Cornerbacks (1 Viewer)

I'm having a little trouble finding a solid cornerback. What exactly makes a good cornerback in fantasy football, and can anyone suggest some good sleeper candidates who are getting a lot of snaps? Tyrann Mathieu is someone I've been keeping my eye on, but I wish I knew more about him or someone else to keep my eye on.

So safety and corners fall under the same position for you? If you can list a few that are available we may be able to assist you a little better. No point listing guys that aren't availble right?

I've been using Maxwell, its been good times.

Mathieu is a free safety that plays slot corner sometimes. If he qualifies at CB, he could be a good one, but his role this year is cloudy due to coming off injury (torn ACL) and the excellent play of the other safeties there (Jefferson, Johnson, Bucannon). Depending on the matchup (ie: is the opponents base set 3 WRs?), he can be a better fantasy player in a slot corner role as he's closer to the line than at FS. If he's healthy enough, I would assume he'll be matched up on Welker this week vs Denver and it could be very good. But we haven't seen him get a full complement of snaps yet so there is risk here.

Mathieu is a cornerback and safety in my league. Sorry for the confusion. I will look up the list of available corners and send that in a little bit.

I personally look at tackles, picks are impossible to predict or expect. I like the rookie from Denver (Bradley Roby) as he's been consistent with his tackling and seems to be on the field a lot.

As mentioned before, are you just looking at CB's?

If just CB's, I look at tackles. Do you get points for passes deflected? I also like to look at who their teammate is (who is the other CB on their team). I'm not sure if that really matters but just something I like to look at.

For example:

Maxwell - he has Sherman on the other side so teams probably won't throw over to Sherman's side or to whomever Sherman is on as much as your regular CB.

Maxwell will have more opportunities to get tackles, break up passes or even some int's.
