Typo, nbd. It's really weird that the official line is that this was some kind of secret code is bizarre.
Not just a typo but an incomplete thought. I picture the orange one in bed watching fox news and surfing RT and randomly tweeting. Drifting off he starts to type and just passes out mid-thought. Ready to go for those 1am emergencies.

Open invitation, not just for Shamrock. Can anyone come up with a theory that lets a rational person conclude that the person who did this is capable of being the president?  Take Trump and his many other absurdities out of the equation if you want. Let's assume someone generally well-liked and considered competent like Joe Biden (age 74) won the election and then did this.  What's the story?
@CillizzaCNN: Did someone mention me? https://twitter.com/CillizzaCNN/status/870040935132000257/photo/1

I already said my piece, but IMO:

Tired = Tired

Tired =\= Incapable/Incompetent (at least in this case if we are looking purely at a single mistake).

Obviously, go up and read my response to SID. As I said there are a bunch of other things to actually show his incompetency than this little hiccup.

It sounds like the sounds of someone snoring....

Deep inhale: "COOOVVV"

Light exhale: "fe fe"

To quote the Holy Grail, "Maybe he was dictating?"

Come on.  You're acting like people are unfamiliar with the sensation of being tired and falling asleep, which is the only way this explanation could possibly be satisfactory.

So basically the argument is, "This guy is so f###ed up, this shouldn't even register as a blip on the radar."

And that is what frightens me.

I have accidentally tweeted things before. I realized it and deleted it, but he's old and it was late.

I hate Trump, but this isn't a big deal. Anyone trying to make a big deal out of this, pull your head out of the sand, and go find one of 100 other issues that could actually be a big deal.

This is just funny, plain and simple.

Let's get to it - the WH press secretary said it had a specific meaning and that it was not a typo - but you me and everyone knows that is just pathetic. It is completely obvious that Trump meant to write "press coverage" but he fell asleep in the middle of his sentence.

^Actual president.
Yeah....why does Trump consistently double down on stupidity?

He could have just said that he was sitting on the can, writing the tweet when he got some backsplash...it startled him,  he hit enter and didn't realize it.  Just about everyone in America would have sympathized with that and found common ground with him.  Instead....he throws good money after money on this thing and makes himself look more foolish.

Covfefe = What happens when you commit three errors, botch two other plays,

throw a wild pitch and allow 7+ unearned runs in one inning

Everything is a big deal in the resistance

Well he got bigly to catch on so he is probably seeing how many words he can get to be popular. Fetch has to be next.

I can see the tweet now:

Covfefe bigly. That is so fetch

Don't forget how he came up with priming the pump.  He did pretty good getting that one started...

I have a million times more respect for someone who just admits that they make a mistake than someone who pretends that they're never wrong.

This is such a stupid thing and yet such a perfect illustration of how mentally screwed up our President is. First, for being so impulsive that he sends out tweets from his official account with such dumb typos, but also in doubling down in refusing to just admit to the tiniest of all mistakes. If you can't even just admit to such a small dumb mistake, that speaks volumes for his ability to make good decisions period. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone. The best leaders are able to quickly identify those mistakes, admit that they are mistakes, and identify the best way to correct or prevent them going forward.

Tweeting out a typo is no big deal. Could have been as innocuous as he was typing, fumbled his phone and managed to mangle the word and hit post. And if course he wouldn't respond after that because he was probably embarrassed and trying to come up with a stupid cover story for why he didn't make a mistake. Which seems to be exactly the path they went rather than fessing up.

Spinning a typo on a tweet as being a clear indication that he is incompetent is dumb. He gives us way better reasons to believe that. Impulsive and/or unable to admit he messed up? Certainly.

I appreciate the effort, but I think if that was the case he would just delete it and then post his intended tweet. He's made plenty of typos and then deleted and replaced the tweet a few minutes later, and nobody really cared about the typos.

I think it's fairly obvious that he fell asleep mid-tweet, which is embarrassing and troubling. And that's why nobody has tried to explain it and Spicer tried to deflect.

You're right. All our politicians are robots and not allowed to make simple grammatical errors here and there.
This is a sad state. Is there some reason that we should be settling for this from the highest office in American politics? I tend to think we should always strive to fill that post with the absolute best of the best. Like it or not, this guy is the face of the US. He represents us globally. His messed up tweets (and messed up...you name it) reflects poorly on all of us.

:goodposting:

You know if this were Obama, he would use covfefe in his next press appearance.

I'm sure this has been posted elsewhere...

The Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically for Engagement (COVFEFE) Act

“In order to maintain public trust in government, elected officials must answer for what they do and say; this includes 140-character tweets,” [Rep. Mike] Quigley [D-IL] said in a statement. “If the President is going to take to social media to make sudden public policy proclamations, we must ensure that these statements are documented and preserved for future reference.”
