Connection to NFL players (1 Viewer)

The commissioner in our league played against Adrian Peterson and Matthew Stafford in high school and another league member is brother-in-law to Josh and Luke McCown (not fantasy relevant but NFL players nonetheless) while the entire league knows the QBs since they're from our home town and grew up in the church we all attend. So with the season opener one day away I'm wondering if any other members of the SP have any connections with NFL players?

I coached Ravens T Jared Gaither in high school basketball and still talk to him on a somewhat regular basis. I went to college and remain friends with Kris Jenkins and Lamont Jordan.

I also grew up playing basketball with former 1st round bust David Terrell. And one of the owners in my main league is the step father of current Terp and future NFL player IMO, David Megget. And yes, that David Megget, is his father.

Justin Gage chipped my tooth when we were in like 1st grade playing football, his knee & my mouth didn't get along very well!Other than that, I used to go to parties with Justin Smith as we had several mutual friends and played softball against him several times during the summer after he graduated high school. Once, I hit the ball off the fence and was rounding 1st and he playfully slapped me on the back as I ran past him at 1st base and said "get in there for that double" or something to that effect...anyway, he pretty much sent me flying as my momentum was already going forward and I ended up face down halfway between 1st and 2nd and then he started cracking up when I had to scramble to get to 2nd. At that time, I was probably 6 foot tall and 210 lbs, he was 6'4 230ish and solid muscle...dude was strong then, I can't imagine how strong he is now!

You from 1st J-ville? Met the McCown boys at SOAR a few years ago. I was very impressed with Luke.

Yeah, I am. Crazy to see someone in here that knows that and has been to SOAR.

I was Daryn Colledge's (GB O-line) high school basketball coach. Guy didn't play basketball OR FOOTBALL until his senior year. Three years later, he was an all-american.

Journey-man backup QB Jamie Martin was one of my hosts on my recruiting trip to Weber State back in the day and then a teammate.

I was a high school freshman when Marino was a senior.

Also lost a wrestling match to Bill Fralic. It was over QUICKLY. The dude was a mountain already in high school

Phil Garner dribbled tobacco spit on my Pirate program while signing it before a game. I know wrong sport but it was cool.

This sounds lame, but it's the best I got:

I sat right behind Phil Simms and his 2 then very young sons at a showing of Honey I Shrunk the Kids...they all enjoyed it...

Same HS as Antonio Gates, he was probably better at BBall. His team won BBall state title in 1998. He should've won Mr Basketball in Michigan that year, came in 2nd. Just a beast in the low post. BTW, he played LB in HS.

I worked with the mother of Jerome Harrison's sister's Godson...Jerome's sister lives with him, so the kid knows him REALLY well.

Personally? The closest that I have is playing against Andy Katzenmoyer in high school. Dude was a beast.

My buddy tackled O.J. McDuffie in high school.

I have tackled my buddy.

By the transitive property of tackling, I have therefore tackled O.J. McDuffie.

After his playing career, I used to play pick-up basketball with former WR/KR Chas Fox. They used to make me guard him because no one else could keep up with him up and down the court

Also worked with Robert Brooks' mother one summer.

I had class next door to Culpepper at UCF and played basketball against him in a pickup game once. He almost dunked over me..........but I moved out of the way

A few ...

- One of the Saints's starting LBs from the 70s is a first cousin

- My brother used to hang out with 80s-era Saints' OL Brad Edelman and Steve Korte (all three played instruments and jammed together)

- Only one real played-against story: sophomore Kordell Stewart single-handedly whipping my HS team's butt pretty much by himself.

I played on the same high school basketball team as Randy Moss and Jason Williams. I didn't start, but it was so much fun, we destroyed teams.

I used to train at the same boxing gym as Shawn Merriman. He's kinda of a snob.

Also, a kid I went to school with and knew pretty well's father played OL for the Patriots at in the 80s/90s. And not many people know this but Adrian Peterson was adopted by a family in Bullard, a town about 40 miles away from his home town of Palestine. Since my dad lived in Bullard I hung out there a lot and one of my friends played Madden against Peterson on thanksgiving when he was at his adopted family's house. My friend won but the idiot didn't ask for anything autographed.

The real question is how many people on the board ARE NFL players? I know you guys are hiding around here somewhere.

When I was younger I played on the same baseball team as Jesse Palmer ("The Bachelor" and former NY Giants QB and now ESPN analyst)....that's all I got...my wife was in some classes with Ladanian Tomlinson at TCU....

Grew up Henderson in the 80s. Played in the Tomato Bowl several times. That was when Henderson was the dominant force in the district along with Carthage & Kilgore. Back on track... Ricky Dudley, former 1st round pick of the Raiders, played TE when I was a senior. He was dumb as a box of rocks.

I've got nothing, but it's 1 part amazing and 1 part predictable that all of the players people seem to know back when they were kids were dominant at everything. Kinda puts it into perspective for me the type of gifted athlete you have to be to not only make it to the nfl, but succeed. You have to basically be born into dominance.

I used to room with Shawn Jefferson's (WR that used to play for the Chargers) brother Barry during my time in the Army. His brother told me that Shawn was pretty much a headcase, and didn't really stay in contact with his family much back then.

Also, my best friend's sister roomed with Jimmy Kleinsasser's sister in college. Said Jimmy was about the nicest guy that you could ever meet. From what I've heard, he loves playing with the legend himself, Mr. Brett "Wafflehouse" Favre

One of my best friends from college is married to a guy who used to sell steroids to about a dozen NFL players, he is based out in SoCal and used to have my friend be his mule by having her drive across the border with the steroids hidden in the car door panels while he walked back to the US side of the border.

You will be testifying before congress in the near future. I wouldn't spout that kind of stuff out.

I'll make sure to consult Clemens once the subpoena for Snickers from FBG has been issued

Joe Montana grew up in New Eagle, my mother in Monongahela, which is the next town over. Routinely hung out with him in HS as one of her friends went out with him for a long time. He dumped her when he went to Notre Dame.

My sophomore year at Miami U (Ohio), at a Halloween party I dressed up as an intoxicated and naive coed. Midway through the party, Ben Roethlisberger showed me his junk in a hallway bathroom. I chuckled, as I just assumed it was part of his costume. You should've seen his face when I pulled up my dress. A swordfight to end all swordfights ensued.

I've played a decent amount of poker with current/former Bengals and now 2 of the dealers there have a son who starts for the Bills.

Sean Considine, FS for the Jags (used to be w/ Philly) is a 2nd cousin of mine. I never met him but my cousins that live in Illinois know him.

Also, when I was a kid, Howie Long's wife used to work at the same law firm as my father and he would go to the Xmas parties and stuff... I shook his had a couple times.

Sheri was one hell of an athlete her self. Also I know a grill who is friends with a grill that slept with Lance Briggs.

I was taking a piss at Tony Siragusa's restaurant and almost bumped into him as I turned toward the sink. We stopped, stared at each other for a second, and he goes.. "Sorry, I'm like a bull in a china shop when I have to piss"

Also used to live next door to former Giant Butch Woolfolk for about 8 years, growing up in NJ.

:lmao:

Have recently played poker with Peterson and his brother. Also, shuffled a few cards with Romo and Barry Switzer last off season. (Peterson, Switzer solid. Romo not.)

Also, DT Harris CHI is a not nice dude. He has twice been my retail customer. Sigh.

worked with Herman Fontenot at a mortgage company a few years ago. Bad drunk, one of a dying few that still wear turtle necks, loves young white women.

I met Larry Fitzgarald at Super Bowl 39 in Jacksonville. One of the nicest guys you will ever meet
