Counting Crows - Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings (1 Viewer)

Just downloaded the cd on itunes. listening to the first track as I type this. I am a huge crows fan. my first impression of hanging tree is ok. A good blend of AAEA and RTS.

I have seen them live with the band LIVE. That show was phenomenal. The crows are great live, LIVE is the best I have ever seen live.

Got it today but haven't listened yet. Saw them in concert last August and they were incredible.

Decent Adam Duritz article in RS right now.

Didn't they remake that Amy Grant song about a parking lot?

Man.....this band ROCKS!!!
;) It was Joni Mitchell.
:goodposting: The original or the remake?

ETA: WTH is Joni Mitchell and why do you know who that is?
Big Yellow Taxi - by Joni Mitchell
Joni Mitchell was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. In 1995, she received Billboard's Century Award. In 1996 she was awarded the Polar Music Prize.

She has received nine regular Grammy Awards during her career, with the first coming in 1969 and the most recent in 2008. She received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002, with the citation describing her as "one of the most important female recording artists of the rock era" and "a powerful influence on all artists who embrace diversity, imagination and integrity."
:lmao: at "WTH is Joni Mitchell?"
Well, I'll be darned.Who knew?
most of America probably

First time through and I like it and I think it'll hold up of course I'm a huge fan. I really like Washington Sqaure.

Saw then twice and they are great live. Come here to KC on Sept 26th so I'm so there.

Meant to dig this thread up, glad it popped back on the first page.

I listened to this several times this weekend. It's growing on me, but I didn't love it the first time through. I like the split between up tempo stuff and slower stuff (Sat nights, Sun morns). The guitar work seems more advanced or something on this one as compared to before, but I'm no musician. A lot of the choruses are left wanting.

Really like 1492, Cowboys, Los Angeles, and Washington Square.

Just ordered the live album where Jimmy Page joined them for a short while. (couldn't find it on Itunes - maybe I was just looking in the wrong place) I'd forgotten about that. GB Pandora.com for reminding me. :banned:

I always thought they would be great Live. I love their sound and the lead singers voice.

Saw CC in 2001.

Best concert I've ever been to.

All their albums are good-to-great; I have a soft spot for 'This Desert Life'

Have a buddy that worked security 10 years ago or so at the amphitheater here in Nashville. Not surprisingly, he said funky smoke was rolling out of their room/trailer when he went to get them. :hifive:

I bet I was at that concert. Recovering the Satellites tour? Would have been 15 years ago, though.

Gosh, I'm getting old...six years later and I'm posting about the newest studio album...Somewhere Under Wonderland.

Two listens in so far, and I really like it. Much better album than SN&SM. Some really decent tracks on this album.

"Scarecrow"

"God of Ocean Tides"

There's also a little spot in the song "Possibility Days" that is absolute classic Adam Durtiz and is fantastic (if you're not one of those people who despise Duritz's voice).

I am really digging this album. My favorite track is Cover Up the Sun. But I like rambling stream of consciousness songs.Overall a really good album. Best they've done in awhile.

Agreed. I think it's their best stuff in quite awhile. I'm about 4-5 listens through the album. I also really like Cover Up the Sun...that song would easily fit on This Desert Life. Possibility Days is terrific, as well.

Glad to see they had another really strong album in the tank.
