Corey Dillon thread... (1 Viewer)

Turner has had 15 or more carries in a game, once. He's gotten over 100 yards, once. He has not proven that he's able to carry the load like so many of you say. It funny how many people think he's already a top RB. I love this place. Every year a player gets over hyped. And boosts up their trade value

agreed but it's nothing compared to the rookie hype on these boards.

All of that is true and it's due to lack of opportunity, not ability. Big difference.

KFFL is now reporting a Barlow - Titans interest...I would hope just posturing by Barlow's agent in an attempt to whip up activity on an otherwise dead client.

When the time comes, please let us know what you are able to get for Turner. TIA

Dillon still in play from the Tennessean:

Plans go forward on back

Meet with Turner and Dillon is next before a decision

By JIM WYATT

Staff Writer

The Titans met with Chargers running back Michael Turner and will soon meet with former Patriots running back Corey Dillon.

Then it's decision time.

"We are interested in both of them,'' Titans Coach Jeff Fisher said Wednesday. "Both of them can help us out, but they are different situations. One is just getting started, and the other is kind of winding down. But Corey has something left."

The Titans also remain interested in re-signing Chris Brown, who spent most of last season on the bench.

Dillon's scheduled visit with the Titans on Wednesday was postponed, but Fisher said he's talked to the 10-year veteran "several times" and "he has given me every indication he wants to play'' even though he's talked about retiring.

Turner was scheduled to visit the Bills on Wednesday, but the trip was postponed due to problems with his flight out of Chicago.

Acquiring Turner, a restricted free agent, could be tricky. The Chargers tendered him at $2.35 million, with first- and third-round draft pick compensation.

The Titans remain interested in a trade, but indications are they're not considering giving up a first-round pick. Chargers GM A.J. Smith has said he's "flexible" on compensation.

Turner's agent, Bus Cook, said contract conversations with the Titans haven't gone very far.

The deadline to sign a restricted free agent is April 20, but a trade could be made after that date.

Asked whether Turner prefers the Titans or Bills, Cook said: "He just wants to go play. I think he likes Tennessee, but we'll have to see how much Tennessee likes him.''

:fingerscrossed:

I'd offer to swap 1st rounders and add in a 4th round pick for Turner. Moving down to 30 would still net them ANthony Spencer at DE.

Also, GBN's newest 3 round mock is really tasty. TItans end up with Marshaun Lynch, Jonathan Wade, and Justin Durant. Very hard to argue with those results.

Cmon Dillon is so finished it s not even funny .

He probably rns a 8.55 /40 that s probably the first 40 then the next 10 yards is 20 seconds .

He is done nothing left so great they would have Fatso and slo mo as RB's great move for the Titans. Then it gets worst they are talking Barlow , what a joke .

Deal for Turner and have a real RB not those tow sideshows ( Dillon and White ).

I have to disagree that Dillon is "done". His rushing stats alone from last season reflect an RB in decline  ..........but not done......199 - 812 - 4.1 - 50(longest run) - 13(TD's) - 3 - 48 (1st downs)

Boston Herald:

Dillon in holding pattern

Posted by Albert Breer at 6:57 pm

Former Patriots RB Corey Dillon appears to be waiting to make his move.

According to agent Steve Feldman, a reported visit to the Titans for this week is still in the planning stages right now. The Bills and Rams are still in the mix for Dillon’s services. Feldman said simply that “He just hasn’t gotten on a plane yet.”

The Eagles also have expressed some interest.

The one thing that could be holding things up a bit right now is the presence of Chargers RB Michael Turner on the block.

Turner is a bellcow-in-the-making who’s stuck behind all-universe talent LaDainian Tomlinson, and San Diego’s fielding offers for the restricted free agent. Two of the teams in the running for Dillon, the Bills and Titans (who lost Willis McGahee and Travis Henry, respectively), are after Turner right now.

According to the NFL Network via PFT:

DILLON DONE, FOR NOW

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that running back Corey Dillon plans to retire.

The 10-year veteran shopped himself on the free-agent market after being cut by the Patriots, but no offers came his way.

Dillon, the one-time holder of the single-game rushing record, spent seven years with the Bengals and three with the Patriots.

We've got a feeling, however, that he'll be back. Like other veterans have done in past years, he can skip all of the offseason workouts and field offers once camps open.

Once the inevitable ACL tears and other injuries begin to occur, Dillon's phone will ring.
