could Harry Douglas become a worthy Fantasy WR? (1 Viewer)

although it seems he has so far: 20 of 48 passes have gone to Roddy White. After that, it's pretty well distributed.

Jason Snelling has 6 catches, Harry Douglas 5, Gonzo is only the 4th receiving option so far with 4 catches (to think he was a keeper in my league - pfff), as much as Eric Weems (who?)...

so if Matt Ryan keeps airing it out in the absence of Michael Turner, and if defenses double team Roddy consistently (and why wouldnt they given the alternatives?), that could open things up for Harry here, in Michael Jenkins' absence, couldnt it?

Considering he hasnt had his breakout game yet, he isnt hyped yet, and isnt flying off the WW just yet. So this is an attempt at anticipationg the hype!

Thoughts? Opinion?

There was a lot of Harry Douglas love preseason and even last year but I tried to post some notes that Dan Reeves mentioned in the preseason down here in Miami. He talked in detail about Douglas and mentioned his size. The guy is 5-11, 170 lbs...now I know people scream DeSean Jackson but it's foolish to compare them as they are not the same WR. Jackson has a lot more skillset right now. Also he mentioend the slot, that Douglas would be filling that role. I think Harry's size if he is lining up outside is part of the problem. DBs can just blanket him and he doesn't have the body size to make a human shield between the ball and the DB bearing down on him.

Bottom line for me is I see Douglas as the 3rd option at best in the passing game and long term I am not as high as many others are on him. Atlanta is set up to have stats for the WR1, next the TE, after that not too much. That could change but they are a power football team or at least play that way. Not enough finesse to really warrant much production out of the rest of the group. Jenkins has been a fringe guy since Coach Smith got there.

Steve Smith has thrived for years without a bonafide #2 WR, except maybe Muhsin Muhammad for a time. Roddy will have some quiet games when secondaries have some success, but there's no reason why he can't dominate the passing game a la Smith.
