Date of first NFL game of 2011 schedule? (1 Viewer)

Anybody know this date definitively....trying to reserve a date for a Vegas trip.

This past season was Thursday, Sept. 9th so assuming it will be the Thursday closest to that date this year which would be Sept. 8th.

Is that a safe assumption?

With a potential lockout or 18 game schedule coming I think it is risky to assume the first game will be on 9/8 next season.

is it AFTER labor day as that what they use if a 16 game schedule. I think they will extend season on back end and look to have SB on Washington birthday weekend if they go 18.

So if they cut out 2 preseason games the preseason would start 2 weeks later?

Don't forget the third week from an additional bye.I'd guess the season would start on 9/1 in 2011, if it starts on time.
