I have a playoff team that features McFadden, Murray, Hightower, Kevin Smith and Torain. Might win this week but I hold no illusions about next week.Funny thing is...my other playoff team featured McFadden Smith, and Forte.....no illusions there either. Bad year for me :(A lot of fantasy playoffs hopes dashed with that fracture. You had teams that lost Charles or fjax and replaced them with Murray and he was carrying them.
Might end up being this guy...http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=627388So with Choice gone, and Tanner on IR, and Murray done -- who's behind Felix now?
I was originally upset over Murray going out, but when I actually started to think about it, I believe you may be right. Things were looking more and more like it was moving into a RBBC situation with Murray and Felix. This way, at least you know you'll have the bellcow running back against two bad run defenses (Tampa Bay and Philly). I trust Murray a lot more than I trust Felix, but since these were the cards that were dealt, I'm not too upset about being able to use Felix.for owners who have both him and Felix, it seems like this could actually wind up being a net positive if there is less of a committee approach the next couple weeks. Felix Jones looks great tonight.also for dynasty owners, seems like there should be no concern about him for next year. could have been worse if it was an ACL or worse.
That's assuming that said owners actually have anything to play for next week, Aaron. Just surveying Twitter shows that the Murray injury was the straw that broke the camel's back for a LOT of people out there, me included.for owners who have both him and Felix, it seems like this could actually wind up being a net positive if there is less of a committee approach the next couple weeks. Whatever free agent gets signed this week, I suppose. So with Choice gone, and Tanner on IR, and Murray done -- who's behind Felix now?
If you needed him this week, then it sucks he got knocked out of the game obviously, but his rest of year performance was irrelevant to those owners.Him being knocked out for the rest of the season is why this thread is here. Plenty of Murray owners out there probably had a bye this week. I'm saying things could actually turn out better for those who had the Felix Jones handcuff. That's assuming that said owners actually have anything to play for next week, Aaron. Smh I listen to experts.. If the guy behind your starter is a stud to be lock him up. I think we get too greedy using the roster space on flyers when we should be focusing on productive offenses, o-lines, and the talent level behind our starters for insurance. Can't feel sorry for yourself at this point.Sounds like a lot of folks should start buying into handcuffing....Not sure why folks are so resistant to it.![]()
Because you can't handcuff your entire roster. If you had a guy like McFadden and Bush...then picked up Murray...maybe you did not have room for Felix. It happens.Cannot handcuff guys...cover all injuries and bye weeks in some leagues. Roster space is just too limited.'Craig_MiamiFL said:Sounds like a lot of folks should start buying into handcuffing....Not sure why folks are so resistant to it.![]()
we have short benches and the guy who had felix in our league would not give him up. he was never on the WW at any point of the season...Because you can't handcuff your entire roster. If you had a guy like McFadden and Bush...then picked up Murray...maybe you did not have room for Felix. It happens.Cannot handcuff guys...cover all injuries and bye weeks in some leagues. Not buying that. The knock on him has always been durability. Looks to me like we are getting what we expected. You have two RBs that both have shown they can be very productive in flashes but neither seem to be able to be able to hold up for long periods. I love the production in a PPR but I have to think my strategy is you either carry both or neither because you WILL be using them both during the course of the year.'Aaron Rudnicki said:for owners who have both him and Felix, it seems like this could actually wind up being a net positive if there is less of a committee approach the next couple weeks. I agree with this. Murray looked awesome the first few games he started, but he slowed down and got hurt. Staying healthy is a concern for him IMO, and I think there's a good chance he's in a time share with Felix next season in an attempt to keep both RBs healthy. I think Murray gets the majority of the touches but Jones won't go away. Not buying that. The knock on him has always been durability. Looks to me like we are getting what we expected. I think his ankle break is more a case of bad luck than a durability issue. How would a time share have helped Murray last night? It was the early stages of the game and Murray was fresh when he got hurt. Any player whose foot had turned sideways like his coupled with pressure on the leg from another body would have more than likely broken their ankle. It's just bad luck. Both Murray and Jones run better when they have their fullback blocking for them.I agree with this. Murray looked awesome the first few games he started, but he slowed down and got hurt. I have made this point before in a DMac thread: durability is one of the most important qualities in a dynasty HB. You can't ignore it. Murray looked like E. Smith reborn, but if he is injury prone, foget it. Part of what made Smith great was that week after week, season after season, he was on the field being productive. That's the difference between a great HB and a good one.I agree with this. Murray looked awesome the first few games he started, but he slowed down and got hurt. You certainly could be right, but Murray had questions surrounding his ability to stay healthy, and he didn't. He was injured in the pre-season and injured again last night. It could be a fluke injury which could happen to anyone, but his injuries are going to give me a little bit of pause.I think his ankle break is more a case of bad luck than a durability issue. Demarco will be around pick 60 in normal competitive redraft leagues imo.Jones is going to perform well down the stretch this year and will go right around same that draft position. Exactly where depends on how well he performs.I believe Jones may have learned something watching Murray play. Jones learned that he should not begin every run play as fast as he can. He may have learned that he was too fast for his blocking and he needs to let more of his run blocks develop.Where do you think Felix and Demarco go in redrafts next year? I was really looking forward to Murray being overdrafted in the 2nd round next year. I'm not a believer. Now I'm afraid he'll be drafted closer to where he belonged.
Say what?Murray looked like E. Smith reborn
