Could we all look like The Rock if we wanted to? (1 Viewer)

I've been told by strangers several times I look like The Rock. True Story.

:oldunsure:

I can see it, if The Rock quit lifting and eating McDonalds for a few months.

I feel like I'm coming off like Rocks mom or something but it is possible to be naturally big. I just don't understand the instant judgement that if it isn't easy or ordinary there must be a cheat. And really don't we pretty much know who is cheating pretty quickly? We all know Sly is shot full of chemicals for instance. But I can't find any whistleblowers claiming that about Johnson. I don't know how I got sucked into defending the guy he doesn't need my help.

after Lance, our confidence is shaken.

Fair enough.

:lmao: at Oats thinking he can bulk up like the Rock. Dude, if you bulk up, the ladies can't see your six pack or your guns under that $90 hoodie.

Science has basically proven bow big you can get by height down to the ounce. With out knowing his specifics I'm going to assume he's over by 10-25%.

Really? I would love a link if you have one to that research.

No. Genetics will hold majority back.
One of my best friends who played in the CFL and the Arena League told me, "you can't cut 260 pounds." Genetics will take you so far, then it's stuff God never intended that makes up the difference.
Sounds scientific and legit.
Seems like he would know better than me. Walter Jones, Bruce Matthews, and Johnathan Ogden weren't cut like WWF guys, this isn't that hard to understand IMO.
Guys like Calvin Johnson and Julius Peppers are cut, and the Rock is about their height and in-between their weights.

I noticed he's bigger/more ripped in his recent stuff. He was never that impressive looking back in his wrestling peak.
Here's his daily food intake:

Sure, he’s a WWE superstar and a Hollywood A-lister, but ever notice how the Rock looks every bit a bodybuilder? (That’s a rhetorical question.) How does he do it? By working with a conditioning coach—specifically, IFBB pro bodybuilder George Farah. Check out Johnson’s muscle-building diet:

Dwayne Johnson's Diet

Meal 1

  • 10 oz cod
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 2 cups oatmeal
Meal 2

  • 8 oz cod
  • 12 oz sweet potato
  • 1 cup veggies
Meal 3

  • 8 oz chicken
  • 2 cups white rice
  • 1 cup veggies
Meal 4

  • 8 oz cod
  • 2 cups rice
  • 1 cup veggies
  • 1 tbsp fish oil
Meal 5

  • 8 oz steak
  • 12 oz baked potato
  • spinach salad
Meal 6

  • 10 oz cod
  • 2 cups rice
  • salad
Meal 7

  • 30 grams casein protein
  • 10 egg-white omelet
  • 1 cup veggies (onions, peppers, mushrooms)
  • 1 tbsp omega-3 fish oil
Notes

► “I do cardio 4–5 a.m., then take 4–6 scoops of Optimum’s Amino Energy.”

► “After cardio I eat breakfast [Meal no. 1].”

► “After breakfast I hit the iron for 90 minutes.”

► “Post-workout I have 60 grams Optimum Nutrition’s Platinum Hydrowhey with 15 grams of glutamine.”

► “Thiry minutes later I consume 32 oz of Gatorade.

That's a lot of mercury he's taking in. If we aren't careful, he's going to be a comic book villain soon.

The other big problem is most of us are a bit old. If we started at 14 or whatever Dwayne did, we could maybe get to 80% of what he is using protein shakes, creatine, BCAA, etc. At 35-50, not sure that is really on the table anymore. However, eat right, lift a lot, take some supplements and you can get still get a movie star body.

Even folks our age can get a well muscled, yet still lean physique through lifting hard and calorie counting. The Rock however has tons of muscle, plus he's lean, plus he's not exactly young anymore.

I hear you. The Rock seems like a good guy and it's annoying when people are so quit to say steroids. Let him be. Everyone's body is different and everyone's diet and work ethic is different too.

I say give him the benefit of the doubt.

This is a great article in a ELI5 type format for those that want to understand how implausible the Rock is. There are obviously more journalistic type articles to link out there.

In a controversial interview taken by Brian D. Johnston a long time ago the popular bodybuilder Sergio Oliva revealed that even Steve Reeves was subject to steroids. Here is the original quote:

“I don’t care who wants to take steroids, because that’s a personal choice… that’s his life. Now, today, everybody has access to them. I even saw in one of the big magazines that Arnold denies having used them, but Arnold was one of the first to bring steroids over to America.

And everybody in the old days used them: Zane, Columbu, myself, Arnold, Larry Scott, Harold Poole, Dave Draper, and even Steve Reeves. There’s no way to deny it. It wasn’t much, nothing like today.

But the development of drugs is much different. I used Deca and Dianabol, and that was something really big at the time; and Deca was not considered that bad.” {link to the whole interview}

Taking steroids doesn't make him a bad guy. Even lying about using them doesn't make him a bad guy.

Ha! Suck it Rock!

The Rock has the perfect genetics. Half Samoan gives him the overall bulk needed to be as big as he is. Half black gives him the tone to be as cut as he is. Obviously all this accentuated by his work ethic.

I agree, but well muscled and lean isn't = to the Rock. He's huge, but he has been working at that for over 2 decades.

The proper question is could the Rock look like the average FBG if he wanted? The answer is no.

The Rock definitely has great genetics and is naturally pretty big and in great shape. However, he very big and very ripped.

He is definitely on steroids. I have spent many years in the gym. I have trained with competing bodybuilders. All of them were on steroids. All. Each of them verifies what is common knowledge. We all have physical limits as to where we can take our bodies. That limit is way below the bodies of bodybuilders and the Rock.
