Cory Redding signed (1 Viewer)

ESPN story

Last year, Rod Marinelli moved Cory Redding from defensive end to defensive tackle in the belief he could be one of the best defensive tackles in football.

On Monday, the Lions backed up that belief by making him the highest-paid defensive tackle in football. Redding, the team's franchise player in 2007, agreed to a seven-year, $49 million contract that included $16 million in guarantees, including $13 million in signing bonus and roster guarantees.

As a Lions fan, I am really happy that they committed to Redding. He was dominant after Marinelli moved him to the under tackle position. The middle of the line with Redding and Rogers should be hard to handle for opposing offensive lines, and hopefully that will translate into a better overall pass rush.

For those of you who play in leagues that separate DE and DT, Redding may have a chance to be the #1 DT, and could be a viable DL3 in standard leagues.
