Darrell Jackson's contract status (1 Viewer)

I can't seem to find any info on Darrell Jackson's current contract. I'd continue to hold him in a dynasty league if I thought there was a chance that he'd get out of S.F. after this year. If his contract is up, I can't imagine he'd stay. I remember him being mad at Seattle because they didn't give him the deal the former GM had promised, so I'm guessing his deal must not have much left on it.

Anyone know for sure?

After Monday night's loss, the first time the 49ers have been shut out this season, Jackson said he hasn't played in a more dysfunctional offense in his career. But when pushed on what's ailing his team - whether it's the play-calling, the players or effort - he refrained.

"I can put my finger on it," Jackson said. "But that wouldn't be politically correct"

2007 $1,550,000.00

2008 $3,800,000.00

2009 $4,300,000.00

Looks like he could be a cap casualty this year. $3.8 million for a projectted 37 catches; $100,000 per catch, lol. I think that's a bit rich for the 9ers, add to it that he's a nagging injury waiting to happen every year.

He's not slow. He's not old. He's not always hurt. And he doesn't have as bad of hands as people like to say. And what I actually need to know is whether he'll continue to be on a bad team next year. That's the most important factor. But other than that, your analysis was extremely accurate. And helpful.

Thanks. Well, I might hold him into this offseason and see if he's cut by June 1.

keep telling yourself that. but if you watched the game the other night, he looked slow. the guy simply cannot create separation, which would be ok if he had blazing speed, but he most certainly does not. ya, you are correct about his age, he is only 29. but he misses so many games youd think he is older. damn, the guy has played 26 games in 3 seasons...yikes.

Wait, he played 26 games? I thought you said he was ALWAYS hurt? Go piss in someone else's sandbox.

Well that rules out the football.I drafted this guy to fill my #2 WR slot and he's been on my bench since week #4. I would drop him but our WW is picked clean. And you never know when injury will force me to turn to DJax for his consistent 2 catches for 6 yards production.

Yeah, he's my sixth WR in a dynasty league and I'm contemplating dumping him depending on his contract status, so I guess you're right - I can't see the writing on the wall. The problem with ignorant, immature posters like you is that your "he sucks" mantra is all you can come up with, and it clutters this message board to the point that people hate coming here.

Excellent reaction to knee-jerk analysis. Jackson could be a great No. 1 receiver on a lot of teams in the NFL. He's on the worst passing offense in the NFL. Look what happened to Randy Moss while in the same situation. I'm sure if Jackson was on the Packers, he'd be a top 15 WR. I think Seattle essentially sent him to hell by trading him to SF.

 D.Jackson has been the most over-rated WR in the league the past few years.he was made to look good playing in a great offense with a very good QB.He'll never be a #1 WR for another team again. He's a cancer and has worse hands then a quadriplegic.

Ahhh, the "he's over-rated" card - another old stand-by for people who don't know what they're talking about. Just to clarify, this thread wasn't started to ask anyone their opinion of D-Jax as a receiver. I just wanted to know his contract status and if anyone had any info on him coming back to S.F. next year. So if you think he sucks or he's over-rated or he's a cancer, just move along. No one cares what you think. Maybe instead of spending time in here spewing hyperbole, you should go familiarize yourself with a dictionary.

I am normally a lurker, but when you want to know whether Djax will go to another team next year due to his contract, you are going to get peoples opinions on Djax as a player also. By your answers to other's criticisms of Djax, you feel he has a lot of wasted talent and could become a #1 somewhere. That is fine, but the statements people are making in this thread are basically what the Seattle posters were saying when the trade went down. I have watched Djax closely for four years - had him in dynasty until 2 years ago and I live in Northern California so I get to see him in all the SF games :goodposting: this season. He seems to have no separation ability anymore and drops a lot of passes.

He is relatively cheap this season, so answer this - when was the last time a division opponent traded a quality (#1 or #2 WR) to another divisional opponent that badly needed WR help without the salary cap being the issue? I do not remember it happening, so maybe Seattle did not feel he was a quality WR anymore?

Not to give you advice on your dynasty squad, but if he is your #6 WR I would drop or move him and pickup a project that might develop in the next 2-3 years. I don't see Djax moving into your starting lineup unless you get destroyed by injuries. Just my 0.02, but I would take the upside in my #5+ WRs in a dynasty over a steady declining player that I am not going to realistically start anyway. Maybe you can find the next CJ, Steve Smith, etc - players in their first couple of years that did not do a whole lot to impress on the field.

Hey man, he said he'd tone it down

I wouldn't want Jackson going anywhere near my fantasy QB. He needs to stay where he is and develop some chemistry (or better yet chemicals) with Smith.
