Craig Sager Cuts Kids Out Of Will (1 Viewer)

I mean, I read about what a great guy he was, yada/yada/yada, but WTF? Guy is about to get flamed from the grave...

After he divorced his wife of 22 years who he had 3 kids with, he remarried someone almost the same age as his oldest kid. His oldest son donated bone marrow to the guy twice during his battle with cancer and his 2nd wife was 100% the beneficiary to his estate. Even after his kids from his first marriage didn't contest the will, this shrew is taking them to court to make sure they never contest it.

First off, this woman Stacy Sager seems like a raging pile of garbage, and this reflects pretty poorly on Craig too.

There are a lot of other things leaking, but this looks ugly.

Also read that it was his son that paid for the transplants and was supposed to be reimbursed, but never was (that's some expensive ####). I'll wait to see the validity on that, but if true, honestly, my opinion on this guy went downhill quickly.

These are more just Twitter stuff, so who knows, I'd find this hard to believe...

why did you have an opinion of him as a person? i thought he was pretty good on TNT but I knew nothing about the guy personally so had no opinion of him as a human being...pieces of #### get cancer too

He came off as well-respected amongst the circle he was in.

Also, leaving your son who saved your life TWICE out of your will, that's some cold-blooded ####, IMO.

ESPN gave him the Arthur Ashe courage award at the ESPYs before he passed.  Sure, bad people can get that award too but I don't think it's a big leap to assume Sager was a good dude based on the support he got from NBA players, coaches, TNT, and the ESPN award too.  He seemed to be universally liked and respected in his field.

I found it pretty shocking to hear about too, for the reasons listed above. But it seems like this wasn't about Sager, but about the new wife controlling every ounce of his being and maybe even taking advantage of a dying man.

I mean you'd think he would have the right perspective as his time approached and would put a stop to it if he really wanted, but who the hell knows.

Not sure why anyone would judge him on his decision to leave his eldest kids out of his will.  People have reasons for doing what they do, it doesn't necessarily make them evil.

There are lots of stories out there about rich folks cutting kids out of wills to leave money to charity or the family parrot.  Sometimes the kids are just morons, sometimes it's a parent's choice based on variables no one outside the family can ever understand.

This doesn't sound like one of those situations.

sometimes it is as simple as young, blonde ##### makes you do crazy ####

What does it sound like?  Like adult kids and the new wife hating each other and fighting over assets?  That stuff happens all the time.

Only Craig Sager knows the full truth, and he's not here to speak for himself.
It sounds like Sager didn't do enough to make sure his son who donated bone marrow to try to save his life didn't get the shaft from the Trophy wife.

Which is to say, not good.

Professional acquaintances aren't familiar to the F'd up crap in his personal life.
Having a great career doesn't protect you from being manipulated by a gold-digging hoe.

how old are his kids?
He has five kids across the two marriages. The three from the first marriage are adults, the two from the second are something like 12 or 13 I think.

The older kids seem to be most upset that the second wife is suing them to prevent them from ever contesting the will in the future, not that they were left out in the first place. I have no idea if that is typical in cases like this but it seems like overkill given the situation.

I did a quick search and his net worth was somewhere around 10MM, so it's not like he was insanely rich or he could have set all of his kids up for life. I don't think it's that weird that everything went to his wife, he was probably thinking about his young children and their upbringing/future education etc. It sounds like the second wife is not a good person though. This article (written by the second wife) comes off as pretty crappy considering that he was still married to his first wife when they met.

@CraigSagerJr

Never contended anything to do w/ a will when I found out bc primarily I expected it & it’s what he wanted. It is what it is. We put our heads down & moved the hell on. But 2018 & I’m called on vacation bc another Sheriff came by I’m not in it + I’m not fighting = Leave me alone! pic.twitter.com/jj63ced…

The article also makes no mention whatsoever of his first three children and said this:

It’s been a hard year, not just for Riley, Ryan (ages 11 and 12) and me,
And in response of the first three said this.

Obviously it's an ugly situation.

i gotta tell you guys i liked craig saeger a lot but learning this has definitely changed my opinion a bit and i sure do not like the crappy new wife one bit take that to the bank brohans

Pretty sad that Craig Sager is getting pulled into this from the grave.  From what I saw on TV during his final farewell year, his ex-wife and grown-up kids seemed like nice, modest people.  I recall his ex-wife getting lots of props from many of the TNT/NBA people.

Families can get really strange when wills and inheritances are involved.

Hope that you and your flashy suits are RIPing Craig!

Who knows what the full story is. Maybe his new wife promised him that "she would see that the money is disbursed fairly & evenly", and convinced him that dropping all the cash on the kids in a quick lump sum wouldn't benefit the kids as much. Maybe she promised to dole it out, allowance style, over a period of time? Maybe he was sucker enough to believe it. Maybe she was even telling the truth.

Who knows. But, really, who cares?
I don't really care either but that is clearly not the case.

Left his wife and family of 5 for a lowlife bimbo that could prob suck the chrome off of a tailpipe, then leaves everything he has to her. I see ways this could've been avoided, but that's just me.

That's the odd part. The 3 adult kids from the first wife aren't pursuing the inheritance. The new gold-digger is preemptively suing them to keep them contesting the will. How paranoid do you have to be to do such a thing?

Hmm. I think 2 million per kid would do a pretty decent job getting them set up for life.

That’s usually what this comes down to.

The daughter pointed out the SagerStrong foundation was liking tweets that trashed the older kids. The guy wore colorful/hideous jackets, that's basically what separated him from the other 1,000 sideline reporters.

I think that's selling him short.  He was a really good sideline reporter.
