Consensus LB Rankings? (1 Viewer)

Hey fellas, IDP newb. I'm assuming that Vilma and Bulluck will go 1-2, and I'm sitting in the 3 spot of a start-up dynasty. I've got my eye on these guys, but am just unsure of what will make the most sense. Here are my thoughts on the following potential draftees, albeit basic knowledge:

- Lofa: Seems like a stud in the making, but should I be anchoring my roster to an unknown?

- Urlacher: Not quite what he was. How much does he have left in the tank? I think I'd prefer someone more on the upswing.

- Mike Peterson: Seems like the consistent one of the bunch, but honestly don't know much about him.

- Antonio Pierce: Well, I'm a Giants fan, so this could be fun. Should I be concerned about the ankle, even a little? His stats are also not quite as overwhelming as the guys above.

I did a search, and looked through the FAQ...but still confused. Am I missing something that makes one of these guys the no-brainer, or is my ambivalence justified?

Thx

Scoring:

TK=1

STY=2

SK=3

INT=5

FR=5

DTD=6

You're not missing anything.With the influx in solid 4-3 MLB over the past couple of seasons, there is a huge 1a tier of linebackers. You could probably make cases for Ray Lewis, Donnie Edwards, London Fletcher, Kirk Morrison, DeMeco Ryans, Keith Brooking, Will Witherspoon, Zach Thomas, and Nick Barnett in that tier as well.In a startup dynasty, you've probably identified the best four. Some would argue that Lewis, Edwards, and Thomas have a couple of seasons left in them as well.Any of the four are good targets. I see no reason to worry about Pierce's ankle; had it not been for that injury, Pierce may well have finished with stats comparable to the rest of the guys on your list. I wouldn't classify Tatupu as an unknown. His stats were earned -- good tackler, solid instincts, always in position, nickel backer -- and he'll be a fine anchor. Urlacher has plenty left in the tank. Be careful about writing 28 year olds about to enter the prime years of their career -- it can cost you 3-5 years of top five production (ZThomas/DEdwards/etal) while you're chasing second tier youngsters.

Be very careful about passing on known studs for "future studs"

I've seen plenty of people think Zach was going to be toast last year when they got Crowder & Saban took over. Guys who are that productive & good find there way into lineups even if the scheme isn't perfect, and they are holdovers from prior regimes. You can't go wrong with any of the guys you listed, but I'd take Lofa.

thx fellas...commish just notified that the idp portion of the draft is in reverse order...may not see any of these guys...but appreciate the insight/help.

cheers

if you are looking at rankings based on points from last year I am gonna give you a name to stay away from:

You might consider Gibril Wilson, but I wouldn't touch a DB until every tackle monster LB is off the board.

If you search for threads in this forum started by me, there are consensus lists for DL, DB, and LB that were done on this forum in the spring.

tillman is not bad. Don't sleep on Barber even though he's old. I really like Kerry Rhodes and Madieu Williams. I think they will be huge one day, possibly this year.
