Cubs at Braves (1 Viewer)

Braves and Cubs both trying to gain ground. Decent Sunday night match-up but strange considering all the interleague play going on that they have a NL game.

What is it with Salty and the old punch-the-glove-inside-and-then-set-up-outside schtick? I've seen him do it about 10 times over the weekend. Atlanta's pitching coach needs to tell him to cut that out. Does anyone fall for that above the high school level? If anything, he's tipping the batter that the pitch is going outside, not inside. Does he think professional batters are that stupid?

Lilly high and tight to Renteria. Looked like it might have clipped him. Benches clear.

Sunday night baseball on ESPN!

What a joke. Hudson doesn't get tossed for nailing Soriano last night. Lilly gets tossed for grazing Renteria up and in. Renteria gives a forearm to the face of the rookie shortstop covering second ... nothing.

I hope Renteria gets one in the ear next time up.

I didn't like Renteria hitting the kid. No reason for that and he should have been tossed. That being said, the ump was right to toss Lilly. Throwing at a guy and hitting him in the body is one thing, throwing at his head is another. That ball was way too high. The ESPN crew reminded me why I hate them so much last night. Listening to them talk about Lilly getting tossed for the entire game got REALLY old.

:goodposting: By the third inning I wanted to crawl into the TV and strangle both of them. But the ump was not in the right for tossing Lilly. If he assumed that there would be retaliation, shouldn't he have warned the Cubs before the game that anything persieved as such would result in getting the boot?? Not wait till it happens then say, I knew it. If Hudson only get a warning for going high and tight to Soriano, then Lilly should have gotten the same.

Maybe there was a pre-game warning... We don't know if there was one or not...

They had an in-game interview with Pinella who said there was NO pre-game warning.Morgan kept trying to get him riled up about different incidents thru the series and he'd answer "Well, umpire so-and-so didn't see it that way." or "I don't know, you'll have to ask umpire so-and-so."
