I can't believe my eyes. I wanted nothing to do with Bruce Campbell at #8 overall, like so many were predicting, but in Rd 4 I absolutely love the pick. Dude does have major upside, especially with one of the best OL coaches in the league in Cable. And now his major downside is no biggie with a fourth round price attached to him.

This after a fantastic first day with McClain, Houston and Veldheer.

It's impossible to know whether a draft is a success until years after, but at this point you can at least make a judgment based on needs, player potential and "value." And based on those criteria, the Raiders have hit the ball out of the park this year.

And now I'm hearing that they've also traded for Jason Campbell. My guess is that it was for a late pick. If so, that's just awesome. Campbell has had his struggles but he has shown improvement and really wasn't that bad last year. He is a heck of a lot better than what the Raiders have now (Jamarcus, Gradkowski, Chuck Frye, Kyle Boller :kicksrock: ) and probably a much better option than any developmental QB they'd take with that late pick.

There are a few drafts I like so far, in terms of value, needs, and somewhat safe picks.

Oakland is doing well. Like I said in another thread, someone must be giving Al his meds.

The Raiders used a very late pick to get Jason Campbell, not only was it a 4th round pick, but it was for the 2012 draft. Talk about cheap.

I'm impressed... On paper, Day Sweats Davis has, dare I say, IMPROVED his team?! Nice draft so far.

Wouldn't say they are having the best, but definitely one of the top ones. I think Seattle overall is having the best, if you sprinkle in the trades they have made.

Detroit's first two picks were good, but the next ones... meh. Really wish they had gone with Campbell in the 3rd or traded back into the 4th to snag him. Much better OT than the one we drafted.

Getting Leon for what amounted to a move down from rd 5 to 7 was a ridiculous steal. The two first rounders seemed like the fit the good player/big need/value criteria. Carroll is having a heck of a first draft! Tough to argue with this. :hifive: Niners are doing a good job too, especially if Mays works out. But the OL and Bowman look legit.

When us armchairs like a draft it seems to have a history of not working out so well. Just saying.
Im a Raiders fan and I agree with this.
I think it's not so much fans liking the draft, it's more along this logic;al davis drafts terribly -> he usually reaches, and drafts workout warriors two rounds too earlythis draft doesn't follow the usual Raider characteristics -> there really hasn't been reaches -> the draft surprises -> fans like that they aren't hating the draftsurprised by not being surprised.. ?

I still like the 49ers draft best of everyone thus far. I think they have picked up 4 immediate starters and that is simply amazing. That said, the Raiders have done remarkably well in this draft as well. Picking up Jason Campbell really is the icing on the cake for this one.

The long term is a crap shoot it seems. But that doesn't mean you can't analyse the prospects of the draft class as it develops and lands on a team.A lot of times we're wrong. But not always. And it's fun to think it through and make a projection.

I'm satisfied with what my Seahawks have done, but credit for these things is often misplaced.

Former GM Ruskell was the guy that gave Denver a 2nd rounder last year for their 1st this year allowing the Seahawks to add FS Thomas with pick 16. Credit for this selection certainly shouldn't go to Carrol. For the most part it appears his first round selections were no-brainers.

If we modify the question I would feel better giving Seattle as my answer.

Which team added the most immediate starters during the draft? Seattle

Which team improved itself the most during the draft? Seattle

I think all the following could be starters when the coming season begins:

1.06 OT Russell Okung

1.14 FS Earl Thomas

2.28 WR Golden Tate

5.02 Kam Chancellor

via trade RB Leon Washington

via trade RB Lendale White

The point can argued that there may not be significant upgrades at a few of those positions, but they still appear to be upgrades. Starting TWO rookie safeties sounds dangerous, but possible.

I'm expecting Seattle to take take at least two OGs that fit the zone blocking scheme that coach Gibbs is looking for. Wouldn't be surprised to see one of these young guys get a chance to compete for immediate playing time as well.

What the Raiders got from this draft:

Rd 1 - #8(8) Rolando McClain (ILB) Alabama ESPN Video

Rd 2 - #12(44) Lamarr Houston (DT) Texas

Rd 3 - #5(69) Edwin Veldheer (OT) Hillsdale

Rd 4 - #8(106) Bruce Campbell (OT) Maryland

Rd 4 - #10(108) Jacoby Ford (WR) Clemson

Rd 5 - #7(138) Walter McFadden (CB) Auburn

Kamerion Wimbley

Quentin Groves

Jason Campbell

Arguing about who had the best draft isn't very productive, but tough to find fault with this group.

possibly even better than the jamarcus draft.
That was a great draft, except for Jamarcus and Randy, LOL.Seriously tho, Zach Miller (2), Skinnie Lee Higgins (3), Michael Bush (4), Jay Richardson (5), Oren Oneal (6) were all great picks but drafting Jamarcus #1 and trading Randy Moss for a fourth rounder will forever bury it in infamy and shame :goodposting: .

Totally forgot about Wimbley. That guy is solid. :goodposting: Raiders LB corps of Wimbley, McClain and Howard is just sick on paper!
