. Addai

11.07 N. Burleson

11.08 M. Barber

11.09 Giants

11.10 J. Elam

11.11 B. Edwards

11.12 Jaguars

Just in case Portis isn't right.

12.01 J. Feely

12.02 D. Graham

12.03 J. Norwood

12.04 J. Brown

12.05 D. Akers

12.06 M. Drew

12.07 M. Stover

12.08 Rams

12.09 A. Green

12.10 K. McCardell

12.11 Dolphins

12.12 J. Kasay

13.01 T. Williamson

13.02 M. Morris

13.03 J. Wilkins

13.04 J. Wiggins

13.05 B. Jacobs

13.06 B. Favre

13.07 Redskins

13.08 R. Gardner

13.09 B. Troupe

13.10 V. Davis

13.11 Patriots

13.12 B. Franks

Just in case the Madden curse is real.

14.01 B. Lloyd

14.02 S. Janikowski

14.03 M. Booker

14.04 Falcons

14.05 I. Bruce

14.06 K. Winslow

14.07 E. Wilford

14.08 A. Bryant

14.09 A. Toomer

14.10 K. Curtis

14.11 N. Kaeding

14.12 J. Kitna

Final Team (with byes)

QB Bulger (7), Brooks (3)

RB SA (5), Portis (8), Duckett (8), Morris (5)

WR Fitzgerald (9), Wayne (6), Driver (6), Clayton (7)

TE LJ Smith (9), Watson (6)

K Kaeding (3)

DEF Dolphins (8)

Again, this is a guppy league but it's pretty competitive. The playoff spots usually come down to the final week or two. I like my team but I do lack RB depth....

After seeing a couple of the drafts I'm wondering if the posters are showing that they might be guppies themself?
