Computer Help - "Moon Worm" (1 Viewer)

Arizona Ron

I keep getting this redirection when I use Google Chrome

http://i61.tinypic.com/30d8mk0.jpg

A few notes, I only have one extension for Google Chrome (Adobe for Chrome - not the free version, purchased license for Adobe Acrobat IX Pro)

I have a paid subscription to Maleware Bites, nothing detected

I used Microsoft Essentials, legit account, updated and nothing comes up.

Any idea what's doing this?

I've already gone directly to Adobe and it says everything is up to date - no way would I download from this sketchy site but it redirects me ALL the time.

It also always tries to download a 'Setup.exe' - again, no way I allow it to download.

Any suggestion?

Appears to be the moon worm. Update or reset your router.

So reading the forum, this part I don't know how to do: "It's called the Moon virus or worm. It does not reside in your pc. It is malicious code that is embedded into your wireless router primarily Linksys but D-Link and Motorola have also been affected. Simple fix is to reinstall your firmware and simultaneously delete all web browsing and cache from the browser than even resetting your browser to factory default and YOUR PROBLEM IS FIXED."

I don't know how to reinstall firmware. Also, I do use Linksys.

ETA: Correction, I'm using Verison's router on this machine.

Verizon is your ISPs router. Do you have a wireless router too? If not you may have to call your ISP and tell them what's going on.

There should be a reset button on the router that is just wide enough to get a ball-point pen on. Hold that in for a good 60 seconds and you should see all of your router lights flash.

That will reset it but I would still call Verizon to have them push the firmware.

Called Verizon FIOS, they updated the firmware, reinstalled Google Chrome. No issues now.
