Year #3- same spot.
We are good enough to be a playoff team.
Likely will beat TB in round 1.
Have to play Philly or SF on the road in round #2. Almost certainly will lose.

Short of an appearance in the NFC Title game, this team has failed.

We are year 8 into the Dak era.

We know he’s good, but not great.

Do we want to pay $350 million for good play, only to continually fall short?

I know football is a team game and there’s always shared responsibility here, but the truth is we are better off letting him walk, taking a QB flyer in round 1 or 2, and allocate the money elsewhere than more of the same. I know that position makes me unpopular here, but short a deep playoff run, we know what this team is- it could not be any more clear.

Dak isn't worth 350 for no other reason than this team can't find and develop enough depth to compete. Need to be able to throw that at 4 panic free agents when you realize you have no middle defense, or your right side of your OL can't pickup the right assignment.

36 straight quarters with no holding calls against Parsons. It’s beyond transparent the Cowboys are not in the NFL’s script this year.

CeeDee gets his pants pulled down without a call.

Then we add just enough mistakes to make it look good for the NFL.

Rinse - repeat.

Close to doing other things with my time again.

It hasn’t been a good year for officials.

For all of our warts, we still have the chance to flip the script. We’re in the same spot we’ve been in for the past three years. Think we handle TB on the road. Philly is not playing great and we could win that game on the road. If we can get to the conference title game, that shows something. We have the talent. Just have to eliminate the self inflicted wounds and manage the clock.

Has any sense been added to the targets disappearing for CeeDee Lamb after the first quarter last weekend?

We did a great job against the run. Held Gibbs/Monty to under 4 YPC. Detroit did a good job holding us to 20, though

No doubt the Lions thought they could bully us. It was the difference in the game.

@jon_mx

It was announced over the PA and the lions had yet to huddle

On top of this, I saw another (can’t find now) report where another of our Def players says they actually were coached to watch for Tackle Eligible plays.

To assume we would not have stopped this is so ignorant of the Lion’s fan base.

The fact their coach called a tackle eligible play with the 1/2 seed on the line, with how they also sent 3 guys to the ref, all while thinking they were tricking Dallas is pure comedy.

The only sad part is - I feel like I am only 1 of about 20 people in the entire world who knows this.

All I know is that I like the #2 seed with home games for the first two rounds a hell of a lot better than the #5 seed. Still don't expect them to beat the Niners if they happen to meet up again. At this point, despite the inconsistency, loss of Diggs, OL injuries, and overall ****ty head-coaching, I'd consider it a success if they make the NFC Championship game.

Still gotta beat the Commanders next week, though.

Yeah I wrote without thinking it through. I'll edit it.

What do we all think about Dalvin Cook? Is he the potential answer to the rushing woes Dallas is experiencing? I'm somewhat surprised this hasn't been addressed earlier in the season or at the deadline. Pollard has not looked great. He has been good. Mike McCarthy doesn't seem to trust him around the goal line, where Zeke would have plodded his way to a few TDs already.

I just worry about Dalvin Cook's usage in NY. Granted, he was seeded behind Breece Hall and brought in, for what I assume, as an insurance clause. I just don't see the split usage in NY, regardless of where that team was destined after the Rodgers injury. The FA cupboard is pretty bare. With Deuce on IR, as an undersized midget little person and Dowdle limited in practice this week, I'm not sure how you don't do whatever it takes to bring Cook in. I am sure it would be a sweetheart deal, given he is being paid by NY and the alternative to make a playoff run. I think he has plenty of rest, given what I have seen from him in a Jets uniform.

He's not getting paid this week. He's foregoing his guarantee for the week (his payments came in weekly roster bonuses) so that he could be released.

That said, I don't think you'll get much from Dalvin. The Jets fans are pretty down on him. I'm more sanguine than them about his chances these days, but he's not what he used to be. Breece Hall is one of, IMO, the best backs in the game. Like a top-five back (at least). Cook wasn't going to see any time with Hall around. But Cook didn't look awesome in limited carries, or the Jets would have used a 1-2 punch at RB. (What were they going to do, throw the ball with those quarterbacks and that line?)

On Dalvin, It should be looked into.
He was not used much with the Jets.

He’s a bit loose with ball iirc.

If he can do a better job the Dowdle - I’m all for it.

Man I remember thinking Philly got a steal on Jordan Davis… actually hated the thought of him clogging up the middle when Dallas played them. Sounds like he’s lazy and a slob? Then Jalen Carter was heralded as the “steal of the draft” for falling to Philly, but yet I haven’t seen him be a factor much at all. Even rumblings that the character issues that were reported are rearing its ugly head. Although Mazi has not been anything to brag about yet and may end up a bust also, thank God Jerry didn’t mortgage the farm to move up for Carter like some were calling for. Unanswered prayers I guess 😁

I still think Carter will be excellent.

Carter is the odds on favorite to win DROY. Not sure where you are hearing the bolded. He's going to be a monster for years to come IMO. I think he's simply spent this late in the season. Rookie wall is a real thing. The Jordan Davis stuff is concerning though. I think he more or less used up a full season's worth of energy on this one.

I don’t disagree that Carter is going to be good for Philly, I’m more talking about what was going on during the draft once QB Richardson went off #4 and talks of Carter falling had teams scrambling to possibly trade up to get him. Speculation was Dallas was even looking to get to that 5-8 spot for him. At what that cost would have been, I’m glad Dallas didn’t spend it. It would have set Dallas back tremendously losing the picks it would take. I like Dallas letting the players come to them- Micah and CeeDee for example, both considered players that fell to them and have blown up the league since being here (multiple pro bowls).

This post was more about the underperforming Jordan Davis who I was sick about Philly getting him as I expected him to dominate the middle.… Nolan Smith as well who was expected to fix the Eagles linebacker weaknesses. So far, I’m not impressed by either of them but it’s only been a year.

I think the Cowboys are amazing at drafting their guys - Where they get in trouble is when somebody else takes their man and they "settle" rather than just take the next guy they're sure on.

Example in last years draft with Laporta. They wanted him bad and then settled for Shoonmaker.

This is year #3 for us in this spot. We’re really good, but greatness has been elusive. We should beat GB. I’m glad we avoided the Rams- think they will upset the Lions.

If we get to the NFC Title Game, I’ll consider this year a success. We’re clearly not as good as SF, so losing to them in the conference title game is no disgrace. But, we need to get there. If we don’t, I think it’s pretty clear this team is a known commodity and major changes need to follow. I’m more optimistic than I’ve been the last two years, but we need to prove it.
