Dallas Morning News Mock Draft (1 Viewer)

21. New England Patriots - Kamerion Wimbley

"Comment: I don't think you can have enough pass-rushing defensive ends. He's the best available. New England can go in several directions, but this is the last pass-rushing defensive end, so this is a smart choice."

22. San Francisco 49ers - Jason Allen

"Comment: They need playmakers like crazy, and he's the best left on the board. He's coming back from injury, but he's still a strong playmaker. With Hawk and this guy, they made a big leap in the NFC West."

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Antonio Cromartie

"Comment: I was looking at Tampa Bay's needs, and they are offensive tackle (to protect Chris Simms), outside linebacker and cornerback. So I'm drafting Cromartie because he's the best available."

24. Cincinnati Bengals - Marcedes Lewis

"Comment: The Bengals haven't had a great tight end since Tony McGee, and he wasn't all that great. Either they stay here or trade down, but no matter what, with their first pick in the draft, they'll take the next great tight in Marcedes Lewis."

25. NY Giants - Laurence Maroney

"Comment: They can groom him to take over for Tiki Barber in a few years."

I guess they changed his comment:

"Comment: The New York papers are predicting the Giants will take an outside linebacker. I think the Giants have filled their linebacker need by signing both Arrington and the underrated Brandon Short. I personally think they need a defensive tackle or a speed outside receiver, but Holmes and Jackson are gone and Moss does not appear to be tough enough. Gabe Watson should be the choice but I understand he has character issues, but he would be great between the Giants awesome pass rushing DE's. If they were going to take the best athlete available then I would take Michael Robinson of Penn State. However I believe they can wait until the second round and snatch him up. I personally think Michael can become the best safety in the NFL in two to three years. My pick is Maroney because I think they can groom him to take over for Tiki in a couple of years."

26. Chicago Bears - Anthony Fasano

"Comment: Basically, I couldn't get Vernon Davis or Marcedes Lewis, who I really wanted. He will provide a much-needed extra option for the quarterback, regardless whomever it may be (Brian Griese, Rex Grossman or Kyle Orton)."

27. Carolina Panthers - LenDale White

"Comment: The Panthers are needs are linebacker, running back and offensive line, and at this point in the draft, there aren't any value picks at linebacker or offensive line. So obviously I'm going to address the need at running back. I think White is really underrated, he got a bad rap in the press. He's a big bruising back in the Earl Campbell mold. He fits into what John Fox wants to do, which is run the ball. DeShaun Foster is injury prone, and they don't have anyone behind him who is proven. The big thing about DeAngelo Williams was he played against weaker competition, he's 5-7, and he reminds me of J.J. Arrington, who the Cardinals took last year and has done nothing so far."

28. Jacksonville Jaguars - D'Angelo Williams

"Comment: We're done with Fragile Freddie [Taylor] and ready to bring in the new blood. Greg Jones is a great fullback and short-yardage back, but we need someone new in the mold of Taylor, who can break for 90 yards on any play. Just looking at his productivity, you can't deny 6,000 yards and 55 touchdowns in college, there's no denying that. I was hoping to get one of those linebackers, but the value wasn't there for the remaining players at that position."

30. Indianapolis Colts - Joseph Addai

"Comment: I really wanted [D'Angelo] Williams, but he's gone. The Colts need to replace [Edgerrin] James, and waiting until the second round would be a mistake. Addai is quick, he catches the ball good, and he's the next guy on my board."

31. Seattle Seahwaks - Tamba Hali

"Comment: When you go to the Super Bowl, you're not in dire need anywhere. I went into the draft needing to improve on four areas: offensive guard (I'll try to get in the second round, even if I have to trade up), defensive back (I feel that anyone still there now would be too much of a reach), speed wide receiver (but I felt there were only two first-rounders in the draft, and they are both gone). That left me with Hali. He graded out a little slow at the combine, but he is a real player, with an explosive first step, and he doesn't quit. I see him as a starter in no more than a year or two. "

32 Pittsburgh Tye Hill CB Clemson Comment: We lost Chris Hope to free agency, and Hill is a great shut-down cornerback.
 If Hill was a safety I could understand the comment. If he said we might lose Taylor to free agency... I could understand the comment.I actually don't think this is a bad pick, the commentary though :X

Any thoughts on this mock? I think Fasano and Lewis might have gone a little high, but other than that most of the picks seem fairly reasonable.

The Jets have three players on the roster who either are centers or can play center, including well-regarded vet Trey Teague. I don't see Mangold at 29. I think Addai at 30 is sheer fantasy - much too high for him.

The Giants aren't taking Maroney either, now that I think about it. Their needs are on defense, especially DT and CB.

Aside from Cutler to CLE? Or do you agree that pick is rational?
