Could JP Losman be in the Pro Bowl? (1 Viewer)

Phillip Rivers is out

Tom Brady has a prior committment and it looks like he may choose to sit out

Manning has the thumb injury and may very well use it as an excuse not to play in it

That leaves guys like Pennington, Young, McNair and Losman.

I doubt that a single person before this season started said: "JP Losman has a legitimate chance to play in the Pro Bowl this season."

They should just get rid of the game. I've been to 4 Pro-Bowls and never really cared to watch any of them. I'm not sure I even made it into the stadium for all 4. :excited:

My thought is if someone like Losman makes it, then why have the game? Might be time to ditch it if avg players just make it for the sake of it.

I'll be in Hawaii for the ProBowl this year.No desire to go to the game.

Woah, what's wrong with Losman's numbers this year? He did a fine job.Tony Romo is going to the Pro Bowl, is he more deserving?

I think that Romo is pretty good proof that the voting process begins and ends WAY too early. And as much of a fan as I am of JP, his numbers are definitely just good, not Pro Bowl type numbers. I think most people want to see a Pro Bowl QB with 3500+ yards passing and 30+ TDs. Those are the numbers that people look at when they think Pro Bowl. But I definitely agree that some of his stats this season get overlooked. His 62.5% completion percentage was very good, his 7.11 yards per pass attempt were very good, his TD percentage of 4.4% was good and his QB rating of 84.9 was pretty darn good as well.

Why not? I think Tom Chambers went to an NBA All Star game one year because he was in the area and someone pulled out. He may have evn won the mVP award for that All Star game? I would not miss it if all the major sports got rid of their all star games. They are so overrated and uninteresting IMO.

 Hold on here. I know you're not comparing J.P. Losman possibly going to the Pro-Bowl to Tom Chambers going to an NBA all-star game. Chambers did win the MVP the year that it was in Seattle. He went to several all-star games, scored over 20,000 points and averaged over 20 points per game multiple seasons (including 23 per game the year that he won the MVP in the all-star game). J.P. Losman couldn't hold a candle to Tom Chambers.

Every pro sports All-Star game is a joke. All-Star games are for kids, and should be kept that way.

Now, an AP All-Pro team, sure. A game? Gay.

BTW, I was a HUGE Robert Edwards fan (and fantasy owner to boot) :

I heard that Chambers wasn't really accurate on the long ball and he struggled to put enough zip on it for a deep out.

Nope. I liked Tom Chambers too. My point is that the reason he even got into that game was that he was a good player and could make it on short notice. Maybe Losman should fly to Hawaii and hang around in case they need a live body?

What does each player receive for making the trip?

Maybe the NFL just needs to put some extra incentive into it for the big star players.

$40,000 for the player on the winning team and $20,000 for the losers.Just edited to add that Super Bowl winners make $73,000 and the losers will make $38,000 this year. Plus there's money given to Wildcard winners. So potentialy Peyton Manning could make up to $188,000 dollars if he wins the Superbowl and goes to the Pro Bowl and wins. Not too shaby.

that's chump change in the big picture. He probably makes more than 10X that in endorsements.

No, but I'm sure that someone could have said "JP Losman will only play in the Pro Bowl this year if all the good QBs in the AFC are injured or drop out." Which is still true, imho.

Young may edge out Losman.

I am holding on to JP in my keeper league, thinking I'll get good value to hold on to him in exchange for a 5th round pick in a 16 team league. We only keep 2 players and Losman will probably be the only guy i can keep.

What Im trying to say is he had a promising year, but not a probowl one in my opinion. Next year he should improve to ProBowl status though.

PFT right now is reporting that McNair is the next alternate after Brady right now.My guess is that if Mannings backs out after the Super Bowl that Young will indeed be the next choice since he's the big name. Just for kicks, here are the stats for McNair compared to Losman:McNair: 3050 yards passing, 63% completion percentage, 16 TDs, 12 INTs, 82.5 QB ratingLosman: 3051 yards passing, 62.5% completion percentage, 19 TDs, 14 INTs, 84.9 QB ratingOf course two other major differences are their teams' records and McNair's 7 fumbles (1 lost) to Losman's 13  fumbles (7 lost!).

Next year he should improve to ProBowl status though.
Or revert to the player who was almost benched half-way through this season. It doesn't always work the way you hope it will.David Carr (among a legion of others) says :bye:
You are correct. Its a crapshoot. I think he looked to be improving, but I could just be hallucinating. The Stat Tracker and the Game are two different things. I can say that hes worth holding onto for a look, but by no means is he guaranteed to success being a buffalo QB.
